1. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WARNING! Shock Hazard: Always switch off and unplug the vacuum cleaner from the
electrical outlet before assembling, opening or emptying the dirt container, or before
connecting/disconnecting the attachments.
CAUTION! Suction Hazard: This vacuum cleaner is a very powerful unit. Before plugging
the cord into the electrical outlet, make sure the switch is in the “off” position. Hold the
vacuum cleaner firmly when starting and in use.
When using the vacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including
the following.

WARNING - To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Always fully extend the power cord before use.
3. Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces.
4. Do not handle the plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
5. Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and
before servicing.
6. Turn off the vacuum cleaner before disconnecting or connecting from the main
electrical supply.
7. Always unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting the vacuum
hose and accessories.
8. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near
children.
9. This appliance is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have
been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
10. Use only as described in this manual. Use only the recommended attachments.
11. Do not use the vacuum cleaner if it has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or
dropped into water.
12. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, return
it to a service center.

13. Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
14. Do not pull or carry by the cord or the hose. Do not use the cord or the hose as a
handle, close a door on the cord or the hose or pull the cord or the hose around sharp
edges or corners. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over the cord or the hose. Keep
the cord away from heated surfaces.
15. Do not unnecessarily obstruct any openings of the vacuum cleaner as this may cause
the unit to not work properly or may damage the unit. Do not use with any openings
blocked and do not restrict airflow. Keep all openings free of dust, lint, hair or
anything that might reduce airflow.
16. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away from openings and
moving parts.
17. Do not vacuum anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or
hot ashes.
18. Do not vacuum flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene
etc.) or use in the presence of explosive liquids or vapors.
19. Do not vacuum any liquids.
20. Do not vacuum harmful or toxic materials (chlorine, bleach, ammonia,
drain cleaner etc.)
21. Do not vacuum hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
22. Do not use without the dust bag and/or filters in place.
23. Take extra care when vacuuming on stairs.
24. Keep vacuuming area well lit.
25. Turn off the on/off switch before unplugging the vacuum cleaner.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
IMPORTANT: To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

NOTICE: This appliance has a constantly rotating brushroll which, when left in contact with linoleum, parquet
and other hard floors can damage the floor surface. Raise the height of the brushroll to the highest setting, #5.
This can be done by adjusting the carpet height adjustor dial on the front of the vacuum’s base. Do this each time
when using this vacuum on linoleum, parquet and hard flooring. The manufacturer is not liable for damages to these
surfaces if the customer fails to follow this instruction.

3. HOW TO ASSEMBLE
a) Handle Assembly Tool required: Phillips screwdriver.
Slide the handle piece and back piece into the slots in the back of the unit. Insert the
screws into the holes as indicated, and tighten with a Phillips screwdriver. (Fig 3/1)
Slide the back piece into the slots in the lower base. Insert the screws into the two
holes just above the lower cord hook, and tighten with a Philiips screwdriver. (Fig 3/1.1)
b) Tool Storage
To attach tools:
(a) Clip the dust brush into the holster at the side of the cleaner with the bristles
facing out.
(b) Insert the crevice tool and extension wand into the slots on the side of the
cleaner. (Fig 3/2.1)
(c) Clip air powered pet tool onto the front of the cleaner. (Fig 3/2.2)

4. HOW TO OPERATE
a) Cord Release
Turn the upper cord release for easy cord removal (Fig. 4/1). Use the handy cord clip
located on the back just below the handle. This will allow you to secure any excess
cord and reduce any unnecessary risk while operating the appliance. (Fig. 4/1.1)
b) Carpet Height Adjuster
The handle needs to be in the upright and locked position. Turn the carpet height
adjuster knob to match the surface being cleaned as described around the knob
(Fig. 4/2). The dial will move freely and the vacuum height will automatically adjust
once the handle release pedal is pushed and the handle is lowered. For tile or a
carpet pile < ½” use a setting of 1. For ½” pile carpets use a setting of 2 to 4 and for
carpets with a pile height of > 1” use a setting of 5.

