PREPARATION
Be ore you start the installation, please take a moment to amiliarize yoursel with the parts
list and supplies list. We also encourage you to read the instructions be orehand so that you
may understand the installation requirements.

INSTALL THE CONTROL HEAD
Use the instructions in the ollowing section to gimbal mount the control head on your boat.
NOTE: If you pr f r to mount th Humminbird control h ad ov rh ad, follow th instructions
in this s ction and install th gimbal brack t abov th control h ad (s Install the Gimbal
Bracket Overhead Mount). Ov rh ad and/or thin pan ls may r quir additional hardwar
(s parat purchas r quir d) to s cur ly mount th control h ad.
1|Determine t e Mounting Location
Pre-assemble the control head to plan the best mounting location.
1. Place one urethane washer on one o the gimbal knobs. Thread the gimbal knob and
washer into the control head housing and tighten using 2-3 rotations. This will allow the
knob to stay in place while leaving adequate space to install the control head into the
bracket in the proceeding steps. See the illustration Assemb ing the Contro Head.
2. Repeat step 1 or the other side o the control head.
3. Install the control head into the arms o the bracket mount. Con irm the ront o the
gimbal bracket is aligned with the ront o the control head (see the illustration Gimba
Bracket).
4. Hand-tighten the gimbal knobs to secure the control head to the gimbal bracket.
5. Place the assembled control head in various locations to determine the best mounting
location.
Consid r th following wh n choosing a mounting location:
•The mounting area should allow su icient room (approximately 2 to 4 inches [50.8
to 101.6 mm]) behind the chosen location to drill up to our 1-inch (25.4 mm) holes
or the cables to pass through.
•The mounting sur ace should be stable enough to protect the control head rom
excessive wave shock and vibration.
•The mounting area should allow su icient room so the control head can pivot
through its ull tilt range.

•The mounting location should allow or visibility during
operation, as well as easy installation and removal.
•You must have access, either above or below the
mounting sur ace, to pass the cables through to the
control head.
6. Test route the appropriate cables (power, accessory, etc.) to
the control head mounting location. I the cables are too
short or your application, extension cables are available.

2|Drill t e Mounting Holes
1. Loosen the gimbal knobs and remove the control head rom
the gimbal bracket.
2. Place the gimbal bracket in the chosen position on the
mounting sur ace and mark the our outer screw locations
using a pencil or center punch (see the illustration Gimba
Bracket: Mounting Ho es). Con irm the ront o the bracket is
acing orward.
NOTE: Th out r mounting hol s ar r comm nd d.

3. Set the gimbal bracket aside. Select an appropriately sized
drill bit or the #10 wood screws and drill our pilot screw
holes.
NOTE: Wh n drilling hol s in fib rglass, start with a
small r bit and us progr ssiv ly larg r drill bits to
r duc th chanc of chipping th out r coating.
4. Mark and drill a 1-inch (25.4 mm) diameter hole that will
allow you to run the cables close to the mounting bracket.
This hole should be centered approximately 2 to 4 inches
(50.8 to 101.6 mm) rom the back o the control head.
NOTE: Your installation may r quir additional cabl
hol s. Mark and drill up to four hol s according to th
instructions in st p 4.
5. Insert the plastic cable grommets (included) to smooth the
hole edges and prevent damage to the cables.

Re er to the section that applies to your installation and per orm
the procedures to install the gimbal bracket.
Traditional Mount
1. Place the bracket on the mounting sur ace aligned with the
drilled holes and ill the holes with marine-grade silicone
sealant.
2. Place one lat washer on each wood screw and install the
wood screws into the our mounting holes (see the
illustration Insta ing the Gimba Bracket).
3. A ter all our screws are in place, tighten each screw until
secure.
4. Place the control head back onto the gimbal bracket (see
Determine the Mounting Location or details). Adjust the
control head viewing angle as needed and tighten the gimbal
knobs until the assembly is secured.
Ov rh ad Mount
1. Place the bracket on the mounting sur ace aligned with the
drilled holes. Fill one hole with marine-grade silicone
sealant.
2. Place one lat washer on a wood screw and install the wood
screw into the hole (see the illustration Insta ing the Gimba
Bracket). Repeat or the remaining three holes.
3. Tighten each screw until it is secure.
4. Place the control head back onto the gimbal bracket (see
Determine the Mounting Location or details). Adjust the
control head viewing angle as needed and tighten the gimbal
knobs until the assembly is secured.

