Hoffman 906 Series Manual

Thermostat Hardware
• Thermostat cover
• Thermostat base
• Electrical box cover (for a 2” X 4” electrical box).
Mounting Hardware
•
Two #6 x 1/2” painted screws (secures electrical box cover to
electrical box).
• Two #6 x 1” phillips screws (secures Thermostat base to elec-
trical box cover).
• Three Wire nuts (secures stat wiring to field wiring).
• Two Wall anchors (for direct to wall mounting).
Electrical Mounting
All 906 Series Thermostats – Figure 1
(Miniature & standard sizes)
1.
Remove Thermostat cover from Thermostat base. (See Figure
3.)
2.
Insert wires from Thermostat base through the 1/2” hole in the
electrical box cover.
3.
Wire Thermostat to field Thermostat cable using wire nuts.
(Color-coded to assure proper connection.)
4.
Mount electrical box cover to the electrical box with two #6 x
1/2” painted head screws. (See Figure 1.)
NOTE
Be sure the Thermostat base is centered on electrical box
cover. If incorrectly installed, the Thermostat base will
not symmetrically align with the electrical box cover.
5.
Attach Thermostat base to electrical box cover with the two pre-
mounted #6 x 1” phillips screws. Do Not Remove nylon shims.
The Thermostat base can be mounted with less than 1/16”
clearance to the electrical box cover.
NOTE
Clearance is required to allow the Thermostat cover to
snap onto the base.
CAUTION
Thermostat base should be firmly secured to the electrical
box cover. Do not over tighten!
6.
Place Thermostat cover onto Thermostat base, securing the
left side first, then push right side until it “snaps” securely into
place.

Miniature size, horizontal Thermostats
906-13 & -19 Series: 13AW, 13ADRW, 19CDRW, 19DDRW only
1.
Remove Thermostat cover from Thermostat base. (See Figure
3.)
2.
Wire Thermostat base to field Thermostat cable using wire
nuts. (Color coded to assure proper connection.)
3.
Place the Thermostat base on the wall at the proposed mount-
ing location. Use the two premounted #6 x 1” phillips screws
(in the Thermostat base) as a template to mark the location for
the wall anchoring hole location.
4.
Drill holes at markings for plastic wall anchors. Do Not
Remove nylon shims (holding the pre-mounted screws in the
Thermostat base).
5.
Install wall anchors. Attach Thermostat base directly to
the wall with the two premounted #6 x 1” phillips screws.
Thermostat base will mount with less than 1/16” clearance to
wall.
6.
Place Thermostat cover onto Thermostat base, securing left
side first, then push right side until it “snaps” securely into
place.

NOTE
The Thermostat assembly should be held against a solid
surface, if it is not mounted on the wall.
1.
When facing the Thermostat cover, place a small screwdriver
between the 4th and 5th ribbed openings on the right side of
the Thermostat cover.
2.
Push firmly to the left and to the back side of cover until latch
releases the base from the cover.

To attach the cover, place the cover onto the Thermostat base,
securing left side first, then push right side until it “snaps”
securely into place.
Duct Sensor Installation
Mounting Procedure
• Drill 5/16” size hole in the duct.
• Remove grommet from sensor.
• Install grommet into the 5/16” hole.
• Slide the sensor into the grommet.
Mounting Instructions
Figures 1, 2, and 3 depict the miniature size, horizontal
Thermostat; 906-13AW, 13ADRW, 19CDRW, 19DDRW. The
standard size, vertical Thermostats (906-13W and 906-13DRW
not shown) are specially designed for electrical box mounting only.

Note:
The 906 Series Thermostat design allows only those
persons with specific instructions entry to the internal
components.
