RÈGLES DE SÉCURITÉ IMPORTANTES
LIRE TOUTES LES INSTRUCTIONS AVANT D'UTILISER CET OUTIL.
1. CONSERVEZ L'AIRE DE TRAVAIL PROPRE. Le désordre est source de
blessures.
2. SOYEZ CONSCIENT DE VOTRE ENVIRONNEMENT DE TRAVAIL. N'utilisez pas
les outils électriques dans des endroits humides, mouillés ou insufisamment
éclairés. N'exposez pas vos outils à la pluie. Conservez l'aire de travail bien
éclairée. N'utilisez pas les outils en présence de gaz ou de liquides inflammables.
3. ÉLOIGNEZ LES ENFANTS ET LES SPECTATEURS. Les enfants doivent être
tenus à l'écart de l'aire de travail. Ne leur permettez pas de toucher les appareils, les
outils ou les rallonges. Les visiteurs peuvent causer une distraction et il est difficile
de les protéger contre les blessures.
4. PRENEZ LES PRÉCAUTIONS APPROPRIÉES CONCERNANT L'ISOLATION
DOUBLE. Cet outil est doté d'une isolation double. Il est équipé d'une fiche
polarisée. Une lamelle de la fiche est plus large que l'autre et elle ne s'insèrera dans
une prise de courant polarisée que d'une seule façon. Si vous éprouvez des
difficultés pour insérer la fiche, inversez-la. Si elle ne s'insère toujours pas, ne tentez
pas de modifier la fiche. Demandez à un électricien qualifié d'installer une prise de
courant polarisée.
5. PRÉVENEZ LES CHOCS ÉLECTRIQUES. Évitez le contact de votre corps avec les
surfaces mises à terre: tuyaux, radiateurs, cuisinières et réfrigérateurs. Si votre
corps est mis à la terre, le risque de choc électrique est augmenté. Si vous effectuez
des travaux dans les secteurs où des fils électriques sous tension pourraient être
touchés, tentez de déterminer s'il y a un risque de choc électrique. Mais en toute
circonstance, NE TOUCHEZ À AUCUNE PARTIE MÉTALLIQUE DE L'OUTIL
durant son usage. Tenez toujours l'outil par la poignée en plastique pour prévenir
les chocs électriques en cas de contact avec un fil sous tension.
6. MANIPULEZ LE CORDON AVEC SOIN. Ne transportez jamais votre outil par le
cordon et ne tirez pas sur le cordon pour le débrancher. Protégez le cordon des
sources possibles de dommages: chaleur, huile et solvants, rebords aiguisés ou
pieces mobiles. Remplacez immédiatement les cordons endommagés.
7. POUR LE TRAVAIL À L'EXTÉRIEUR, UTILISEZ TOUJOURS UNE RALLONGE
HOMOLOGUÉE POUR USAGE À L'EXTÉRIEUR. Une rallonge homologuée pour
usage à l'extérieur doit porter la marque «W-A» ou «W».
8. N'EXPOSEZ PAS LES OUTILS ÉLECTRIQUES À L'HUMIDITÉ. La pluie ou les
conditions humides peuvent causer l'infiltration d'eau dans l'outil et il peut alors y
avoir un risque de choc électrique.