INSTALL THE TRANSDUCER
Review the transducer installation options and the transducer mounting requirements in the ollowing sections. Then proceed to the
installation section or your transducer type as ollows:
•DualBeam PLUS Transducer
•Side Imaging Transducer

TRANSDUCER INSTALLATION OPTIONS
Your ONIX control head includes either a DualBeam PLUS transducer or a Side Imaging transducer. Depending on your transducer type,
there are different options available or mounting the transducer on the boat. Review the transducer installation options below.
Transom Transducer Installation
Availabl for th DualB am PLUS transduc r and th Sid Imaging transduc r.
Your transducer includes the transom mounting hardware. See Transom Transducer
Insta ation or additional in ormation.
In-Hull Transducer Installation
Availabl for th DualB am PLUS transduc r only.
In-hull mounting generally produces good results in single thickness, fiberglass-hulled boats.
See Dua Beam PLUS Inside the Hu Insta ation or installation instructions.
Humminbird cannot guarantee depth per ormance when transmitting and receiving through
the hull o the boat, since some signal loss occurs. The amount o loss depends on hull
construction and thickness, as well as the installation position and process.
NOTE: This installation r quir s slow-cur two-part poxy. Do not us silicon or any oth r
soft adh siv to install th transduc r, as this mat rial r duc s th s nsitivity of th unit. Do
not us fiv -minut poxy, as it has a t nd ncy to cur b for all th air bubbl s can b
purg d, thus r ducing signal str ngth.
NOTE: Th int gral t mp ratur prob will not work with in-hull mounting, so you may want
to consid r purchasing a T mp ratur /Sp d acc ssory, a T mp S nsor, or obtaining a
diff r nt transduc r.

Trolling Motor Transducer Installation
Availabl for th DualB am PLUS transduc r and th Sid Imaging transduc r.
You can purchase a Trolling Motor Adapter kit that will allow you to mount the transducer on
the trolling motor. I you already have a trolling motor bracket, re er to the separate installation
instructions that are included with the bracket.

TRANSOM TRANSDUCER INSTALLATION
Your ONIX control head includes transom mounting hardware or your DualBeam PLUS or
Side Imaging transducer. Review the mounting requirements in this section, and then proceed
to the section or your transducer type to begin the installation.
NOTE: Du to th wid vari ty of hulls, only g n ral instructions ar pr s nt d in this

valuat d prior to installation. It is important to r ad th instructions compl t ly and
und rstand th mounting guid lin s b for b ginning installation.
INSTALLATION OVERVIE
The transom mount installation provides the ollowing:
•Least loss o signal since the transducer is mounted outside the hull.
•Allows adjustment o both running angle and depth a ter the transducer is mounted, which enables you to tune the installation
or best results.
•The mounting hardware is designed to pivot the transducer body out o the way should the boat strike debris in the water, or when
trailering.
TRANSOM TRANSDUCER MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS
You must irst determine the best location on the transom to install the DualBeam PLUS or Side Imaging transducer. Review the
ollowing in ormation to help you identi y the best mounting location.
Turbulence
It is very important to locate the transducer in an area that is relatively ree o turbulent
water. Consider the ollowing to ind the best location with the least amount o turbulence:
Turbul nc : As the boat moves through the water, turbulence is generated by the weight o
the boat and the thrust o the propeller(s) - either clockwise or counter-
clockwise. This turbulent water is normally con ined to areas immediately a t o
ribs, strakes, or rows o rivets on the bottom o the boat, and in the immediate
area o the propeller(s).
Prop ll rs: Clockwise propellers create more turbulence on the port side. On outboard or
inboard/outboard boats, it may be best to locate the transducer at least 15" to
the side o the propeller(s). The Side Imaging transducer has additional
mounting requirements. See the section Side Imaging Transducer Mounting
Requirements.
I the transom is behind the propeller(s), it may be impossible to ind an area
clear rom turbulence, and a different mounting technique or transducer type
should be considered.

