HoverCam Pilot X User manual

Pilot X/S comes equipped with state-of-the-art wireless
interactive casting technology called HoverCast. Using
the HoverCast Receiver, Pilot X is capable of casting a

Unlike other wireless casting technologies, HoverCast has
virtually no loss in image clarity and no noticeable delay0[
does not use a WiFi network or interfere with local WiFi
networks.
When used with a Touch-USB enabled display
(supported by most “interactive” panels and projectors),
HoverCast also sends the user’s touch inputs from the
display back to the tablet. This allows the user to control
their tablet from the display.

How Does HoverCast Work?
HoverCast is composed of two main components: the HoverCast Wireless Antenna (preinstalled
on the Pilot X/S Tablet) and the HoverCast Wireless Receiver (an accessory to be plugged into
the intended display). The Antenna and Receiver are pre-paired one-to-one out of the box, so they
will connect automatically when set-up properly. There is no software to install or passwords to enter.
The HoverCast wireless signal travels similarly to a beam of light. Light doesn’t pass through walls,
so neither will the HoverCast signal.HoverCast will only work when the HoverCast Wireless
Antenna and HoverCast Wireless Receiver are used in the same room.

The tablet·s HoverCast Wireless Antenna and the
included HoverCast Wireless Receiver each
contain an array of antennas facing multiple
directions to increase the likelihood of a successful
connection. This allows the signal to occasionally
bounce off of walls and eventually form a steady
signal. However, completely blocking line of
sight between the antenna and receiver will
interrupt the signal.
HoverCast works best when the tablet·s HoverCast Wireless Antenna is directly facing the
HoverCast Wireless Receiver (which will be placed near the output display). For boosted reception,
you can angle the tablet·sHoverCast Wireless Antenna forwards by 20º. Increasing the tilt angle of
the radio signal can potentially increase signal strength. When unobstructed, the tested range for the
HoverCast receiver is over 100 feet.
Do not position any large solid objects between
the antenna and receiver that can completely cut
off transmission. Do not stand too closely in front of
the antenna or receiver. Do not crowd or completely
block the antenna or receiver with your hands, books,
or other objects that can completely cut off line of
sight.

HoverCast Set-Up
Install the Receiver: Install the HoverCast Wireless Receiver on or near the intended output
display by hand-tightening the retention nut clockwise until the the unit is secure. The receiver can
also be placed near a projector, AV console, or other output interface, as long as it retains line-of-
sight of the tablet·s HoverCast Wireless Antenna. For a visual reference, please see the
HoverCast Positioning Diagram on pages 23, 24 and 25.
Connect HDMI: Find an available HDMI-In port on the output display·s interface panel, and
connect the HoverCast Wireless Receiver via the included HDMI Cable.
Connect Touch-USB (optional):If you are using a Touch-USB enabled displayÀQGDQ
available Touch-USB port on the output display·s interface panel, and connect it to the HoverCast
Wireless Receiver via the included Type-A or Type B USB 2.0 Cable, depending on the panel's
interface type. If output display·s interface panel has multiple Touch-USB inputs, be sure to use the
Touch-USB port number that corresponds with the HDMI-In number that is being used. (Example: If
you are using the HDMI 2 input, also use the Touch-USB 2 input).
Supply Power to the Receiver: Locate an available A/C wall outlet, and connect the
HoverCast Wireless Receiver with the included HoverCast Power Adapter. When properly
powered, the receiver will display a single red solid light.

The HoverCast signal can be blocked by obstructing
objects. Make sure the antenna and receiver maintain
line-of-sight.
The HoverCast Wireless Receiver’s front must face
outwards, towards the receiver and away from any walls
or cavities.
The HoverCast signal is strongest when the antenna
and receiver maintain line-of-sight. The maximum
tested range is 100 feet.
The HoverCast signal can pass through windows. Avoid
facing the HoverCast antenna towards windows, and
opt for line-of-sight positioning.
In some environments (like enclosed rooms with little
obstructions), the antenna can face away from the receiver
and the HoverCast signal can bounce off walls and
connect to the HoverCast receiver.
Make sure the HoverCast Wireless receiver is not
mounted backwards. The front of the receiver should
face wherever the tablet will be used most frequently.

HoverCast Positioning Guide 24
Do not tuck theHoverCast Wireless Receiver behind
panels or in other enclosed spaces. The receiver should
be mounted high and within line-of-sight of the antenna.
When using with a ceiling-mounted projector, make sure
the front of the HoverCast Wireless Receiver is directed
downward towards the antenna. Use zip-ties or adhesive to
secure the receiver to the underside of mounted projectors.
Do not place the HoverCast Wireless Receiver facing
towards the ceiling when mounting on a projector. Adjust
the receiver placement so that it faces downward.
Be sure to mount the HoverCast Wireless Receiver
facing away from walls, and in plain sight.
While placing the HoverCast Wireless Receiver in low
-sight of the antenna when doing so.
Do not place the HoverCast Wireless Receiver in enclosed
spaces like cabinets or walled A/V carts. Always make sure the
receiver is placed as high as possible so that it maintains
uninterrupted line of sight with the antenna.