9. ASSUREZ-VOUS QUE LA RALLONGE ÉLECTRIQUE QUE VOUS UTILISEZ EST
DE CALIBRE SUFFISANT POUR SA LONGUEUR.
10. RANGEZ L'ÉQUIPEMENT LORSQU'IL N'EST PAS UTILISÉ. Rangez l'outil dans
un endroit au sec pour empêcher la rouille. Il doit aussi être rangé dans un endroit
élevé ou sous clé, hors de la portée des enfants.
11. NE FORCEZ PAS L'OUTIL. Il fera un meilleur travail, de manière plus sécuritaire,
au rythme pour lequel il est conçu.
12. UTILISEZ L'OUTIL APPROPRIÉ. Ne forcez pas un petit outil ou un accessoire à
faire le travail d'un outil industriel plus gros. N'utilisez pas l'outil à une fin pour
laquelle il n'a pas été conçu.
13. PORTEZ DES VÊTEMENTS APPROPRIÉS. Ne portez pas de vêtements amples ni
de bijoux. Ils peuvent être happés par les pièces mobiles. Le port de gants de
protection à l'épreuve de la conductivité électrique et de souliers antidérapants est
recommandé durant le travail. Portez un couvre-tête de protection pour couvrir les
cheveux longs et prévenir les emmêlements.
14. PROTÉGEZ VOS YEUX. Utilisez un masque qui recouvre le visage tout entier si le
travail que vous effectuez produit de la limaille métallique, de la poussière ou des
éclats de bois. Des lunettes de sécurité sont appropriées dans les autres situations.
Portez un masque à poussière propre si le travail implique la création d’une grande
quantité de poussière fine ou à gros grains.
15. FIXEZ SOLIDEMENT LA PIÈCE DE TRAVAIL. Utilisez des pinces ou un étau pour
tenir la pièce de travail. C'est beaucoup plus sécuritaire que l'usage de vos mains et
ceci libère vos deux mains pour contrôler l'outil.
16. NE VOUS ÉTIREZ PAS. Conservez vos pieds sur le sol et maintenez votre équilibre
en tout temps. Ne vous avancez pas au-dessus ou à travers les outils en marche.
17. GARDEZ L'OUTIL EN BON ÉTAT. Gardez l'outil affûté et propre pour une meilleure
performance et plus de sécurité. Respectez les directives de lubrification et de
changement des accessoires. Gardez les poignées propres et sans sèches, huile ni
graisse.
18. ÉVITEZ LA MISE EN MARCHE ACCIDENTELLE. Assurez-vous que l'interrupteur
est à la position «ARRÊT» avant de brancher l'outil.
19. N'UTILISEZ PAS L'OUTIL SI L'INTERRUPTEUR «MARCHE /ARRÊT» NE
FONCTIONNE PAS CORRECTEMENT. Faites réparer votre outil avant de l'utiliser.
20. DÉBRANCHEZ L'OUTIL DE LA PRISE DE COURANT AVANT DE FAIRE LES
RÉGLAGES. Les changements de pièce ou d'accessoire peuvent être dangereux si
l'outil se met en marche accidentellement.
21. SOYEZ ALERTE. Surveillez vos mouvements et faites preuve de bon sens.
N'utilisez pas un outil quand vous êtes fatigué, ou sous l'influence d'alcool, de
drogue ou de médicaments.
22. SOYEZ À L'AFFÛT DE PIÈCES ENDOMMAGÉES. Avant d'utiliser cet outil, toute
pièce endommagée doit être examinée avec soin pour s'assurer qu'elle fonctionnera
correctement et qu'elle remplira sa fonction. Vérifiez l'alignement et le coincement
des pièces mobiles, le bris des pièces, les montures et toute autre condition qui
pourrait affecter le bon fonctionnement de l'outil. Examinez les vis et resserrez celles
qui sont relâchées. Toute pièce endommagée doit être correctement réparée ou
remplacée par un centre de service autorisé, sauf avis contraire ailleurs dans le
manuel de l'utilisateur. Les interrupteurs défectueux doivent être remplacés par un
centre de service autorisé. N'utilisez pas l'outil si l'interrupteur ne permet pas de
mettre l'outil en marche et de l'arrêter.

23. PIÈCES DE RECHANGE. Pour le service, n'utilisez que des pièces de rechange
identiques seulement.
24. LE SERVICE ET LES RÉPARATIONS doivent être effectués par les techniciens
qualifiés d'un centre de service autorisé. Des outils qui ne sont pas réparés
adéquatement peuvent causer un choc ou des blessures graves.
25. UTILISEZ SEULEMENT L'OUTIL LORSQUE LE PROTECTEUR EST EN PLACE.
Le protecteur protège l’utilisateur contre les pièces cassées du disque de ponçage si
elles sont projetées lors de l’utilisation.
26. VÉRIFIEZ TOUJOURS LA VITESSE NOMINALE DES ACCESSOIRES. Cet outil
fait tourner les accessoires à une vitesse de 11 000 tr/min. Les accessoires qui n’ont
pas été conçus pour les vitesses aussi élevées peuvent être éjectés et causer des
blessures graves.

