WARNING COOKTOP SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Neverleavethe surfaceunits unattended withthe cooktop
ON.Boiloverscause smokingand greasy spilloversthat
maycatchon fire.
• Alwaysbepresent atthe range whencooking withoilor
grease.Surfacecooking isan "attended" activity.
• Neverleaveoilunattendedwhilefrying.Ifallowedtoheat
beyonditssmokingpoint,oilmayigniteresultinginfirethatmay
spreadtosurroundingcabinets.Useadeepfatthermometer
wheneverpossibletomonitoroiltemperature.
• Toavoidoil spilloverand fire, usea minimumamountof oil
whenshallowpan-frying andavoid cooking frozenfoods
withexcessiveamounts ofice.
• Useproperpan size—selectcookware having flatbottoms
largeenoughto coverthe surface heatingelement. The
useofundersized cookwarewill expose aportion ofthe
surfaceunitto directcontact and mayresult inignitionof
clothing.Properrelationship ofcookware to surfaceunit
willalsoimprove efficiency.
• Onlycertaintypes ofglass, glass/ceramic, earthenwareor
otherglazedcontainers aresuitable for cooktopservice;
othersmaybreak becauseof the suddenchange in
temperature.
• Tominimizethe possibilityof burns, ignitionof flammable
materialsandspillage, thehandle of acontainer shouldbe
turnedtowardthe centerof the rangewithout extending
overnearbysurface units.
• Whenpreparingflaming foodsunder a hood,turn thefan
on.
• Ifpoweris lostto an electriccooktop whileasurface unit
isON,the surfaceunit will turnback onassoon aspower
isrestored.In theevent of powerloss, failuretoturn
allsurfaceunit knobsto the OFFposition mayresultin
ignitionofitems onor near thecooktop, leadingtoserious
injuryordeath.
WARNING RADIANT COOKTOP SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Usecarewhen touchingthe cooktop. Theglass surfaceof
thecooktopwill retainheat after thecontrols havebeen
turnedoff.

Donotcookona brokencooktop.Ifglasscooktop should
break,cleaningsolutionsandspillovers maypenetratethe
brokencooktopandcreatea riskofelectricshock.Contact a
qualifiedtechnicianimmediately.

Avoidscratchingthe glasscooktop.Thecooktopcan be
scratchedwithitemssuchas knives,sharpinstruments,
ringsorotherjewelry,and rivetsonclothing.
• Donotplace orstore items thatcan meltorcatch fireon
theglasscooktop, evenwhen it isnot beingused.If the
cooktopisinadvertently turnedon, they mayignite. Heat
fromthecooktop oroven vent afterit isturnedoff may
causethemto ignitealso.
• Useceramiccooktop cleanerand a non-scratchcleaning
padtoclean thecooktop. Wait untilthe cooktopcools
andtheindicator lightgoes out beforecleaning. Awet
spongeorcloth ona hot surfacecan causesteamburns.
Somecleanerscan producenoxious fumes ifapplied to
ahotsurface. NOTE: Sugarspills are anexception. They
shouldbescraped offwhile still hotusing anovenmitt and
