Installing the OzWinch 316 Stainless Steel Marine Winch
This winch is designed to be attached to a mounting plate or structure capable of
supporting the load that is intended to pull its rated capacity.
Mounting location and hardware must support your winch and load. Refer to Table 1.
Winch Model Specifications, for rated capacity.
The winch can be mounted to a variety of substrates and the mounting hardware
should be matched accordingly.

For maximum strength and safety, this winch should be mounted with a
minimum of three (3) Grade 8 M10 bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts (not
included, sold separately). The bolt should attach the winch to the mounting
structure utilising the outside rear holes or slots matched according to either
existing mounting holes or new mounting holes to be drilled.
The third bolt should be inserted through the winch frame and mounting
structure in a manner to utilise the foremost remaining frame slot (hole) as
indicated in the Winch Mounting Example below.

Webbing Strap Replacement
This OzWinch 316 Stainless Steel Marine Winch is already supplied with a 7.5m
webbing strap and stainless steel safety hook (OzWinch part POMW-SS316-WS). The
parts should be replaced if damaged or worn.
To replace the Webbing Strap
1) Put ratchet pawl in reel out position. Reel the old webbing strap all the way
out by freewheeling the winch drum.
2) Using a hex key, remove the grub screw from the winch drum main shaft and
slide shaft outwards to remove from winch assembly
3) Remove the old webbing strap from the winch drum and discard.
4) Carefully insert the new webbing strap into the winch drum entry ensuring the
loop at the end of the webbing strap is open inside the winch drum to allow
the main shaft to pass through the webbing strap loop.
5) Reassemble the winch drum shaft into the winch assembly ensuring that the
shaft correctly aligns through the webbing strap loop and places into the shaft
sleeve.

6) Align winch drum and shaft screw holes and re-install grub screw using a
Loctite threadlocking product.
7) Put pawl in reel in position, then reel the new webbing strap onto drum by
turning the handle clockwise, ensuring that the webbing strap does not twist.
8) Test winch for proper operation.
Maintenance
This winch has been fully lubricated at the factory; however, for continued smooth
performance and increased life, it is recommended to occasionally perform general
maintenance approximately every 3 months dependent on use.
1) Greasing of gears and drum shaft with a white lithium grease product
2) Add a drop of oil on drive shaft sleeves.
H
HES Winches Australia also recommend the use of a lanolin-based protective spray
for prolonged longevity of your OzWinch product.
Inspect periodically all parts including webbing strap, replace them if damaged or
excessively worn.
WARNING
Never perform maintenance or repairs whilst winch is under load.