DISQUES ABRASIFS
Votre rectifieuse HAUSSMANN est conçue pour accepter seulement des disques abrasifs
de 4-1/2 po et à alésage de 7/8 po. Assurez-vous que tous les disques utilisés avec
cet outil conviennent à la vitesse de 11 000 tr/min de cette rectifieuse. Avant d'installer
un disque, assurez-vous également qu'il n'est pas endommagé. Jetez tout disque
fissuré, qui a été échappé ou qui a subi d'autres dommages à cause de températures
extrêmes ou d'une exposition à des solvants. Un disque endommagé peut être
projeté lors de l'utilisation, ce qui risque de causer des dommages graves à
l'utilisateur et aux spectateurs.
PROTECTEUR
Votre rectifieuse est dotée d'un protecteur de disque réglable. Ce dispositif vous
permet de poncer à divers angles et d'obtenir une certaine protection contre
les résidus ou les débris projetés si un disque s'éclate lors de l'utilisation.
Débranchez la rectifieuse. Desserrez la vis de serrage du collet et tournez le
protecteur pour vous protéger et pour exposer le disque du côté approprié. Resserrez
l'écrou pour fixer solidement le protecteur. N'utilisez jamais cet outil sans le protecteur.
POIGNÉE LATÉRALE
La poignée latérale auxiliaire de la rectifieuse peut être montée du côté
gauche ou droit de l'outil. Débranchez la rectifieuse. Vissez la poignée solidement
dans le trou fileté d'un côté ou de l'autre de la tête motrice.
INSTALLATION DU DISQUE ABRASIF
1. Débranchez la rectifieuse.
2. Placez l'outil à l'envers.
Placez la bride interne de l'arbre de façon qu'elle corresponde avec les parties
plates de l'arbre.
Ajustez le disque sur le bossage de la bride interne.
Vissez l'écrou de retenue du disque. Selon l'épaisseur du disque, le bossage de
l'écrou de la bride externe peut être dirigé vers le haut ou vers le bas.
Ajustez les deux griffes de la clé dans les trous de l'écrou de la bride externe.
Appuyez sur le bouton de verrouillage de l'arbre et serrez solidement l'écrou à
l'aide de la clé.
Tournez le disque à la main et assurez-vous que le mouvement du disque n'est
pas obstrué.

UTILISATION DE LA RECTIFIEUSE
1. Branchez l'outil.
Maintenez solidement l'outil en saisissant la poignée latérale avec une
main et le boîtier avec l'autre. Assurez-vous que le disque abrasif n'est pas
obstrué. Avec le pouce, poussez l'interrupteur vers l'avant, sur le haut de l'outil.
L'interrupteur sera endommagé si vous mettez l'outil en marche ou vous l'arrêtez
pendant que le moteur tourne.
Pour arrêter l'outil, glissez l'interrupteur vers l'arrière.

AVERTISSEMENT: Éteignez l'outil immédiatement, débranchez-le et inspectez-le
et cherchez des problèmes graves si:
 les pièces en mouvement se coincent;
 la vitesse tombe à un niveau anormalement bas;
le boîtier du moteur devient chaud;
le boîtier laisse échapper des étincelles ou des odeurs.



