Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For personal safety,
this appliance must be properly grounded.
Thepowercordofthisapplianceisequipped with a
3-prong(grounding)plugwhichmateswithastandard
3-prong(grounding)walloutlettominimizethepossibility
ofelectricshockhazardfromthisappliance.
Havethewalloutletandcircuitcheckedby a qualified

Starting the Freezer
1.Cleantheinsideofthefreezerwith a mild solution of
bakingsodaandwater(seeCareandCleaning).
2.Connectcordtopoweroutlet.
3.Makesurethetemperaturecontrolisset at 4
(recommendedsetting)between1(leastcold)to7
(coldest).
4.Allowfreezertooperateforatleast 6 to 8 hours before
placingfoodinside.
Thecontrol,locatedonthefrontofthefreezercabinet,is
anadjustabledialwithtemperaturesettingsrangingfrom1
(leastcold)to7(coldest)andOff.
1.Turnthetemperaturecontroldialto4(recommended
setting).
2.Allowthefreezertocoolforseveralhoursbeforeadding
food.
Adjustingthetemperature
1. Adjustthecontroldialtooneoftheadjacentsettings3
(lesscold)or5(colder).
NOTE: Exceptwhenstartingthefreezer,donotadjustthe

Sliding Basket
Storesmallpackagesinthebaskettoavoid losing them in
thebottomofthefreezer.Thebasketcan be moved from
sidetosideoritcanberemoved when loading or unloading
thefoodbelowit.
Toremovebasket,liftitstraightupand out. To replace
basket,lowerbasketbackintoplace.
Power Indicator
ThePowerIndicatorilluminateswhenthefreezeris properly
connectedtoelectricalpower.
IMPORTANT: TurningthecontroldialtoOFFdoesnot
disconnectthefreezerfromthepowersupply.Even when
CoolingisturnedOff,thePowerIndicatorwill remain
illuminatedaslongasthefreezerisplugged into an outlet.
Recommended Grounding Method
A115Volt,60Hz,AConly,15- or 20-amp fused, grounded
electricalsupplyisrequired.Itisrecommendedthat a
separatecircuitservingonlyyourfreezerbeprovided. Use
anoutletthatcannotbeturnedoffby a switch Do not use an

DEFROSTINGINSTRUCTIONS
Inmostclimates,defrostingwillbenecessaryonly about
twiceayear.
Tohaveyourfreezeroperatemostefficiently,do not permit
morethan1/4”(6mm)thicknessoffrost, on average, to
accumulateonthewalls.
Toremovefrost,scrapewithaplasticor wood spatula or
scraper.
Do not use an ice pick, metal, or sharp-edged instrument
asitmaydamageorscratchthefreezer.
Do not use boiling water asitmaydamagethefreezer.
Do not use any electrical device in defrosting your freezer.
For Complete Defrosting
1. TurnthetemperaturecontroltofarleftOFF setting and
unplugthefreezer.
2. Removeallfoodandplaceitincorrugated boxes,
insulatedbags,picniccoolers,etc.Usetowelsand
newspapersforinsulationasneeded.
3. Placeatray(notincluded)infrontof the freezer,
beneaththeexteriordrainplugtocollectthe water.
Pulloutthedrainplugabout1"(2.5 cm) until the drain
holeontheplugshowscompletely.Turnthe drain plug
clockwiseuntilthearrowispointeddown.Unscrew
counterclockwisetoremovetheinteriordrainplug.This
allowsthewatertoflowoutintothe tray.
NOTE: Waterthathasaccumulatedatthebottomof the
freezerduringdefrostingwilldrainintothetray. Monitor
thetrayunderthedraintoavoidoverflow.
4. Withthelidopen,youmaychooseto use pans of hot
tapwater(lessthan120°F[49°C]) to speed defrosting.
Directingairfromanelectricfanintothe freezer will
alsohelp.Donotplacefanorany electrical device in the
freezer.Removelargepiecesbeforetheymelt.
5. Wipewaterfromwallswithatowelor sponge.
6. Afterdefrosting,cleantheinsideofthefreezer (see Care
andCleaning).
7. Replacethedrainplugs.
8. Pluginthefreezer.Returnthe
temperaturecontroltoits
previouspositionandreturnfood
tothefreezer.

