Chapter 1. Brief introduction
iDS-2XM6810F-I(M)/C, mobile dual-lens people counting camera, based on the binocular stereo
vision technology, adopting 3D head detection and 3D tracking, can obtain accurate real -time
trajectory of all moving objects within the monitoring scope, analyze the trajectory data and achieve
high-precision people counting. It greatly improves the statistical accuracy rate and optimizes the
adaptive capacity of camera which includes anti-vibration capability, radiation protection capability.
The camera can be used in some complex scenes such as city bus, company bus, shopping bus,
interurban coach, etc. Meanwhile together with mobile DVR/NVR, platform and server, solutions with
comprehensive data analysis and query system can also be established.

Chapter 2. Installation specification
For mobile cameras, installation and wiring are different from ordinary cameras. Please read this
chapter carefully before installation and the below are some key points should be considered:
Patch cord should be ordered in advance;
Proper installation position should be considered;
Correct connection for door opening/closing level signal;
Correct configuration.

2.1 Accessary

2.2 Installation Position
2.3.1 General information
Mobile dual-lens people counting camera requires the high level of the installation position and the
environment.Please pay great attention to the mounting position. Inappropriate mounting position
may cause loss of accuracy.
What is “Entry/Exit Area”: for bus, it’s near the door where standing is forbidden, region of
the first step usually; for coach, it’s the combined region of the first step and the second
step.
Camera should be installed near the door, if the height of the door is larger than or equal
to 2.2m, meanwhile the maximum detection width can totally cover the whole door, it can
be installed above the door frame directly. If not, it can adjust slightly to be inside. Please
make sure that the camera is close to the door and the distance should not be more than
1/2 of the Entry/Exit area. Keep the position in the center of Entry/Exit area.
Lens of the camera should face downward vertically with logo of Hikvision inward. Keep the
arrow on the sticker outward if the mounting template is used.
In live view, make sure you can see the footboard region and part of ground outside,
counting area can cover footboard region and part of the ground outside.
The movement direction of People is up and down when they get on the bus or leave.

Different installation height corresponds to different maximum detection widths. Please
refer to the corresponding table of Lens Height - Maximum Detection Width when choosing
the position, which avoids the situation that the passageway cannot be covered and
detected completely after installation.

2.3.2 Bus Solution
For bus, the Entry/Exit Area is always large and near the door where standing is forbidden.
If the height of the door is higher than or equal to 2.2m, and the Maximum detection width

can cover the whole passageway, just install the camera above the door frame directly. If
not, adjust the installation position inside, but the distance shouldn’t be more than 1/2 of
the pedal area, otherwise it will affect the accuracy rate. Keep the lens downward and ensure
the image in the Entry/Exit Area and near the door. Counting area needs cover the Entry/Exit
Area and parts of outside the ground. The installation and the live view pictures are shown
as below :

2.3.3 Coach Solution
For coach, it has some steps and the first step isn’t suitable to be set as the Entry/Exit area.
It had better set the Entry/Exit area composed of the first and second step. The camera
should be installed above the “Entry/Exit Area”as close to the door as possible. Ensure the
center of image is closed to the door. Keep the counting area cover the Entry/Exit area and
parts of outside the ground. The installation and the live view pictures are shown as below:

2.4 Installation and Wiring Step
2.4.1 Installation Step
Choose proper installation position and mount the camera according the following steps :
1) Remove the housing by the hexagonal screwdriver:
2) Thread cable through the hole and hold the pad to the camera’s base

3) Post the mounting template and keep it towards the outside of vehicle. Drill a hole on the
vehicle for wiring, thread the camera’s cable through the hole and fix the camera to the top
of the vehicle with screws.
4) Adjust the angle to make sure the lens is downward vertically and fix the lens.
5) Put the housing back and finish installation.
2.4.2 Wiring and Power On
Power on and configure the camera. Please note that the connection for mobile is different with
conventional camera.
1) Power on the camera: It is no need to use the patch cord if the vehicle can adapt the joint
directly. Otherwise, connect the patch cord which needs to order separately with camera’s cable or cut
the power connector. The power adapt is suggested to access in the “Vehicle on Fire”, or it will cause
the loss of counting.
2) The signal of opening/closing door: It is a necessary parameter of algorithm, the connection
configuration is different according to the type of the signal (Level Signal or Pulse Signal )
Level Signal:
a) Level Signal transfers on two-wire cord, which will be changed by the door status.
b) Please use the multi-meter to measure the level value, which corresponds to the state of the door.
For the device, 0-3.5V will be regarded as low level and above 6V will be regarded as high level.
The maximum accessible voltage is 30V.
c) Connect the signal of opening/closing door to ALARM IN1 and GND of device.
Pulse Signal:
a) Pulse Signal is composed of three-wire which are used for opening/closing door and
GND. It will output a pulse signal from each wire when opening and closing the door.
b) Please use the multi-meter to measure the pulse voltage. 0-3.5V will be regarded as
low pulse and above 6V is high pulse. The maximum accessible voltage is 30V.
c) Connect the pulse signal wire of opening door with ALARM IN1.
d) Connect the pulse signal wire of closing door with ALARM IN2.
e) Connect the 2 GNDs with the GND of car.

