To locate talk-groups or channels o the Statewide I teroperability Template-Campus Versio (Page 2), follow
these i structio s. For the purpose of this guide, “mode”, “cha el” a d “talk-groups” all mea the same
thi g.

Regio al Talk-groups (Example: Age cies i IEMA Regio 8 would use the talk-group amed “RGN 8B”)
•RGN B = Used for regio al i teroperability for i cide ts, eve ts, a d exercises. No permissio is required. U less
told otherwise this is the talk group you should mo itor.
•RGN A = Used as a extra regio al talk group if the B Side is bei g used. But be sure to use the B Side first.

Belo is the State of Illinois State ide Interoperability Template (Short version for Campus radios). The
I teroperability template is fou d i every STARCOM21 radio i Illi ois. For small capacity radios such as those
issued to u iversities, a smaller template was developed. Zo es BA-BC are ide tical to the full statewide
template.
Notice below that Zo es BA-BC ru across the top of the template. “Zo e__” is the ame of the group of talk-
groups/cha els i that colum . That’s why whe searchi g for a talk-group/cha el; you must first select the
Zo e. O ce the Zo e is selected use the talk-group/cha el k ob to move up or dow vertically i the
template to locate the specific talk-group/cha el you wa t.
Zones BA-BB are statewide talk-groups. Whe talki g o these, you tra smit statewide o the STARCOM21
platform. They are used for wide area operatio s a d ge erally assig ed by a Commu icatio s U it Leader
(COML). The “RGN” or regio al talk-groups eed o permissio a d are used for a local emerge cy, trai i g, a d
exercises. Whe usi g the regio al talk-groups start with the RGN_B first. If additio al talk-groups are eeded use
RGN_A.
Zone BC has tactical cha els a d either direct talk i dicated by a “D” or repeater cha el, o “D”. No e are
statewide. Repeater cha els require a portable or fixed repeater statio . They also eed o permissio for
local emerge cies, trai i g a d exercises. Duri g Type 3 eve ts a COML will assig these cha els as eeded.
IESMA talk-group located i Zo e BA is mo itored 24/7 by IEMA Commu icatio Ce ter for emerge cies o ly.
They may mo itor other talk-groups as well.