Obs rvation: The best way to locate turbulence- ree water is to view the transom while the boat is moving. This method is
recommended i maximum high-speed operation is a high priority. I this is not possible, select a location on the
transom where the hull orward o this location is smooth, lat, and ree o protrusions or ribs.
Boat C aracteristics
St pp d Hulls: On boats with stepped hulls, it may be possible to mount the transducer on the step. Do not mount the transducer on
the transom behind a step to avoid popping the transducer out o the water at higher speeds. The transducer must
remain in the water or the control head to maintain the sonar signal.
Trail ring: I you plan to trailer your boat, do not mount the transducer too close to trailer bunks or rollers to avoid moving or
damaging the transducer during loading and unloading o the boat.
Hig -Speed Operation
DualB am PLUS Transduc r
Traveling over 65 mph with the transducer in the water is not recommended or the 200/50 kHz DualBeam PLUS transom mount
transducer (XNT 14 74 T), as damage might occur. I high-speed operation is critical, you may want to consider using an inside the hull
transducer instead o this transom mount transducer (see Dua Beam PLUS Inside the Hu Insta ation).
Sid Imaging Transduc r
Side Imaging sonar is best per ormed at boat speeds rom 2 to 6 mph, and is not recommended or high-speed operation as gaps
between strips o in ormation can appear. However, the transducer can support traditional 2D sonar and Down Imaging sonar at higher
speeds (up to 65 mph).

The hydrodynamic shape o your transducer allows the beam elements to point straight down
without deadrise adjustment.
Sid Imaging Transduc r
In order or the side beams to be displayed accurately, the transducer must be mounted parallel
with the waterline. This positioning allows the beam elements to point straight down without
deadrise adjustment.

INSTALL THE DUALBEAM PLUS TRANSDUCER
Use the procedures in the ollowing sections to install the DualBeam PLUS transducer on
your boat. Your installation choices are as ollows:
•Transom Mount
•Inside the Hull Mount
NOTE: Your transduc r might not look xactly lik th illustrations in this guid , but it will
mount in th sam way.
DUALBEAM PLUS TRANSOM MOUNT INSTALLATION
1|Prepare t e Mounting Location
In this procedure, you will determine the mounting location and drill two mounting holes,
using the transducer mounting bracket as a guide.
1. Con irm you have read the transducer mounting requirements under Transom
Transducer Mounting Requirements.
2. Make sure that the boat is level on the trailer, both rom port to starboard and rom
bow to stern, by placing your level on the deck o the boat, irst in one direction, then in
the other.
3. Hold the mounting bracket against the transom o the boat in the location you have
selected. Align the bracket horizontally using the level. Make sure that the lower corner
o the bracket does not protrude past the bottom o the hull, and there is at least 1/4"
clearance between the bottom o the bracket and the bottom o the transom or
iberglass boats, and 1/8" clearance or aluminum boats.
NOTE: If you hav a flat-bottom d aluminum boat, som additional adjustm nt may b
n d d to accommodat th riv ts on th bottom of th boat (in oth r words, th gap
may n d to b a littl small r than 1/8"). This will h lp you to avoid xc ssiv turbul nc
at high sp ds.
NOTE: If your prop ll r mov s clockwis as th boat mov s forward (as you'r facing th
st rn of th boat from b hind), mount th transduc r on th starboard sid , and align
th bottom right corn r of th mounting brack t with th bottom of th boat. If your
prop ll r mov s count rclockwis as th boat mov s forward (as you'r facing th st rn
of th boat from b hind), mount th transduc r on th port sid , and align th bottom
l ft corn r of th mounting brack t with th bottom of th boat.
4. Continue to hold the bracket on the transom o the boat, and use a pencil or marker to
mark where to drill the two mounting holes. Mark the drill holes near the top o each slot,
making sure that your mark is centered in the slot, as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Th third hol should not b drill d until th angl and h ight of th transduc r is
finaliz d, which you will not do until a lat r proc dur .
5. Make sure that the drill bit is perpendicular to the actual sur ace o the transom, NOT
parallel to the ground, be ore you drill. Using a 5/32" bit, drill the two holes only to a
depth o approximately 1".
NOTE: On fib rglass hulls, it is b st to us progr ssiv ly larg r drill bits to r duc th
chanc of chipping or flaking th out r coating.

