Instructions for Using Product
To aid in the cleaning of small bore lumens and channels.
1. It is important to match the diameter size of the brush you are using with the
channel you are cleaning.
2. The Healthmark brush-sizing chart or similar type of tool may be used to select the
proper diameter brush.
3. It is also critical to select a brush which is longer than the channel to ensure that
the entire channel receives cleaning action.
4. Fold the cut end of the Flexistem Brush to avoid sharp edges.
5. It is also important to be sure the material composition of the brush bristles is
suitable for the device to be cleaned. This should be in compliance with the
manufacturer's IFU for the item.
Diagrams (drawings, pictures):
1. Select the proper diameter brush.
2. If using from a roll, cut to a length longer than that of the channel.
3. Use as a brush to clean and safely dislodge deposits. Refer to manufacturer’s IFU
when cleaning equipment.
4. Insert the cleaning brush into lumen using short strokes and a twisting motion
(helical spinning of the brush) to help remove debris from the lumen. Feed the
brush through the lumen until it emerges from the distal end of the lumen.
5. While brushing, the brush should pass freely through the lumen. If significant
resistance is encountered, stop advancing the brush and pull back - continuing to
brush through the resistance might cause damage to the lumen.
6. It is important to make sure the brush is long enough to exit the lumen or channel
completely when brushing so one can examine the bristles and clean them before
being used again.
7. Dispose of brush after use.
