LZX414.00.71000 and LZX414.00.72000
Introduction
This instruction sheet describes how to install tank wall mount kit LZX414.00.71000 (with
1 m long pipe) and LZX414.00.72000 (with 0.35 m long pipe).
Items supplied with LZX414.00.71000 and LZX414.00.72000
Items supplied with the tank wall mount kit are shown in Figure 1. Figure 2 on page 3
shows the dimensions of the mount kit components. Installation dimensions are shown in
Figure 3 on page 4 and Figure 4 on page 5.

Select the install location
Important Note: When installing the SONATAX sc, observe all hazard and safety
instructions, particularly the information on selecting the measuring location and
instrument setup in the SONATAX sc user manual.
Note: When selecting the install location, always make sure there is safe access to all parts of the
system and that the SONATAX sc can never hit the tank wall.
During the selection of the install location, pay attention to:
•The load bearing capacity and strength of the tank wall (lever forces due to flow
and installation)
•The maximum cable and tubing lengths
Note: Refer to the SONATAX sc user manual for operating instructions.

Install the tank wall mount
1. Find a suitable installation location and install the quick-fit anchors.
Note: Drill accurate holes so that the fastening lug is exactly vertical.
a. Drill the holes (see Figure 5 on page 7) and insert the quick-fit anchors.
b. Hit the head of the quick-fit anchor with a hammer to make the quick-fit anchor
spread in the hole.
Note: Only tighten the nuts after the base and fastening lug have been assembled and aligned.
2. Attach the base to the quick-fit anchors using four M8 nuts and washers (see Figure 6
on page 7). Tighten the nuts by hand.
3. Attach the fastening lug to the base using four cap screws (M8 x 30 mm) and washers
(see Figure 7 on page 8). Tighten the screws by hand.
4. Align the base and fastening lug vertically and tighten all screws.
Note: If the wall is not exactly vertical, place shims behind the base at the top or bottom and
then tighten.
If the fastening lug is not vertical, move the base and the fastening lug a few degrees in
the holes.
5. Assemble the top jointed pipe and the bottom jointed pipe as shown in Figure 8 on
page 8.
a. Insert the hex head screws (M8 x 30 mm) through the holes, install the washers
and tighten the M8 nuts.
Note: Do not overtighten the nuts. The joint should still move to prevent damage to the rotating
scraper and the sensor.
b. Lock the screws using M8 nuts.
6. Loosely bolt the threaded brackets using cap screws (M5 x 20 mm) and spring
washers to the unthreaded brackets on the jointed mount pipe (see Figure 9 on page
9). During this process pay attention to the installation dimensions (see Figure 3 on
page 4 and Figure 4 on page 5).
CAUTION
Risk of injury. Tighten the screws sufficiently so that the brackets cannot slide off
the mount pipe.
7. Based on the local conditions and the immersion depth required (see operating
instructions for SONATAX sc), determine the installation position for the two top
brackets and slide the mount pipe and brackets on the fastening lug.
Note: The flange on the bottom pipe with joint should be approximately 3–5 cm under the
surface of the water so that the sensor always remains immersed while measurements
are made.
Important Note: Align the brackets on the fastening lug and align the joint so that the joint
axis is vertical to the movement of the rotating scraper.
8. Check the dimensions and tighten all screws.

9. To attach the sensor, remove the jointed mount pipe from the fastening lug (see
section Attach the SONATAX sc on page 9).

Attach the SONATAX sc
1. Slide the O-ring over the sensor cable.
1. Slide the sensor cable through the short (bottom) jointed pipe and bolt the pipe flange
to the sensor using the cap screws (M5 x 12 mm) and the spring washers for M5 (see
Figure 10 on page 10).
2. Slide a plug and a sealing plug over the cable and use them to seal the short (bottom)
jointed pipe at the joint (see Figure 11 on page 10).
3. Slide a plug and sealing plug over the cable to seal the long (top) jointed mount pipe
at the joint.
4. Slide the sensor cable through the long (top) jointed mount pipe.
5. Using the plug and sealing plug, seal the long (top) jointed mount pipe at the joint.
6. Insert a plug and a sealing plug in the top of the mount pipe. If necessary, shorten the
pipe and then insert the plugs.

Attach the protective plate
1. Attach the protective plate on the bottom jointed pipe as shown in
Figure 12 on page 11.
a. Insert the flat head cap screws (M8 x 120 mm) through the protective plate and
the spacers.
b. Hold both against the pipe and loosely tighten the pipe clamps using self-locking
M8 nuts and washers.
2. Move the protective plate so that the sensor is suspended approximately 5 cm above
the bottom edge of the protective plate.
Important Note: Align the protective plate so that it is vertical to the movement of the
rotating scraper and parallel to the axis of the joint. Make sure the spacers do not block the
probe LED and the probe is aligned with 2 feet towards the plate.
3. Tighten the nuts.

Attach mount pipe to base
1. Slide the two brackets (attached to mount pipe, sensor and protective plate) over the
fastening lug and align all the parts, taking into account the installation dimensions
and the local conditions (Figure 13 on page 12). Check the position of the sensor in
the tank and tighten all screws.
2. Route the sensor cable to the controller and attach the quick-connect fitting.
3. Continue as described in the operating instructions for the SONATAX sc and
the controller.