2|Assemble t e Transducer and Initial Mounting
In this procedure, you will assemble the transducer using the hardware provided, then mount it and make adjustments to its position
without locking it in place.
NOTE: You will initially ass mbl th transduc r and th pivot arm by matching th two ratch ts to a numb r d position on th
transduc r knuckl . Furth r adjustm nts may b n c ssary.
D t rmin Your Transom Angl
1a. If you alr ady know your transom angl , re er to the chart below or the initial position to use to set the ratchets. I your transom
is angled at 14 degrees (a common transom angle or many boats) use position 1 or the ratchets. In either case, go to step 2.

1b. If you do not know your transom angl , measure it using a plumb line (weighted nylon string
or mono ilament line) exactly 12 inches long. Hold the top o the plumb line against the top
o the transom with your inger, and wait until the line hangs straight down. Using a ruler,

2. Place the two ratchets, one on either side o the transducer knuckle, so that the beads on
each ratchet line up with the desired position number on the knuckle. I you are setting the
ratchets at position 1, the beads on each ratchet will line up with the rib on the transducer
knuckle to orm one continuous line on the assembly.

3. Hold the ratchets on the transducer knuckle with one hand and it the pivot arm over them

4. Put the pivot bolt through the assembly to hold it in position and loosely install the nut,
but do NOT tighten the nut at this time.

With a 5/16" socket driver, mount the assembly to the transom using the two #10 - 1"

9. Adjust the transducer assembly vertically, until the seam on the leading edge o the
transducer (the edge closest to the transom o the boat) is level and just slightly
below the hull.
NOTE: Th transduc r has a natural downward slant of 4 to 5 d gr s from l ading dg
(clos st to th boat transom) to trailing dg (farth st away from th boat). Looking at
th back of th transduc r, th s am should b slightly b low th bottom of th hull.
10. Continue to adjust the transducer assembly until the bracket is also level rom port to
starboard (horizontally level as you look at the transducer rom behind the boat).
11. Mark the correct position on the transom by tracing the silhouette o the transducer
mounting bracket with a pencil or marker.
12. Tighten the pivot bolt, using the pivot screw and nut to lock the assembly. Hand-tight n
only!
CAUTION! Do not us a high sp d driv r on this combination of fast n rs. Hand-tight n
only.
13.Snap open the assembly and hand-tighten the two mounting screws, then snap the
assembly closed.
NOTE: You will drill th third mounting hol and finaliz th installation aft r you rout
th cabl and t st and finish th installation in th following proc dur s.

DUALBEAM PLUS INSIDE THE HULL INSTALLATION
In-hull mounting generally produces good results in single thickness, fiberglass-hulled boats. Humminbird cannot guarantee depth
per ormance when transmitting and receiving through the hull o the boat, since some signal loss occurs. The amount o loss depends
on hull construction and thickness, as well as the installation position and process.
NOTE: Th int gral t mp ratur prob will not work with in-hull mounting, so you may want to consid r purchasing a