Cleaning Your Freezer
• Outside.Protect the paint finish. Thefinishontheoutside
ofthefreezerisahighquality,baked-on paint finish.
Withpropercare,itwillstaynew-lookingand rust-free
foryears.Applyacoatofappliancepolish wax when the
freezerisnewandthenatleasttwice a year. Appliance
polishwaxalsoworkswelltoremovetape residue from
freezersurfaces.
Keep the finish clean. Wipewith a clean cloth lightly
dampenedwithappliancepolishwaxormildliquid
dishwashingdetergent.Dryandpolishwithaclean, soft
cloth.Donotwipethefreezerwitha soiled dishwashing
clothorwettowel.Donotusescouring pads, powdered
cleaners,bleach,orcleanerscontainingbleach.
NOTICE:Care should be taken inmovingthefreezeraway
fromthewall.Alltypesoffloorcoverings can be damaged,
particularlycushionedcoveringsandthosewithembossed
surfaces.
• Inside.Clean the inside of yourfreezeratleastoncea
year.Werecommendthatthefreezerbeunplugged before
cleaning.Ifthisisnotpractical,wringexcess moisture out
ofspongeorclothwhencleaninginthevicinityofswitches,
lightsorcontrols.
Usewarmwaterandbakingsodasolution–abouta
tablespoonofbakingsodatoaquartof water. Rinse
thoroughlywithwaterandwipedry.Donot use cleaning
powdersorotherabrasivecleaners.DONOTwash
removablepartsinadishwasher.
Anopenboxofbakingsodainthe freezer will absorb stale
freezerodors.Changetheboxeverythreemonths.
CAUTION Dampobjectssticktocoldmetal
surfaces.DONOTtouchinteriormetalsurfaceswith wet
ordamphands.
In Case of Extended Power Failure
• Keepfreezerlidclosed.Yourfreezerwillkeep food frozen
for24hoursprovidedwarmairisnot admitted.
• Iffreezerisoutofoperationfor24 hours or more, add dry
ice.Leaveiceinlargepieces.Addmore ice as required.
CAUTION Handlingofdryicecancausefreezingof
thehands—glovesorotherprotectionisrecommended.
• Ifdryiceisnotavailable,movefood to a frozen food locker
temporarily—untilpowerisrestored.
Preparing to Move
TurnthetemperaturecontroltoOFF.Disconnectthe power
cordplugfromthewalloutlet.Removefoods, defrost (on
ManualDefrostmodels)andcleanthefreezer.
Securealllooseitemssuchasbasketsby taping them
securelyinplacetopreventdamage.
Besurefreezerstaysinuprightpositionduring actual
movingandduringtransportation.Thefreezermustbe
securedduringtransportationtopreventmovement.
Protectoutsideoffreezerwithblanket.
Preparing for Vacation
Tomaintainfreezerinoperationduringvacations,be sure
yourhousepowerisnotturnedoff.For sure protection of
freezercontents,youmaywanttoaska neighbor to check
thepowersupplyandfreezeroperationevery24 hours.
Forextendedvacationsorabsences,youmayprefer to
moveyourfrozenfoodstoastoragelocker temporarily. If
yourfreezeristobeleftempty,disconnect power cord plug
fromwalloutlet.Topreventformationofodors, place open
boxofbakingsodainfreezerandleave freezer lid open.
Save Money and Energy
• Thefreezershouldbelocatedinthe
coolestareaoftheroom,awayfrom
heat-producingappliancesorheating
ducts,andoutofdirectsunlight.
• Lethotfoodscooltoroom
temperaturebeforeplacinginthe
freezer.Overloadingthefreezer
forcesthecompressortorunlonger.
Foodsthatfreezetooslowlymaylosequality or spoil.
• Besuretowrapfoodsproperly,andwipe containers dry
beforeplacingtheminthefreezer.Thiscuts down on frost
buildupinsidethefreezer.
• Freezerbasketsshouldnotbelinedwithaluminum foil,
waxpaperorpapertowels.Linersinterferewith cold air
circulation,makingthefreezerlessefficient.
• Organizeandlabelfoodtoreducelidopenings and
extendedsearches.Removeasmanyitemsasneeded at
onetime,andclosethelidassoon as possible.