ENTRETIEN
1. Vérifiez périodiquement les balais (après environ 250 heures d'utilisation) et remplacez-les
s'ils sont usés. Si vous avez remplacé les balais, faites tourner l'outil à vide pendant
15 minutes pour bien loger les balais.
2. Assurez-vous que les trous d'aération ne sont pas obstrués de poussière ou de
débris. Cela aidera à prévenir les courts-circuits électriques et assurera un
refroidissement adéquat de l'outil.
3. Gardez le boîtier et la poignée de l'outil propres et sans huile ni graisse, en vous
servant d'un linge humide (non mouillé) et de savon doux.
4. Évitez de surcharger la rectifieuse. Elle deviendra trop chaude et perdra son
efficacité. Faites fonctionner l'outil à vide pendant une ou deux minutes pour le
laisser refroidir à la température normale.
5. Inspectez régulièrement le cordon et faites-le remplacer par le personnel d'un
centre de service autorisé s'il est endommagé.
6. La lubrification de cet outil est effectuée à l'usine et aucune autre lubrification ne
devrait être nécessaire dans des conditions d'usage normal.
7. Inspectez régulièrement le disque abrasif pour y déceler toute fissure ou autres
dommages. N'utilisez jamais un disque endommagé.
8. Seul le personnel d'un centre de service autorisé doit effectuer des réparations,
des modifications ou un entretien qui exige de démonter la rectifieuse.
9. Tout dommage à l'outil doit être corrigé dans un centre de réparations autorisé.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS TOOL.
1. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2. CONSIDER WORK AREA ENVIRONMENT. Don’t use power tools in damp, wet, or
poorly lit locations. Don’t expose your tool to rain. Keep the work area well lit. Don’t
use tools in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.
3. KEEP CHILDREN AND BYSTANDERS AWAY. All children should be kept away
from the work area. Don’t let them handle machines, tools or extension cords.
Visitors can be a distraction and are difficult to protect from injury.
4. OBSERVE PROPER PRECAUTIONS REGARDING DOUBLE INSULATION. This
tool is double insulated. It is equipped with a polarized plug. One blade is wider than
the other, so it will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you have difficulty
inserting the plug, try reversing it. If it still doesn’t fit, do not alter the plug; have a
qualified electrician install a polarized outlet.
5. PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCKS. Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces:
pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerator enclosures. When your body is grounded
the risk of electric shock increases. When working wherever “live” electrical wires
may be encountered, try to ascertain whether there is a danger of shock. Even so,
DO NOT TOUCH ANY METAL PARTS OF THE TOOL while using it. Hold the tool
only by the plastic grip to prevent electric shock if you contact a live wire.
6. HANDLE THE CORD CAREFULLY. Never carry your tool by the cord or pull on the
cord to unplug it. Protect the cord from potential sources of damage: heat, oil &
solvents, sharp edges, or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately.
7. WHEN WORKING OUTDOORS, USE AN OUTDOOR-RATED EXTENSION CORD.
An extension cord rated for outdoor use must be marked “W-A” or “W”.
8. DO NOT EXPOSE ELECTRICAL POWER TOOLS TO MOISTURE. Rain or wet
conditions can cause water to enter the tool and lead to electric shock.
9. ENSURE THE EXTENSION CORD YOU USE IS OF SUFFICIENT GAUGE FOR

