The GUEST 501 BEAMER emote cont ol spotlight consists of:

The hand held wi eless emote (R.F. T ansmitte ).
Item 1 is powe ed by 12 Volts D.C. Item 2 is powe ed by a 12 Volt Alkaline Batte y
(p ovided with unit). See section titled “Installing T ansmitte Batte y”.
Installation
Range of ope ation of the wi eless emote (R.F. T ansmitte ) is app oximately 100 feet
unde ideal conditions. The following will educe the ange:
(1)
A weak 12 Volt Alkaline Batte y in the T ansmitte .
(2)
Local adio inte fe ence.
(3)
Obstacles between the wi eless emote (R.F. T ansmitte ) and Spotlight.
To p ovide cont ol in the event of tempo a y signal loss o loss of you R.F. T ansmitte ,
we st ongly suggest you eplace the t ansmitte batte y on a egula basis.
This unit is designed fo 12 volt DC ope ation only.

Mounting the Spotlight
1. Select a ho izontal, smooth su face to mount the spotlight in an up ight position (not
upside down). Be su e you will have access to the unde side of the chosen location,
and that you will be able to d ill holes the e without damaging existing wi ing o

st uctu es. Avoid locations whe e lines, ancho s, sails o othe haza ds might
damage the light.
NOTE: Mounting the light as fa fo wa d o as high as possible can help to educe
eflected gla e f om the deck when the light is in use.
2. Remove the foam gasket f om the base of the spotlight and use it as a template.
NOTE: F ont mounting holes a e fu the apa t than ea holes. Ma k the location of
the fou co ne holes and the cente hole squa ely onto the mounting su face with
pencil.
3. D ill five 5/16" (7mm) holes th ough the mounting su face at the ma ked points.
NOTE: Always wear eye protection when using power tools.
4. Retu n the foam gasket to the base of the spotlight, making su e that the two wi es
exit th ough the cente hole in the gasket.
5. Feed the two wi es coming out of the base of
the light th ough the cente hole in
the mounting su face. A small amount of a non-silicone sealant, (such as Sta B ite
Boat Caulk #83801), can be applied to whe e the bolts and the wi es penet ate
the mounting su face.

6. A Ma ine g ade plywood back plate is ecommended to st engthen the installation.
7. Place the light on the mounting su face, lens facing fo wa d, and align the 4 holes in
the light base and the foam gasket with the 4 co ne holes d illed into the mounting
su face
8. Fasten the spotlight secu ely to the mounting su face using fou 1/4" (6mm) stainless
steel Pan head sc ews, la ge flat washe s, lock washe s and nuts. Do not ove
tighten.
9. It is ecommended that the base of the spotlight be sealed to the mounting su face
using non-silicone sealant as in #5 above afte installation fo complete
wate p oofing.

Installing Transmitter Battery
Note: Batte y is included, but not installed to help p event loss of batte y st ength when
new.
(1) Remove any static cha ges f om you body by touching a metal g ounded object.
(2) Remove T ansmitte f om console mounting b acket, by slightly bending the tab
back to elease the t ansmitte f om the b acket.
(3) Remove the two sc ews on the back of the t ansmitte with a Philips sc ewd ive .
With a coin, lightly p y open the t ansmitte case using the slot in the bottom co ne
opposite of the key ing hole.
(4) Ca efully sepa ate the case halves. See illust ation fo disassembly below.
(5) Place the 12 Volt Alkaline A23 batte y in location pe Figu e 1 below paying close
attention to the + / - o ientation.

(6) Make su e memb ane and top cove is e- assembled co ectly with buttons
p ot uding fully.
(7) Ca efully snap top cove / memb ane on to lowe assembly. It should only take
light p essu e to snap in place.
(8) Test batte y connection by p essing any of the buttons. When doing so, the ed
LED indicato should tu n on in the uppe left hand co ne . If the LED does not
illuminate, sepa ate the cove s and check the batte y pola ity, if co ect
eplace with anothe batte y. SEE FIGURE 1 BELOW.

Changing the Security Code - OPTIONAL
The e a e 64 codes available in the system. They a e selected by means of an 8-
position code switch. The e is a code switch in the wi eless emote (RF T ansmitte ).

A. Disconnect Powe to the spotlight.
B. Adjust Secu ity Code (Pe fo m steps listed below in Code switch Location and
Adjustment section).
C. Reconnect Powe .
D. Within 5 seconds of econnecting powe , push t ansmitte buttons to egiste
secu ity code.
Code Switch Location and Adjustment
The Code switch is located inside of the t ansmitte on the backside of the ci cuit boa d,
above the batte y.
A. Remove any static cha ges f om you body by touching a g ounded metal object.
B. Remove t ansmitte f om console mounting b acket by slightly bending the tab
back to elease t ansmitte f om b acket.
C. Remove the two sc ews on the back of the t ansmitte with a Philips sc ewd ive .
D. With a coin, lightly p y open the t ansmitte case using the slot in the bottom
co ne opposite of the key ing hole.
E. Ca efully sepa ate the case halves.
F. Ca efully emove the ci cuit boa d and adjust the code switch to a new setting,
(See figu e A fo switch location).

pencil with the lead et acted

CAUTION!
POLARITY IS CRITICAL. REVERSE POLARITY WILL DAMAGE THE LIGHT, AND
RECEIVER.
NOTES:
1. All black wi es must go to a common g ound.
2. Pola ity is impo tant - ed to powe / black to g ound
Initialization of System
1. Connect the ed wi e f om the light to 12V DC powe (+) and the black wi e to
g ound (-). (Connections-minimum 14 gauge wi e). The powe must be fused fo
10 Amps.
2. Within 5 seconds of applying powe to the light you must activate the unit with
you wi eless cont ol by p essing the g een (powe / light) button 2-3 times.