1|Determine t e Transducer Mounting Location
Decide where to install the transducer on the inside o the hull. Consider the ollowing to find
the best location:
•Observe the outside o the boat hull to find the areas that are mostly ree rom turbulent
water. Avoid ribs, strakes, and other protrusions, as these create turbulence (see Areas
of Possib e Turbu ence).
•As a general rule, the aster the boat can travel, the urther a t and closer to the centerline
o the hull the transducer has to be located in order to remain in contact with the water
at high speeds (see Preferred Mounting Area).
2|Trial Installation
You will not be able to adjust the mounting a ter an inside the hull transducer is installed. It is
best, there ore, to per orm a trial installation first that includes running the boat at various
speeds, in order to determine the best mounting area be ore permanently mounting the
transducer.
1. Plug the transducer into the control head, then power up the control head. I the unit
does not power-up, con irm that the cable connectors are properly connected and that
power is available.
2. S tup Guid : See the section Setup Guide or initial start up instructions. You must
complete the steps indicated in the Setup Guide be ore starting normal operation.
NOTE: Aft r compl ting th S tup Guid , th control h ad will automatically nt r normal
op ration.
3. Press the HOME key .
4. Select a sonar view rom the Favorites bar to display on-screen.
NOTE: S your control h ad op rations manual for mor information about s l cting
vi ws.
5. View the sonar signal at its best by holding the transducer over the side, immersed in the
water, so that it is pointing straight down over a known flat bottom. Use the display to
benchmark against the sonar signal that will be detected once the transducer is placed
in the hull.
6. Place the transducer body ace down at the identified mounting location inside the hull,
with the pointed end towards the bow (see In-Hu Transducer Insta ation).
7. Fill the hull with enough water to submerge the transducer body. Use a sand-filled bag or
other heavy object to hold the transducer in position. The transducer cannot transmit
through air, and the water purges any air rom between the transducer and the hull, and
fills any voids in the coarse fiberglass sur ace.
8. View the sonar signal on the display and compare against what was observed in Step 5,
making sure that the boat is in the same location as it was during your observations in
Step 5. I the results are comparable, move on to Step 9. Otherwise, locate a new position
in the hull and repeat Steps 6 through 8.
9. Run the boat at various speeds and water depths while observing the screen on the
control head. I depth per ormance is required, test the transducer in water at the desired
depth. I the per ormance is acceptable, move on to Step 10. I the per ormance is not
acceptable, repeat Steps 6 through 9.
10. Once you have determined the best mounting location using the above steps, mark the
position o the transducer.

3|Route t e Cable
1. Once the mounting location is determined and you have marked the position o the
transducer, route the cable rom the transducer to the control head.
4|Permanently Mount t e Transducer
1. Make sure the position o the transducer is marked.
2. You may have to disconnect the cable to the control head and reconnect it at the end o
this procedure.
3. Remove the water rom inside the hull and thoroughly dry the mounting sur ace. I the
sur ace is excessively rough, it may be necessary to sand the area to provide a smooth
mounting sur ace.
4. Mix an ample quantity o two-part slow cure epoxy slowly and thoroughly. Avoid trapping
air bubbles.
5. Coat the ace o the transducer and the inside o the hull with epoxy (see In-Hu
Transducer Insta ation and App ying Epoxy to the Transducer).
6. Press the transducer into place with a slight twisting motion to purge any trapped air
rom underneath, keeping the pointed end o the transducer body pointed orward,
towards the bow (see Insta ing the Transducer).
NOTE: Prop r op ration r quir s th point d nd of th transduc r body to fac towards