3) Data transmission connection: It is different according to the host type (DVR or NVR).
a) NVR Solution: Connect the network cable to the POE port of NVR.
b) DVR: Connect the positive side of the power cable to the vehicle ignition switch,
negative side to the GND and 485 cable to DVR.
Chapter 3 Configuration
3.1 Configuration Step
3.1.1. Image Configuration
1. Make sure the environment is bright enough but not overexposure.
2. Make sure device time is correct and then disable OSD.
3.1.2 Alarm Input Configuration
Alarm input configuration is needed and the configuration method is different according to the signal
type.
Level Signal：
1) Enter [Configuration]-[Event]-[Basic Event]-[Alarm Input].
2) Choose the alarm type according to the correspondence between high/low pulse and
open/close door status (Set alarm type as “NC”if high pulse corresponds to opening door,
low pulse corresponds to closing door). The rest parameters are as default and configure
the “Arming Schedule”, and then save the configuration.

Pulse Signal：
1) Enter [Configuration]-[Event]-[Basic Event]-[Alarm Input].
2) Set Alarm Input No as A<-1. If the alarm is triggered by high pulse, set “Alarm Type” as
“NO”, if triggered by low pulse, set “Alarm Type” as “NC”. Then save the configuration.
3) Set Alarm Input No as A<-2. If the alarm is triggered by high pulse, set “Alarm Type” as
“NO”, if triggered by low pulse, set “Alarm Type” as “NC”. Then save the configuration.
3.1.3 485 Configuration (It is needed only when DVR is used)
1) Enter [Configuration]-[System]-[System Settings]-[RS485].
2) Parameters should be set as shown below. If there are several cameras, make sure the “PTZ
Address” is different.

3.1.4 People Counting Configuration
1) Before the configuration, keep the door open.
2) Enable People counting: [Configuration]-[People Counting], check “Enable People
Counting”.
3) Manual calibration mode: input the height (from Entry/Exit area to the camera) and click
“Calibrate”, then a red frame and a yellow line will automatically appear in the image. The
red frame is for counting and the yellow line is for detection. Make sure the red frame covers
the Entry/Exit area and part of ground outside and the arrow of the yellow line points inside.
4) Move the yellow line close to the door then adjust its length to ensure it will not been
crossed by the door.

5) Draw the Entry/Exit area. Confirm the nodes which the supported maximum number is 10
by left mouse button and click right mouse button to confirm the drawn area.
6) Save it after finishing the configuration. Set the Arming schedule and linkage method.

3.1.5 Configuration of Trigger Counting Mode：
1) Enter [Configuration]-[People Counting]-[Data Uploading].
2) Choose the trigger counting mode according to the actual situation.
a) None: It is enabled by default and not recommended. It will keep counting all the time
and will influence the accuracy rate. RS-485 data transmission isn’t supported under this
mode.
b) Triggerd by Alarm Input: It controls the open/closed status via accessing the siganl.
The choice of alarm input is according to the “Level Signal”or “Pulse Signal“. For the
configuration of alarm input, please take Chapter 3.1.2 for the reference. RS-485 data
transmission is supported under this mode.

3.1.6 Related Parameters
1) HTTP Data Transmission: Our device supports transmit the people counting data via HTTP
protocol.which is mainly used for the development of 3rd party.
2) OSD Overlay: It supports display the real-time counting information in the live view image.
Enter, Leave, Enter/Leave and None are optional.
3) Display Rule Info.on Stream: It will display the ID number and height information of
tracking people after enabling it. The recording file will overlay these information and it
can be checked via VS Player. It should enable the function of Display POS Information in
the below path: [configuration]-[Local] if we want to see these information in the live view
image.

4) Height Filter: Enable the function and set a height value. Persons and objects shorter than
the set value are not counted as a valid target.
5) Counting Status: It displays the current status of the camera. There are three types
optional: Counting, Stop counting, Pause counting. You can click Refresh button to refresh
the status.
Counting: Count normally.
Stop counting: Disable people counting function.
Pause counting: The door is closed or the scene is too dark.
6) Door Status (only available for mobile camera): It displays the vehicle door status. Click
Refresh to update the status.

7) Daily Reset Time: To reset the counter, you can set up a daily reset time. Or you can reset
the counter manually by click Manual Reset.
8) Clear Storage Data: To clear stored data on camera, you can click the Clear button. Always
do the operation with caution. Deleted data cannot be restored.
3.2 Configuration Instruction
3.2.1. Entry/Exit Area Configuration
1) Keep the door open.
2) Generally Entry/Exit Area is set as the first step and the boundary between the first and
second steps must be specific.
3) The size of Entry/Exit Area shouldn’t be set too large or small, which may cover the
redundant area outside the step or cover incompletely.

3.2.2. Detection Line Configuration
1) The detection line should be drawn inside the vehicle and near the boundary of door and
ground.
2) The length of detection line should cover the width of door properly.
3) The position should be near the counting area, not too close to the edge of the counting
area.
4) The direction must point to the inside of vehicle.
3.3 Statistics Results
1) Enter [Application]-[People Counting]
2) Choose a Report Type (Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Annual Report are selectable).
3) Choose a Statistics Type (People Entered/People Leaved/People Passing By are selectable).
4) Choose Start Time.
5) Click Counting button. Click the different chart modes (Table, Bar Chart and Line Chart are
selectable) to display the result. You also can export the data in an excel file.

Chapter 4 Device Information Access
Generally we need to get some related rules and configuration information during the
debugging process.
