The term “power tool” in the WARNING refers to your AC power (corded) power
tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

WORK AREA SAFETY
1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks
which may ignite the dust or fumes.
3. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any
way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodied plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
2. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
3. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a
power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
4. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplug-
ging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving
parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
5. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord
suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the
risk of electric shock.
6. USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD: Make sure your extension cord is in
good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy
enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will
cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. Table
1 shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate
ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gage. The smaller the gage
number, the heavier the cord.
7. If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a
ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protected supply. Use of a GFCI
reduces the risk of electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY
1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or
under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention
while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
2. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or
hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal
injuries.
3. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the o-position
before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or
carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or
energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
4. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool
on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may
result in personal injury.
5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long
hair can be caught in moving parts.
7. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use
of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
1. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your applica-
tion. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was designed.
2. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and o. Any
power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
3. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from
the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or

storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
4. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate
the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
5. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may aect the power
tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
6. Keep power tool clean. Properly maintained tools with moving parts are
less likely to bind and are easier to control.
7. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with
these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the
work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations dierent from
those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
SERVICE
1. Have your power tool serviced by a qualied repair person using only
identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power
tool is maintained.
2. When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement part. Follow
instructions in the maintenance section of the manual. Use of unauthorized
parts or failure to follow. Maintenance instructions may create a risk of
electric shock or injury.
WARNING: Changes or modication to this unit not expressly approved
by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority
to operate the equipment.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
WARNING: Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when
performing an operation where the fastener may contact hidden wiring.
Fasteners contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the
power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
1. Exposure to loud noise can cause hearing damage. Always wear ear
protection when using power equipment.
WARNING: Always use safety glasses. Everyday eye glasses are NOT safety
glasses.
2. Use face or dust mask if operation is dusty.

particularly if you’re working on a ladder or scaold, high o the
ground. If tools with large battery packs can stand upright, but they’re easily
tipped over, which could cause result in an injury.
4. Power tools exert extreme force - be sure the item you’re working on
is rmly secured with clamps or other reliable means. Do not try to hold
them by hand or against your body – you might lose control and be injured.
5. Keep hair, clothing or gloves away from air vents, as they may become
entangled in the moving mechanism around these areas.
6. Hold the tool rmly with both hands. Use the auxiliary handle if
available; if there no auxiliary handle, grip the handle at the bottom. Losing
control of the device can result in personal injury.
7. Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Don’t operate any
tool when you are tired.

OPERATION
Workpiece and work area set up:
1. Designate a work area that is clean and well lit. The work area must not
allow access by children or pets to prevent distraction and injury.
2. Secure loose workpieces using a vise or clamps (not included) to
prevent movement while working.

3. There must not be objects, such as utility lines, nearby that will
present a hazard while working.
INSTALLING SANDPAPER
WARNING: Unplug the sander before replacing sandpaper.
NOTE: The sander comes complete with a
clip style mounting system.
1. Use the sandpaper punch tool (included)
to make holes in your sandpaper that
perfectly match the sanding pad.
2. Push the right side / back spring clip lever
in toward the side of the tool to release it
and swing it down, opening the paper jaw at
the back.
3. Insert one end of the paper into the rear
spring-clip jaw, grit side down and toward the back.
4. Close the spring-clip jaw by swinging the
lever forward and hooking it in place
behind the tab on the right side of the tool.
5. Wrap the paper around the pad at the
bottom of the tool.
6. Release the left side/front spring clip and
open that clamp jaw.
7. Insert the front end of the paper into the
front clamp as far as
possible, drawing
the paper as tightly
as possible across
the bottom pad.
8. Close the front
spring-clip jaw by
swinging the lever
back and hooking it
in place behind the
tab on the left side of
the tool.
9. If the sandpaper
loosens during use,
loosen the clips and
re-insert the paper.

OPERATION
1. Identify the item you wish to sand or polish and choose the proper grit
sandpaper or abrasive pad best suited for the job. If preparing wood for
painting or removing paint, use a course grit sanding sheet. Use a ne grit for
nishing work.
2. Secure the item to be sanded. Make sure that the sanding sheet is rmly
xed to the sander.
3. With the sander not in contact with the work piece, press the switch to the
“ON” position.
4. Carefully place the palm sander onto the work piece and begin sanding.
WARNING: Do not sand any area too heavily or for more than a few
seconds at a time. Apply even pressure in a random pattern over the entire
surface.
5. To sand down proles and grooves, use the point or edge of the sander
base.
6. Every few minutes, check the condition and wear of the sanding sheet.
Replace if necessary.
7. When you are done sanding the desired area, remove the sander from the
work surface before turning the sander OFF.
WARNING: Do not use torn or severely worn sandpaper. You may
damage your work surface or suer physical injury
SANDING
Use an appropriate grade of sandpaper. Too coarse a grade will not make the
surface smoother while too ne a grade will remove scratches too slowly, or
not at all. Continue using suitable grades of sandpaper until you obtain the
desired nish.
WARNING: Considering that old paint may well be toxic and will have to
be treated with the respect due any toxic material both on the part of
the tool operator and environment. Wear appropriate breathing
protection and dispose carefully of dust or chips left after sanding.
CONTROL THE DUST IN THE WORKPLACE
For dust collection to work, the dust extraction holes must be aligned
properly between the sanding sheets and sanding pad. Using the dust
extraction feature of the sander also helps prevent the sandpaper from
loading quickly with sawdust.

You can use the dust bag that comes with the unit,
or you can connect directly to a vacuum hose using
adapter (included).

TROUBLESHOOTING
MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the vents clear of dust and debris. This will help prevent possible
electrical shorts and ensure proper cooling.
2. Keep the tool housing clean, free of oil and grease by using mild soap and
a damp (not wet) cloth.
3. Inspect the cord regularly and have it replaced by an authorized repair
facility if it is damaged.
4. Lubrication for this tool is done at the factory and should not be necessary
again under normal use.
5. Do not allow liquids to get inside the sander. Never immerse the sander in
liquid.

repairs or adjustments (other than those mentioned in this manual) should
be performed by authorized repair centers using identical replacement parts.
