WATERHEATERSAFETY
Under certain conditions hydrogen gas may be produced in
a water heater that has not been used for two weeks or
more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE.

Checkthe WaterTemperature
The enlefing waler must be at leasl 120°F. and nol more than
150 °F., tor ettective cleaning and to prevent dish damage. Check
lhe waler temperature xdth a candy or meal lhennomeler. Turn on
lhe hot wamr t_tucel nearest tim dishwasher, place tim flmnnomemr
in a glass and let lhe wamr nm continuously inlo lhe glass unlil lhe
lemperam|-e slops rising.

ProperUseof Detergent
Use only detergent spedftcally made ft)r use in dishwashers. Cascade<_
Automatic Dishwashing Detergent has been approved ft)r use in all GE
dishwashers. Keep your detergent fiesh and dU. Don't pul powder
detergent into the dispense) until you're ready I,)wash dishes.
The amount of demrgent lo use depends on whether your wamr is
hardor soft. Wid_ hard wamr, you need extra detergent. With soft
water, you need less dem)gent.
Protect your dishes and dishwasher by contacting your water
depmlment and asking how hard your water is. Twebe or more grains
is exlremely hard wamr. A wamr softener is recommended. Wiflaout it,
lime can build up in the water valve, which could slick while open and
cause flooding. Too nmch demrgent xdda soft water can cause a
pemmnent cloudiness ofglasswme, called etching.
You'll find m_)detergent dispensers on the
inside door of your dishwasher. All wash cycles
require dete)gent in the nmin cup. Wash cycles
with twowashes xdll also use the open cup. When
using antomadc dishwashing detergent tabs,
simply place one lab in the main cup and close.
Be sure the Dial is OFFbetore adding
detergent. Otherxdse, flae detergent cup will not
close and latch properly. Add detergent then close dae main cup.
/VOTE."To open detergent cup after it has /{
been closed, simply turn the detergent cup
handle counter-clockxdse until it releases.
A snapping sound may be heard.

appearance of racks and silverware baskets may vary from your model
Upper Rack
The upper rack is for glasses, cups and saucers.
Cups and glasses fit best along lhe sides. This is
also a secure place for dishwashe>s_b plastics.
The upper rack is good for all kinds of odd-
shaped ulensils. Saucepans, mixing bowls and
other imms should be placed tace d_x_.

Lower Rack
Whenloadingthelowerrack,donot loadlargeplattersor

fromcirculatingduringthewashcycle.
The lower rack is best used tbr plains, smlcers, and
cookware. Large items such as broiler pans and
racks should go along the sides. D_ad platters,
pols and bowls along lhe sides, in comers, or in
the back. The soiled side of items should face the
center of the rack.

Caringforthe dishwasher.
Toclean the control panel use a lightly dampened cloth then dry
thoroughly. Toclean the exterior use a good appliance polish wax.
Never use sharp objects, scouring pads or harsh cleaners on any
part of the dishwasher.
Protect Against Freezing
If your dishwasher is left in an unheated place during
lhe _dnler, ask a sel_ice technician 1o:
Cut Off electrical power It) lhe dishwasher. Remove
fllses or lrip circuil breaker.
Turn off tile waler supply and disconnecl lhe waler

An air gap prolecls your dishwasher againsl waler
backing up inlo itif adrain clogs. The air gap is nol a

wanamy. Not all plumbing codes require air gaps, so

The air gap is easy to clean.
Turn off the dishwasher and lift off llle
