GETTING STARTED
The HSS Globe Light provides glare free Omni
directional general light for a multitude of
applications.
Never use the HSS Globe Light until you have fully
read and understood this User Guide and the
machine has been properly set up using the
information it contains.
Extension leads should be fully unwound and
loosely coiled, away from the equipment. Never run
them through water, over sharp edges or where
they could trip someone.
Always remove the plug from the power socket
before undertaking any type of intervention on the
light or if it is left unattended or within children or
people’s reach not quite conscious of their own
actions.
When unplugging always pull the plug, not the
supply.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, always use a
suitable RCD (Residual Current-Operated
Device) available from HSS Hire.
Ensure the power socket is switched OFF before
plugging into the power supply.
The HSS Globe Light requires a 110V 16 Amp power
supply, obtainable from a 110V generator or from
the mains via a suitable transformer. Never connect
110V equipment directly to the 230V mains
electricity supply.
This light must be connected to grounded power
socket.
If the equipment fails, or if its power supply cable or
plug becomes damaged, return it. Never try to repair
it yourself.
Keep cables out of harm’s way, and clear of the work
area.
This lamp has a hook on the base to allow
suspension from ceiling or wall, it can be tripod
mounted with a mounting accessory or simply
placed on the floor.
The panel socket on each lamp allows them to be
linked together making them great for walk way
lighting. You can link up to 25 lights.
The light is provided by a 57 watt compact
fluorescent tube which gives off a clean white light
which helps to eliminate shadows caused by
alternative lighting. It also gives off virtually no heat so
is suited to working in confined spaces.
BASIC TECHNIQUES
Take the Globe Light to the work area and site it so
that it is away from pedestrian traffic but near enough
to the work to provide sufficient light.
Ensure that the power supply is switched OFF, then
plug the power supply cable into the power supply.
Once connected, switch ON the power. There is no
ON/OFF switch on the unit; the light is controlled
from the power supply.
The Globe Light is fitted with a 110V 16 Amp power
take off socket which can be used either to power a
hand tool, radio or additional light units dependent
on the input power
If linking a series of Uplights, the maximum quantity
you can connect together in any run is 25 lamps.
To connect a series of lamps, position all the lights
first, then connect each together starting with the one
farthest from the power supply.
When positioning one or more lights make sure
that the power supply cables are out of harms way
and that they do not cause a trip hazard. If
required, tie back cables with cable ties or clips.
Once all the lights are connected to each other, plug
the host light into the power supply and switch the
supply ON.
The lamps are designed to absorb slight knocks by
rocking on their base if they are bumped into, if used in
this manner they will continue to provide light without
any problem.
Always unplug the lights from the power supply before
moving or re-positioning them.