IMPORTANT: Always position the vacuum handle in a upright and locked position prior to
turning the carpet height adjuster. The vacuum height will adjust once the handle release
pedal is pushed and the handle is lowered.

c) On/Off Switch
• Plugthecordintotheelectricaloutlet.
• Turnthevacuumonbypressingtheredon/offpedallocatedonthelowerbackof
the unit.
d) Handle Release Pedal
To release the handle, push the handle release pedal located on the lower left side of
the cleaner. (Fig. 4/3)
CAUTION! Entanglement Hazard: The brushbar continues to rotate while the hose is being
removed or in use and at all times while cleaner is on. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and
all parts of the body away from brush area while cleaner is on. The vacuum cleaner must be
in the upright position to lift the rotating brush off the carpet when cleaning elevated areas
above the floor, such as steps.
e) Floor/Carpet Cleaning
Move the handle and adjust it to the desired position for: (Fig.4/4)

NOTE: The brushbar could cause rug fringe areas to become tangled within the cleaner. Use
care when vacuuming throw rugs with fringes.

f) Using the Accessories
• Thevacuumcleanerhandlemustbeainauprightandlockedpositioninorderto
raise or lower the brushbar. Turn the carpet height adjuster to the highest carpet
setting, #5. (Fig 4/5)
• Removethelowerhosefromthebaseofthevacuumandtheupperhosefrom
the hose caddy. (Fig. 4/6)
• Anyoftheaccessoriescanbedirectlyattachedtothehoseendortheendofthe
extension wand. (Fig.4/7)

• Simplypushtheattachmentrmlyontotheendoftheextensionwand.To
remove the tool, twist and pull apart gently. (Fig. 4/8)
There are several attachments that are found with this vacuum.
Air powered pet tool: Easily picks up pet hair and is great for upholstery and car
interiors. Attach to the wand as per all other accessories. For best results, use
backwards strokes on the surface you are cleaning.
Extension wand: Expand your reach by adding the wand to the lower hose.
Dusting brush: For use on smooth surfaces such as counter tops and shelves.
Floor Brush: For use on smooth surfaces such as tile and wood floors.
Crevice tool: For use in between tight areas and around corners.
IMPORTANT: Attach the tools to the connector before fitting to the handle or
extension wand.
Carry Handle: Use the carry handle located on the top of the dirt container lid to
move the cleaner from room to room. (Fig. 4/9)

5. DIRT CONTAINER AND
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF FILTERS

servicing.
a) Emptying the Dirt Container
1. Press the dirt container removal button and lift the dirt container from the cleaner.
(Fig. 5/1)
2. Hold the dirt container inside the trash can, (Fig. 5/2), and press the red dirt
container quick release button, located on the lower back portion of the can, to
empty it. (Fig. 5/2) Tap the dirt container on the inside of the trash can to remove
excess dust.
3. Wipe inside of the dust container and shroud with a damp cloth to remove
excess dust.
b) Foam Filter Removal and Replacement
1. To remove the foam filter, first remove the dirt container to expose the foam filter.
Press the tab on the bottom of the foam filter cover and pull to remove. (Fig. 5/3)

2. To clean the foam filter, separate the filter assembly by removing the foam filter
from its plastic housing. (Fig. 5/4) Tap the foam filter on the inside of a trash can
to remove excess dust and dirt from filter.
3. To wash the foam filter, hold it under running water to wash it (105°F max). Wring
excess water out of the filter. Allow the filter to dry for at least 24 hours before
replacing into the filter cartridge. (Fig. 5/4)
4. To replace the foam filter return it to the vacuum cleaner and snap it into place.
Replace the foam filter cover and snap it into place to secure. (Fig. 5/6)
NOTE: The filter housing also needs to be washed regularly with cold water and dried
thoroughly before replacing and restarting the vacuum cleaner.

c) Exhaust Filter Removal and Replacement
To remove the exhaust filter, first remove the dirt container and press the red tab on
the front of the exhaust cover and lift to remove. (Fig. 5/7)
1. Press the gray tab on the exhaust filter and lift the filter out of the base of the
vacuum cleaner. (Fig. 5/8)
2. To clean the exhaust filter, tap the filter on the inside of a trash can to remove
excess dust and dirt from filter. (Fig. 5/9)
3. Wash the exhaust filter under cold running water every 9-12 months. Leave the
filter to dry for 24 hours before replacing in the appliance.

4. To replace the exhaust filter, return the exhaust filter to the base of the cleaner
and snap into place. (Fig. 5/10)
5. Replace the exhaust filter cover and snap into place to secure. (Fig. 5/11)
d) Replacing the Dirt Container
1. Return the dirt container to the vacuum. Make sure to align the slot on the bottom
of the dirt container with the tab on the vacuum cleaner. Push to snap into place.

e) Regular Maintenance
• Eachtimethedirtcontainerisemptied,thefoamltershouldbecheckedand,
when necessary, cleaned (the filter will be discolored after use, this will not affect
the filter’s performance).
• Donotbrushthelter.
• Thecleaninginstructionsmayvarydependingonthedirtconditions.Insome
cases, the filter may need to be cleaned more often.