PREPARINGOFINSTALLATION
Read these instructions completely and carefully.
Freezer Location
Yourfreezershouldbeconvenientlylocatedforday-to-day
useinadry,well-ventilatedroom.
Donotinstallthefreezerwherethetemperature will go
below0°F(-18°C)orabove110°F(43°C),because it will not
maintainpropertemperatures.
Donotinstallthefreezerinalocation exposed to rain water
ordirectsunlight.
Besuretoinstallyourfreezerona floor strong enough to
supportitwhenitisfullyloaded.
Level Freezer
Levelthefreezerfromsidetosideand front to back so that
thelidwillsealproperly.Useshimsto level the freezer if
necessary.
NOTE: Itshouldnotbenecessarytoremovethe lid during
installation.If,forsomereason,thehingesneed adjustment,
seeinstructionsbelow.
Clearances and Ventilation
Allowatleast2”(50.8mm)clearanceon both sides of the
freezerand2”(50.8mm)betweentheback of the freezer
andthewall.Leaveroomabovethefreezer to open the lid.
Keepflammablematerialsandvapors,suchasgasoline, away
fromfreezer.
Donotcoverthefreezerwithitemssuch as blankets, sheets,
tablecloths,etc.Thisreducesaircirculation.
Lid Removal
CAUTION LIFTING HAZARD
Thelidisheavy.Usebothhandsto secure the lid before
lifting.
CAUTION HINGE SPRING UNDER TENSION
Ifitisnecessarytoremovethelid, follow these steps:
1.Removeeachupperhingecoverbygrasping on the sides
andpullingupwards.Removeeachlowerhingecover by
graspingonthesidesandpullingdown.
2.Openthelidtothemaximumposition. (The hinges are
loosestatthisposition.)
3.Loosen,donotremove,the4screws from the lower part
ofthehingethataremountedtothe cabinet.
4.Raise/lifttheliduntilthescrewsalign with the larger
slottedopeningsinthebottomofthehinge. Each hinge is
stillattachedtothelidwith4screws.
5.Toreinstalllidfollowstepsinreverse. Tighten all hinge
screwsbutavoidover-tighteningtopreventstripping.

2.Branchez lecordond’alimentation dansune prisede courant.
3.Assurez-vous deréglerla commandede températureà 4
(recommandé)entre 1(moinsfroid) et7 (plusfroid).
4.Laissez fonctionnerlecongélateur pendantau moinsquatre
heuresavant d’yrangerdes aliments.
Lacommande,situéeàl’avantdelacaisseducongélateur,estun
boutonrotatifréglableduniveau1(lemoinsfroid)auniveau7(leplus

deuxfois parannée.
Pourun fonctionnementefficacede votrecongélateur, nelaissez
pass’accumuler plusde1/4 po(6 mm)d’épaisseur degivre, en
moyenne,sur lesclayettes.
Pourenlever legivre,grattez avecun grattoirou unespatule en
plastiqueou enbois.
N’utilisez jamais un pic à glace, un objet métallique , ou un
instrument à vive arête. Ilspourraient endommagerourayer le
congélateur.
N’utilisez pas d’eau bouillante carelle peutendommagerle
congélateur.
N’utilisez pas de dispositifs électriques pour dégivrer votre
congélateur.
Dégivrage complet
1. Tournezlacommandedetempératureàl’extrême
gauchesurlapositionOFF(éteint)etdébranchez le
congélateur.
2. Retireztouslesalimentsdel’appareiletplacez-les
dansdesboîtesencartonondulé,dessacs isolants, des
glacières,etc.Enveloppez-lesdansdescouverturesou
desjournauxpourlesisoler,aubesoin.
3. Placezunbac(noninclus)devantlecongélateur, sous
lebouchondevidangeextérieurafinderecueillir l’eau.
Tirezcebouchonsurenviron2,5cm(1 po) jusqu’à ce
queletroudevidangesoittotalementvisible. Tournez le
bouchondanslesensdesaiguillesdefaçon que la flèche
pointeverslebas.Dévissezdanslesens contraire des
aiguillespourretirerlebouchondedrainageintérieur.
Celapermetàl’eaudes’écoulerdansle bac.
REMARQUE : L’eauquis’estaccumuléedanslefonddu
