The battery will last approximately 8 hours in
receiving mode and 1.5 hours (in total) if
transmitting.
To charge the battery simply plug the transformer
into the charger unit, insert the battery pack,
ensuring it is the correct way up. Plug the
transformer into a suitable power supply and
switch on. The battery should be fully charged in
about two hours.
Charge the spare battery during the day and
exchange with the units battery each morning.
In an emergency, you may use six Nickel Cadmium
Batteries as a suitable replacement.
Run the battery down completely before re-
charging.
Do not attempt to use the radio if the battery is
damaged. Do not recharge damaged batteries.
Never push the equipment beyond its design
limits. If it will not do what you want with reasonable
ease, assume you have the wrong tool for the job. Ask at
your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Handle the equipment with care. Avoid dropping it,
knocking it, or otherwise exposing it to damage.
Never expose the equipment to excessive
moisture, dust or dangerous/corrosive chemicals.
Keep the equipment clean. You will find this less of a
chore if you clean up regularly rather than wait until the
end of the hire period.
When not in use, remember to switch off, then
store the radio somewhere clean, dry and safe
from thieves.
Replace the two-way radio back in its case complete with
spare battery pack, charger unit and transformer ready
for return (see case layout).

tired, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

competent person who has read and understood
these instructions.
Check the equipment before use, if it shows signs
of damage or excessive wear, return it.
If the equipment fails, or if its flex or plug is
damaged, return it. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
The battery charger is designed to plug straight
into a standard 240V 13A power socket.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, use a
suitable RCD (Residual Current-Operated Device)
available from your local HSS Hire Shop. Alternatively,
power the charger from a mains circuit with a built
in RCD.
Remember, using electrical equipment in very
damp or wet conditions can be dangerous.
Slide back and lift off the battery compartment
cover then install the battery pack into the unit
and replace the cover.
Attach the aerial (screw fit, right thread).
Switch the radio on – a single tone confirms that
the batteries are charged, then switch off.
All radio units must be tuned in to the same colour
code and channel to transmit and receive
messages.
With the unit switched off you should check the
colour code and channel frequency settings – Make
sure that all units are synchronised.
Push and hold the colour code selector button (A)
and channel selector button (B) then turn the unit
on. The unit will give an audible tone confirming it
is ready to be programmed/tuned to the
desired channel.
