2.HOW
TO
OPERATE
THE
MACHINE
l)Lubracation
Before operating themachine,fiJI the oil reservoirwith the lubricating oil
up
to"HIGH" level.

Thepedal is operated
in
four stages.
Thread
trimming
I. When the front part
of
thepedal is
depr
essed lightl
y,
low-speed stitching is performed.
2. When it is depress
ed
further, high-speed stitching is realized.
3. When thetreading pressure is rel
eas
ed
and the foot rests lightly on thepedal again, the sewing machine will stop.
(At
this point the needle wi
ll
be
down)
4. When the rearpart
of
the pedal i pushed
down
stronglywith the heel, the thread-trimmerwill operate.
o Even when the rear part
of
the pedal is depressed in
one
stroke during high s
peed
or
low speed stitching, the
thread trimmer will operatenormally.
o Immediately after the machine starts thread trimming, even
if
the pedal is returned to the neutral position, thread
trimming will
be
completed.
o When the machine stops, the needle will
st
op
in the down
po
sition.
If
you wish
to
raise the l
owe
red needle, firmly
depress the rearpart
of
the pedalonce. (Threads will
be
trimmed
at
the
same
time.)

Threading
the
machine
a.
Bring up the needle at the upperstop position and pass the
needle thread in the orderas shown in the fo
ll
ow
ing illustration.
*Turn the power switch
off
beforepassing the thr

d.
Alt
hough the hand wheel is free to rotate m
an
ua
ll
y with the pedal at the neutral position,you must switch
off
the
power source before threading the machine for safety sake. It al
so
prevents and accident which may be
ca
u
se
d
by
touching the pedal mistakenly.
b. Pass the loop

thread according to the foll
ow
ing illustration after the
need
le has been brought up to it's upper
dead position.
Do
not
wind
the
thread

through
the
thread
guide (lower)
of
the

ead
stand
.
All
other
threading
procedures
are
the
same
as
those
of
model
GK0058.

S)Adjusting
the
remaininglength
of
trimmed thread
If the thread left on tbe needle after thread trimming is too
short,it may
ca
use some skipstitches at the start
of
sewing
works. Especially when such elastic threads as. Nylon
or
Tetoron thread are used, the machine leaves shorter thread on
the needle than othertype
of
threads and fails to produce normal
stitches
at
the start.
Adjust the position
of
the wire drawing linkon the thread draw-
out component by moving it to the left so that the thread gujde
pin can provide
mor
e thread.
6)
Importantnotes for threadtrimming operation
Check that the needle and looper threads are smoothly running a
ll
the way. (The threads mut be free from any
entangelmentwith unnecessary part
of
threading
co
mponents.)

skip-stitches are formed, such threads can not
be
trimmed
off
.
When
yo
u trim the chain-
off
thread
or
form fine
stitcbes,
it
is essential to carefully adjustthe machine beforhand in ordernot to produceany
sk
ip-stitches.
3.HOW TO

The same methods

adjustment as those
fo
model GK0058 are
applied to this model excepting the thread spread
er
and the thread
trimming components.
Please refer to the separate INST

CTION MANUAL for model
GK0058 for the common adjustment.
l)Adjus
ting
th
e thread spreader
Ne
edle
a.Position
of
thethread spreader.
Crosswise position:
When the 3rd mark
of
the needle bar
is
just
comming out
of
the bottom end
of
tbe needle bar lower bushing, the distance between the center line
of
the
needle and the inside face
of
the thread spreadermust be 0.5mm.
If
necessary,
loosen the clamp screw

Lengthwise position:
When the needle
bar
has reached it'

position, the white colored points

the hand wheel and

2)Adjusting the movingknife
a.Moving knife mounting plateassembly.
The
preiminary test for thread trimming and thread clam
ping
can
be
done independently
on
the
moving knife mounting plate
assem

y.
(After the following adjustments
have
been
comple
ted, h
ook
the
threads manua
ll
y with
the
recessed part
of
the m
ov
ing knife, pull the
moving knife into the
counter
knife to
clamp
the
thr
eads
and
the
thread will be trimmed off.)

The
top
end
od
the spring and the
bottom surface
of
the
moving knife must
evenly
engage
wit
h
each
other. You
do
not need to adjust it,becausc the adjustment
has
been
done
at
our
factory.

The
position
of
the moving knife is determined
by
those
of
the
moving knife mounting plate, installing
base

the said plate and
the stopper plate.

clamping
arm
The
most frontward pisition
of
the wiper.
The
most frontward position
of
the
wiper
is determined
by
the
position
of
the wiper driving solenoid. Adjust the position
of
the
solenoid
by
means
of
the screw

so
that the top end
of
the
wiper
reaches the l
eft
end
of
the presserfoot when the solenoid plunger bas
gone
up
to it's highe
st
pos
ition.
*Aftera proper position has been obtained,
check
that the wiperdoe
not
contact with the needle and also that the cushion attached to the
wiper driving arm rests
on
the bottom surface
of
the arm when the
wip
er
has been brought back.
If
the cushion docs
not
re
st
on
the
arm surface, you must asjust the
position
of
the solenoi
d,
because the solenoid has been in tailed
at
a
higher position
or
the stroke
o(
the solenoid is shorter than the
standard
of
8.5mm.
4)Adjust
the
needlethread clamping arm
The
function
of
the n
edd
le thread clamping arm is to clamp
tl1e
needle
thread which was bandied by the wiper in
order
to prepare
fo
r the
following
sew
ing works. Adjust the tension
of
the
spring
so
that the
clamping pressure is in a range
of
30
to
40g
when the cotton needle
thread
No
.60 is being pulled out.
This
pressure is
common
to all kinds
of
sewing threads. Therefore,
you do not n
eed
to change
th
e said pressure
every
time after a thread is
replaced.
*Adjust it with
care
not
to apply uneven pressure to thespring.