6. BELT OR BRUSHBAR:
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
Tool required: Phillips screwdriver
WARNING! Moving parts can pinch and crush. Unplug cleaner before changing belt or
brush.
To remove the belt:
1. Lay vacuum flat and flip the vacuum to expose the vacuum base plate located on the
underside of the vacuum (Fig. 6/1).
2. The base should lay flat and face up. To remove the base plate, use a Phillips
screwdriver to remove all seven (7) screws. Arrows show the location of the screws.

3. Remove base plate by lifting off. (Fig. 6/2)
4. Lift and remove the brushbar. Dispose of the old belt. (Fig. 6/3)

5. To replace the belt, slide the belt onto the motor shaft. (Fig. 6/4)
6. Place new belt in area of brushbar without bristles. (Fig. 6/5)
7. With the new belt in place, pull and slide the brushbar into the underside opening,
making sure that the brushbar end caps are in the correct orientation. (Fig. 6/6) Rotate
the brushbar manually to make sure the belt is properly aligned.
8. Replace the base plate onto the bottom of the cleaner. (Fig. 6/7)

9. Replace all seven (7) screws to secure the base plate. (Fig. 8/1)
7. GENERAL MAINTENANCE
WARNING! Moving parts can pinch and crush. Unplug vacuum before servicing.
a) Debris Removal from the Base Plate
Check to see if the dirt container is full. Empty if needed.
Plug the vacuum in and check to see if there is any suction at the end of the hose.
1. Unwrap the hose from the caddy. Twist and unlock to remove clogs. Clean out the
hose with a broom handle. Check the access door on the back of the vacuum cleaner
(near the hose end).
2. Remove all seven (7) screws, (Fig. 8/1), and check for any obstruction in the base
plate area of the underside of the vacuum. (Fig. 8/2) Refer to Belt and Brushbar
Removal and Replacement.
3. Remove the dirt container (refer to Dirt Container and Filter Removal and
Replacement) and check the dirt container inlet located just behind the container.
The inlet has a black rubber seal around the opening.

b) Debris Removal from the air powered pet tool
Turn the air powered pet tool over and slide off the locking ring. (Fig.8/3)
2. Pivot the lower housing and remove the clog. (Fig. 8/4)
3. To reassemble, make sure that the tabs are engaged. Pivot the lower housing
closed. (Fig. 8/5)
4. Slip the locking ring onto the groove at the neck of the air powered pet tool to
complete the reassembly.
IMPORTANT: If the inlet, hose or extension tube is blocked, switch off the vacuum cleaner
and remove the blockage(s) before restarting the vacuum cleaner.
IMPORTANT: Cleaning the filters regularly improves the vacuuming performance. Make
sure that all the filters are replaced back into the vacuum cleaner before using. This
vacuum cleaner is intended for household use only and not for commercial or industrial
use. Store the vacuum in a cool dry area. Any other service should be performed by an
authorized service center.

IMPORTANT: The motor is equipped with a thermal protector. If, for any reason, the vacuum
cleaner should overheat, the thermal protector will automatically turn the unit off. Should
this occur, unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet and turn off the switch.
Remove the dirt container andempty it. Clean the filters. Allow the vacuum cleaner to cool
for approximately one (1) hour. To restart, plug into an electrical outlet and switch back on.
8. TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING! Moving parts can pinch and crush. Unplug vacuum cleaner before servicing.
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
The vacuum cleaner won’t
run.
It is not properly plugged into the
wall outlet.
Plug in firmly.
There is no electricity in the wall
outlet.
Check the home fuse or breaker.
The on/off switch is not turned on. Push on/off switch to on.
The motor thermostat tripped. Switch off and unplug the vacuum
cleaner. Leave for one (1) hour.
Refer to General Maintenance
Instructions.
Blown fuse/tripped breaker in
home electrical box.
Reset the electrical box circuit
breaker or replace fuse.
The vacuum cleaner won’t
pick up.
The dirt container is full or
clogged.
Clean the dirt container.
The base plate opening is
clogged.
Remove obstruction. Refer to the
General Maintenance section.