7. Weight the transducer so that it will not move while the epoxy is curing.

INSTALL THE SIDE IMAGING TRANSDUCER
Use the procedures in this section to install the Side Imaging transducer on your boat. The
transducer mounting template is provided at the end o this manual (see Side Imaging
Transducer Mounting Temp ate).
NOTE: S th Transom Transducer Mounting Requirements b for b ginning th
installation.
SIDE IMAGING TRANSDUCER MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS
Side Imaging Transducer
Side Imaging Requirements
In addition to the requirements shown in the Transom Transducer
Mounting Requirements section, the Side Imaging transducer has
some special requirements because o its side viewing
capabilities:
•The Side Imaging transducer must NOT have anything
obstructing the ‘view’ o the side looking beams. For
example, nothing can be in the line o sight o these beams
(not a hull, motor, additional transducer, etc.). See the
illustrations below.
NOTE: You may n d to tilt th motor up and out of
th way wh n using th sid looking b ams.
Multiple Transducer Installation (optional)
I you have installed or are planning to install a second transducer
in addition to this Side Imaging transducer, you must determine
which transducer will be used as the primary source or traditional
2D sonar when operating the boat at high speeds (up to 65 mph).
There are special mounting requirements or the Side Imaging
transducer depending on i it will be in the water or out o the water
during high-speed operation.
Primary Sourc - Sid Imaging Transduc r
I you plan to use the Side Imaging transducer as the primary
source or traditional 2D sonar and Down Imaging sonar during
high-speed operation (up to 65 mph), mount the transducer at
least 15" rom the center o the engine with an unobstructed view
on both sides o the transducer (see Side Imaging Requirements
and the illustration Transducer Mount Position: Unobstructed
View).
Primary Sourc - S condary Transduc r
I you plan to use a second transducer as the primary source or
traditional 2D sonar only during high-speed operation (up to 65
mph), mount the Side Imaging transducer where it will not be in
direct water low. For this installation, you may install the
transducer less than 15" rom the center o the engine. R vi w

•The Side Imaging transducer can be mounted on or near the
centerline o the boat and higher on the transom to prevent
direct contact with water low under the boat at high speeds.
Con irm that the transducer is low enough on the transom to
be submerged in the water at low speeds. It should not come
into contact with the motor when it is raised or lowered.

•The Side Imaging transducer can be mounted to the jack

The tr nsducer is too close to motor turbulence, nd the Side Im ging view
is blocked by the motor. The view c nnot extend from side-to-side.

Deadrise
•In order or the side beams to be displayed accurately, the transducer must be mounted
parallel with the waterline. This positioning allows the beam elements to point straight
down without deadrise adjustment (see the illustration Deadrise).
NOTE: Rough s as, high sp d, and air bubbl s can also aff ct th r ading of th Sid
Imaging transduc r.
1|Mount t e Transducer Bracket
In this procedure you will mount the bracket, using the mounting template provided as a
guide. This template allows you to mark where the mounting holes should be drilled. See
Side Imaging Transducer Mounting Temp ate at the end o this manual.
1. Con irm you have read the transducer mounting requirements under Transom
Transducer Mounting Requirements and Side Imaging Transducer Mounting
Requirements.
2. Cut out the transducer mounting template rom the back o this manual (see Side
Imaging Transducer Mounting Temp ate). Match the mounting bracket screw slots to
the template screw slots.
3. Hold the template on the transom o the boat in the location you have selected. Align
the template vertically, matching the lower edge o the transom with the bottom corner
o the template.
NOTE: If your prop ll r mov s clockwis as th boat mov s forward (as you'r facing
th st rn of th boat from b hind), mount th transduc r on th starboard sid , and
us th bottom l ft corn r of th t mplat . If your prop ll r mov s count r-clockwis
as th boat mov s forward (as you'r facing th st rn of th boat from b hind), mount
th transduc r on th port sid , and us th bottom right corn r of th t mplat .
4. Continue to hold the template on the transom o the boat, and use a pencil or punch
to mark where to drill the three mounting holes shown on the template.
5. Using a 5/32" bit, drill the three holes only to a depth o approximately 1".
NOTE: On fib rglass hulls, it is b st to us progr ssiv ly larg r drill bits to r duc th
chanc of chipping or flaking th out r coating.
6. Use a marine-grade silicone sealant to ill the drilled holes, especially i the holes
penetrated the transom wall.
7. Align the metal mounting bracket with the mounting holes. The center slot o your
mounting bracket should be above the two outer slots. Insert the three 1" lat head
wood screws into the drilled holes, but do not completely tighten.
NOTE: Th mounting brack t and all oth r hardwar suppli d is top quality stainl ss

2|Assemble t e Transducer
In this procedure you will attach the pivot to the transducer using the hardware provided.
1. Attach the pivot to the transducer body as shown in the illustrations using the square
nuts, toothed washers, and two 1/4–20 x 5/8" machine screws. The square nuts will be
prevented rom rotating by the pocket in the back o the pivot. The toothed washers
must it on the inside o the transducer ears, between the pivot and the ears.
NOTE: An All n wr nch is provid d which fits all of th 1/4–20 scr ws, but do not fully
tight n th scr ws at this tim .

