Introduction
Description
The AQL-SS-6B-BOX and AQL-SS-D-BOX are mud box receptacles for the AQL-SS-6B and AQL-
SS-D Spa Side Remote Controls. The mud boxes are typically used for new cement or gunite
installations. They provide a secure receptacle for mounting the Spa Side remote controls after the
cement/gunite has been poured.

Flush Mount Installation
The AQL-SS-6B/D-BOX mud boxes are positioned in the desired location BEFORE the concrete is
poured. The included plastic cover will cover the mud box opening and prevent any cement from
entering the mud box while the cement is being poured. A 6” minimum section of 1”, 1¼” or 1½”
PVC pipe is attached to the mud box and will help support the mud box while the cement is being
poured. Follow the steps below for mounting the AQL-SS-6B/D-BOX. Refer to the diagrams on the
following page when following the steps below.
1. Find the desired location for the installation. The remote must be mounted in a location above
the high water line. Also consider that the mud box will have to be positioned and the electri-
cal conduit will need to be run back to the Aqua Logic before the concrete is poured. The mud
box face should be mounted flush or no more than ¼” underflush, to the mounting surface.
If mounting on a horizontal surface, drill ¼” hole through the drain boss to allow any moisture
to drain from inside the box. Attach a ½” I.D. plastic tubing to the boss and route to a location
where moisture can drain. See diagram below.
2. Install a minimum 6” piece of 1”, 1¼”, or 1½” PVC pipe for mounting support and also to ac-
commodate the AQL-SS-6B/D cable. Reduce the pipe to ½” or ¾” electrical conduit and run
back to the Aqua Logic, using sweep elbows for any turns in the run. See the diagram on the
following page.
3. Depending on the application, you may want to further secure the mud box by drilling 3/32”
holes in the outside ribs and fastening the mud box to nearby rebar using bailing wire. See
the diagram on the following page. Be sure that the mud box face is flush or no more than ¼”
underflush to the proposed tile line.