10. STORE IDLE EQUIPMENT. Store equipment in a dry area to inhibit rust.
Equipment also should be in a high location or locked up to keep out of reach of
children.
11. DON’T FORCE THE TOOL. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate
for which it was intended.
12. USE THE RIGHT TOOL. Don’t force a small tool or attachment to do the work of
a larger industrial tool. Don’t use a tool for a purpose for which it was not
intended.
13. DRESS PROPERLY. Don’t wear loose clothing or jewelry; they can be caught in
moving parts. Protective, non-electrically conductive gloves and non-skid
footwear are recommended when working. Wear protective hair covering to
contain long hair and keep it from harm.
14. USE EYE PROTECTION. Use a full-face mask if the work you’re doing produces
metal filings, dust or wood chips. Goggles are acceptable in other situations.
Wear a clean dust mask if the work involves creating a lot of fine or coarse dust.
15. SECURE WORK. Use clamps or a vise to hold the work. It’s safer than using
your hands and it frees both hands to operate the tool.
16. DON’T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not
reach over or across machines that are running.
17. MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer
performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Keep
handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
18. AVOID UNINTENTIONAL STARTING. Be sure the switch is in the OFF position
before plugging in.
19. DO NOT USE THE TOOL IF IT CANNOT BE SWITCHED ON OR OFF. Have
your tool repaired before using it.
20. DISCONNNECT THE PLUG FROM POWER BEFORE MAKING ANY
ADJUSTMENTS. Changing attachments or accessories can be dangerous if the
tool could accidentally start.
21. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing & use common sense. Don’t operate
any tool when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or
medication.
22. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Before using this tool, any part that is
damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly
and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts, mountings, and other conditions that may
affect its operation. Inspect screws and tighten any ones that are loose. Any part
that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized
service centre, unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in the instruction manual.
Have defective switches replaced by an authorized service centre. Don’t use the
tool if switch does not turn it on and off properly.
23. REPLACEMENT PARTS. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
24. SERVICE AND REPAIRS should be made by qualified repair technicians at an
authorized repair centre. Improperly repaired tools could cause serious shock or
injury.
25. USE ONLY WITH GUARD IN PLACE. The guard protects you, the operator,
from broken pieces of the wheel should it shatter in use.
26.ALWAYS CHECK THE SPEED RATING OF ACCESSORIES. T his tool will
spinaccessories at 11,000 RPM. Accessories not rated for this high speed will
very likely fly apart and could cause serious injury.

Figure 1 names the major components of the CK104-AG grinder:
GRINDING WHEEL
Your HAUSSMANN grinder is designed to accept only 4-1/2” abrasive discs with a 7/8”
bore. Check to ensure that any discs you use on this tool are rated for the
11,000 RPM speed of your grinder. Check also for any damage to an abrasive disc
before you install it. Any disc that shows a crack, has been dropped, or subjected
to other damage due to temperature extremes or solvents should be discarded.

GUARD
Your grinder comes with an adjustable wheel guard installed, to allow you to
grind at various angles and still be protected to some extent from flying residue or
debris should a disc shatter in use. Unplug the grinder. Loosen the clamping screw
on the collar and rotate the guard to give you protection and expose the disc on the
appropriate side. Tighten the screw to clamp the guard in place. Do not use this
tool with the guard removed.

SIDE HANDLE
The auxiliary side handle for your grinder may be mounted on either the left or right
side of the tool. Unplug the grinder. Screw the handle firmly into the threaded hole
on either side of the metal grinding head.
INSTALLING A GRINDING WHEEL
1. Unplug the grinder.
2. Turn the tool upside down.
3. Place the inner flange on the spindle so that it fits with the flats on the shaft.
4. Fit the disc over the boss on the inner flange.
5. Screw the wheel-retaining nut down over the disc. Depending on the disc thick-
ness, the boss on the outer flange nut can face down or up.
6. Fit the two prongs of the wrench into the holes in the outer flange nut.
7. Depress the spindle lock button and firmly tighten the nut with the wrench.
8. Turn the wheel by hand, checking for any obstruction to its free movement.
RUNNING THE GRINDER
1. Plug in the tool.
2. Hold the tool firmly with one hand on the side handle and the other gripping
the housing. Check to make sure the abrasive disc is not obstructed. Push the
switch on top of the machine with your thumb. Switching the tool on or off
under load will damage the switch.
3. To turn the tool off, slide the switch back.
WARNING: Turn off your tool at once, unplug and inspect it for serious problems if:
 Moving parts get stuck
 Speed drops to an abnormally low level
 The motor housing gets hot
 Sparks or odours emit from the casing

Check the brushes occasionally (after 250 hours of use) and replace if worn. If you replace
the brushes, run the tool without load for 15 minutes to seat the brushes properly.
Keep the vents clear of dust and debris. This will help prevent possible electrical
shorts and ensure proper cooling.
Keep the tool housing and handle clean and free of oil and grease using mild
soap and a damp (not wet) cloth.
Avoid overloading your grinder. It will become hot and lose efficiency. Running
it free of load for a minute or two will allow it to cool itself to normal temperature.

Check the grinding disc regularly for cracking and other damage. Do not use a