1. Slide the assembled transducer into the metal bracket rom the bottom, aligning the
large hole at the top o the bracket with the hole in the pivot.
2. Insert the headed pin through the pivot holes in the bracket and pivot. The headed pin
can be inserted rom either side o the bracket.
3. Place the nylon washer over the opposite end o the headed pin. Place the stainless
washer over the 1/4–20 x 5/8" screw threads, then insert into the opposite end o the
headed pin and inger tighten only. The screw has a thread locking compound on the
threads to prevent loosening, and should NOT be ully tightened until all adjustments
are made.
4|Adjust t e Running Position
The running position o the transducer is now completely adjustable. Subsequent adjustment
may be necessary to tweak the installation a ter high speed testing. The mounting bracket
allows height and tilt adjustment; the machine screws allow angle adjustment.
NOTE: Sid Imaging is b st p rform d at boat sp ds from 2 to 6 mph. If th boat is
stationary, th sam information is display d ov r and ov r. If th boat is moving too
quickly, th r will b gaps b tw n th strips of information. Th b st boat sp d to us

fast r sp ds can b us d at short r rang s.
1. Adjust the angle o the transducer body irst, so it is parallel with the hull o the boat.
Fully tighten the two machine screws using the supplied Allen wrench. Access the
machine screws through the lower holes in the side o the mounting bracket.
2. Next, adjust the height o the assembly so the ace o the transducer is 1/8" to 1/4"
beneath the bottom o the transom, and ully tighten the three mounting screws. To
access the mounting screws, pivot the transducer assembly up into the bracket as
shown in the illustration Tightening the Mounting Screws.
CAUTION! B car ful not to alt r th running angl , as som forc is n c ssary to pivot

3. I access to the top mounting hole is not possible due to the selected height o the
transducer, ully tighten the two lower screws. Remove the headed pivot pin and the
transducer assembly, tighten the top screw, and then reassemble.
4. Con irm that the pivot angle has not changed and that all mounting screws are ully
tightened.

Route t e Transducer Cable
The transducer cable has a low profile connector, which must be routed to the point where the
control head is mounted. There are several ways to route the transducer cable to the area
where the control head is installed. The most common procedure routes the cable through
the transom into the boat.
NOTE: Your boat may hav a pr - xisting wiring chann l or conduit that you can us for
th transduc r cabl .
1. Unplug the other end o the transducer cable rom the control head. Make sure that the
cable is long enough to accommodate the planned route by running the cable over the
transom.
NOTE: Th transduc r can pivot up to 90 d gr s in th brack t. Allow nough slack in
th cabl for this mov m nt. It is b st to rout th cabl to th sid of th transduc r
so th transduc r will not damag th cabl during mov m nt.
2a. If you ar routing th cabl ov r th transom of th boat, secure the cable by attaching
the cable clamp to the transom, drilling 9/64" diameter holes or the #8 x 5/8" wood
screw(s), then skip directly to Connect the Transducer Cab e.
or...
2b. If you ar routing th cabl through a hol in th transom, drill a 1 1/8" diameter hole
above the waterline. Route the cable through this hole, then fill the hole with marine-
grade silicone sealant and proceed to the next step immediately.
3. Place the escutcheon plate over the cable hole and use it as a guide to mark the two
escutcheon plate mounting holes. Remove the plate, drill two 9/64" diameter x 5/8" deep
holes, and then fill both holes with marine-grade silicone sealant. Place
the escutcheon plate over the cable hole and attach with two #8 x 5/8" wood screws.
Hand-tight n only!
4. Route and secure the cable by attaching the cable clamp to the transom. Drill one 9/64"
diameter x 5/8" deep hole, then fill hole with marine-grade silicone sealant, then attach
the cable clamp using a #8 x 5/8" screw. Hand-tight n only!