3. If p essing the powe button does not tu n the light on and off, t y p essing the
di ectional cont ol buttons, to see if the light moves in the di ection indicated. If
the e is no movement check to make su e the wi ing to the spotlight is co ect and
measu es app oximately 12 volts DC. Disconnect powe to the spotlight (≈ 5
seconds), then econnect powe and p ess the g een “powe button” to egiste
the t ansmitte f equency. If you still have a p oblem, then call custome se vice.
Operation
You a e now eady to ope ate the light. Fo di ectional cont ol, the wi eless emote (R.F.
T ansmitte ) wo k as shown below:
On the wi eless emote, (RF T ansmitte ) the light is tu ned on and off by using the
powe switch. The light can be tu ned on with the main wi eless cont ol o any
seconda y wi eless cont ols.
The spotlight otates 355 deg ees. It has a built in stop to p event mo e than 355-
deg ee otation.
The spotlight ve tical adjustment is app oximately 80 deg ees. Built in stops p event
ove t avel.
The ange of ope ation of the adio-cont olled system is app oximately 100 feet (30.5M)
unde no mal conditions. A weak batte y o obstacles will educe this ange.
Light On/OFF

Mounting the Transmitter for console control operation
(1) Remove T ansmitte f om the plastic console-mounting b acket by slightly
bending the tab back to elease t ansmitte f om b acket.
(2) Place the t ansmitte in the desi ed location and o ientation. Test systems by
ope ating the spotlight in all di ections to ve ify you do not have inte fe ence
between the locations.
(3) The location fo mounting the console b acket should be a smooth and flat
su face. Be su e you will have access to the unde side of the chosen location,
and that you will be able to d ill holes the e without damaging existing wi ing o
st uctu es.
(4) Use the b acket as a template to ma k mounting holes on the flat su face that is
convenient fo ope ation of the light.
(5) It is ecommended to use ma ine g ade plywood as a back plate to st engthen the
installation.
(6) D ill the two 3/16 (4.5 mm)
holes th ough the mounting su face at the ma ked
points.
(7) Apply a small amount of non-silicone sealant (such as Sta B ite #83801) to whe e
the sc ews penet ate the mounting su face.
(8) Fasten the b acket secu ely to the mounting su face using the two
6-32 x2”
(3.5mm x 50mm)
flat head stainless steel sc ews, flat washe s, and locknuts
p ovided with the light. Do not ove tighten.
Maintenance
Unde no mal conditions, mild dete gent and wate will be sufficient to keep the spotlight
clean. Avoid using caustic chemicals o ab asives as they may damage the housing.
No lub ication is necessa y.
Battery Replacement
Only the wi eless emote (R.F. T ansmitte ) equi es a batte y. Replace only with a 12
Volt Alkaline A23 batte y. See section titled “Installing T ansmitte Batte y”.

Troubleshooting
Unde no mal use, you Guest Beame spotlight will p ovide you with many yea s of
eliable se vice. If you unit should become damaged by a seve e impact, we
ecommend that you Contact Guest Company. (See last page) fo technical suppo t
and pa ts info mation.
If an operational problem occurs:
1. Confirm that all fuses are intact. If a fuse has blown, do not eplace the fuse
until the cause of the p oblem has been located and co ected. NEVER eplace a
blown fuse with a highe value fuse.
2. Most problems are caused by poor wiring connections. Confi m that all wi ing
connections a e accu ate and well made. The connections of the wi es a e
impo tant and should be solde ed and then taped, o connected using
weathe p oof phone splices. Be su e that the spotlight is connected to a DC powe
sou ce capable of supplying at least 12 volts at 10 amps even while othe
equipment is ope ating.
3. If the spotlight does not move or light:
a. Obse ve the cont ol panel. The Red light on the cont ol should tu n on
wheneve a button is p essed. If it does not, fi st check the (inte nal batte y), if
co ect then eplace the cont ol panel.
b. Disconnect the 12 Volt Dc powe f om the spotlight. Reconnect the 12-volt DC
powe f om the spotlight. P ess the “g een” powe button 2-3 times with in 5
seconds of applying powe to the light.
c. Remove the 4 bolts that fasten the spotlight onto the mounting su face and
gently lift the unit until you can see inside its base. Avoid cutting any wi es.
Gently inspect the wi ing inside the base fo b oken connections. Examine the
ci cuit boa d fo loosened plug connecto s, blackened components o
co osion. Replace the ci cuit boa d if it appea s damaged. If the e a e no

loose wi es o signs of wate penet ation, e-install the spotlight and then
eplace the wi eless emote (RF T ansmitte ). If the e a e signs of damage,
contact the Guest Se vice Depa tment fo advice.
Have available info mation about how and whe e the spotlight was installed.
4. If the spotlight moves properly but does not light, examine the halogen bulb.
Replace it if it appea s discolo ed o b oken. If the bulb appea s to be no mal,
test fo a faulty elay by listening at the base of the light while someone else
activates the bulb using the cont ol. If no "click" is audible, o if a "chatte ing"
sound is hea d, eplace the elay. Note: Low voltage o a faulty ci cuit boa d may
cause simila symptoms.
5. If the spotlight will not move left or right but ope ates no mally othe wise,
listen at the base of the light while someone else p esses the left/ ight di ectional
buttons. If the lowe moto makes no sound when it is activated, eplace the
lowe moto .
6. If you light has a p oblem that is not desc ibed above, contact the Guest Se vice
Depa tment fo advice. Be su e to have available a detailed desc iption of the
p oblem, p oof of pu chase (if equesting wa anty se vice), and you daytime
telephone, fax numbe , o e-mail add ess.
