The Technical Manual for the Husqvarna Automower®305, 308 and GARDENA R40Li, R70Li is a supplement to
the Operator’s Manual. The Manual contains in-depth information about the robotic lawnmower and its peripheral
equipment.
The Technical Manual is intended for dealers, service personnel, etc.
Most of the illustrations in the Technical Manual show the Automower®305. Instructions that apply to both
Automower®305 and GARDENA R40Li are illustrated with the Automower®305. Where there is a reason to
illustrate the other models this has been done.
In some chapters, Husqvarna Automower®305, 308 and Gardena R40Li, R70Li are compared with Husqvarna
G2 models. The G2 models include Husqvarna Automower®210C, 220AC, 230 ACX, Solar Hybrid, 260ACX and
265 ACX.
Under no circumstances may the original design of the robotic lawnmower be modied
without the expressed permission of the manufacturer.
Unauthorized modications and/or components can result in serious disruptions and the
risk of personal injuries.
Only use original spare parts.

1.3 Introduction
This Technical Manual contains important information
about the Husqvarna Automower®305, 308 and
GARDENA R40Li, R70Li robotic lawnmowers and
their function, how to install them and a number of
installation examples. It also contains information about
special menu functions which are available with the
mower, the Autocheck EXP service program, repair
instructions and troubleshooting.
To make it easier to follow, the following structure is
used:
• Text that is written in italics is a text that is shown in
the mower’s display or in menus in the Autocheck
EXP service program. A reference to another
section of the technical manual is also shown in
italics.
• Words that are written in bold represent one of
the keys on the mower’s keypad or a key in the
Autocheck EXP service program.
• Words that are written in UPPER-CASE in italics
are the main switch’s position and the different
operating modes that are available with the mower.
A number series, which can be used as a shortcut to
quickly reach a specic menu function, is outlined in
brackets in the headings in question.

1.6 Software
The behaviour of the robotic lawnmower is controlled
by microprocessors and software. There is an MSW
program (Main SoftWare), an MMI program (Man
Machine Interface) and a SSW program (Subsystem
SoftWare).
The main program (MSW) interprets the signals from
the sensors and controls the operation accordingly.
The MMI program checks the presentation of informa-
tion in the display and the inputting of, for example, key
strokes on the keypad. The MMI program contains the
texts that are shown in the display.
The SSW program controls the blade motor, among
other functions.
This Technical Manual covers versions 3.02.00 of the
main program and 3.00.00 of the MMI program.
1.6.1 Ascertaining the program version
1. Set the main switch to position 1.
2. When the start page is displayed: Keep the
button 0pressed in for two seconds to go to
Quick Check.
3. Select Info and press OK.
4. Select General and press OK.
5. The main program’s version is indicated on the
line that starts MSW ver:, e.g. 3.02.00.
The MMI program’s version is indicated on the
line that starts MMI ver:, e.g. 3.00.00.
The SSW program’s version is indicated on the
line that starts SSW ver:, e.g. 2.00.00.
6. Keep the Arrow back button pressed in for two
seconds to leave Quick Check and go to the
main menu.
It is important that the robotic lawnmower is
programmed with the latest software versions.
The Husqvarna Group is continuously
improving the mower’s behaviour and
performance, which results in new software
versions.
