Obtaining Documents
Contact your Customer Service representative to request a document.
Unpacking/Shipping Information
This product was carefully inspected, tested, and calibrated before shipment to ensure years of stable
and trouble-free operation.
1. Check equipment for any visible damage that may have occurred during transit.
2. Confirm that you have received all items listed on the packing list.
3. Contact your dealer if any item on the packing list is missing.
4. Contact the carrier if any item is damaged.
5. Remove all packaging material from the product and its associated components before you install
the unit.
Keep at least one set of original packaging, in the event that you need to return a product for servicing.
In the unlikely event that your product fails to operate properly, please contact Customer Service to
obtain a Return Authorization (RA) number, then send the unit back for servicing.
If the original package is not available, you can supply your own packaging as long as it meets the
following criteria:

•The packaging must be able to withstand the product’s weight.
•The product must be held rigid within the packaging.
•There must be at least 2 in. (5 cm) of space between the product and the container.
•The corners of the product must be protected.
Ship products back to us for servicing prepaid and, if possible, in the original packaging material. If the
product is still within the warranty period, we will return the product prepaid after servicing.
Safety Standards and Compliances
See the fiber optic section for information about the safe use of fiber optic products. Also see the
Networking and Playout Safety and Regulatory Compliance manual, available on our website.
Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
Directive 2011/65/EU (ROHS2)—commonly known as the European Union (EU) Restriction on Hazardous
Substances (RoHS)—sets limits on the use of certain substances found in electrical and electronic
equipment. The intent of this legislation is to reduce the amount of hazardous chemicals that may leach
out of landfill sites or otherwise contaminate the environment during end-of-life recycling. The Directive
took effect on July 1, 2006, and it refers to the following hazardous substances:
•Lead (Pb)
•Mercury (Hg)
•Cadmium (Cd)
•Hexavalent Chromium (Cr-V1)
•Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
•Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)
According to this EU Directive, all products sold in the European Union are fully RoHS-compliant and
"lead-free." (See our website for more information.) Spare parts supplied for the repair and upgrade of
equipment sold before July 1, 2006 are exempt from the legislation. Equipment that complies with the
EU directive are marked with a RoHS-compliant emblem, as shown.

Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
The European Union (EU) Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE) deals with the collection, treatment, recovery, and recycling of electrical and electronic waste
products. The objective of the WEEE Directive is to assign the responsibility for the disposal of
associated hazardous waste to either the producers or users of these products. Effective August 13,
2005, producers or users are required to recycle electrical and electronic equipment at end of its useful
life, and may not dispose of the equipment in landfills or by using other unapproved methods. (Some EU
member states may have different deadlines.)
In accordance with this EU Directive, companies selling electric or electronic devices in the EU will affix
labels indicating that such products must be properly recycled. (See our website for more information.)
Contact your local sales representative for information on returning these products for recycling.
Equipment that complies with the EU directive is marked with a WEEE-compliant emblem, as shown.

Introduction
Selenio™ Network Processor (SNP) is the industry’s first pure-IP media processing platform supporting
uncompressed UHD over SMPTE ST 2110 specification for transporting media over IP networks. The
high-density, scalable platform enables media companies to seamlessly transition from SDI to all-IP
networks adhering to ST 2022-6 and ST 2110 standards.
Built upon field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, along with dual 100-Gigabit data
connections, the SNP offers flexible capabilities required in today’s complex production environments,
including audio processing, HD/3G/UHD up/down/cross conversion, color space adjustments and High
Dynamic Range (HDR) adaptations and conversions. It provides critical signal synchronization,
supporting different signal types and formats in video production environment, interoperating with
many standard-based equipment and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) IP switchers, providing media
companies with the greatest flexibility to work with a variety of technology suppliers. SNP interoperates
with Imagine’s other UHD- and IP-ready solutions, including the Versio™ cloud-native integrated playout
platform and EPIC™ MV monitoring and control system, for a seamless end-to-end production workflow.

SNP Personalities
SNP features three personalities that can be applied on a processor-by-processor basis. These
personalities are described in the following sections:

Sync Personality
The SNP Sync personality has two sections per processor which are independently selectable to be 4 HD
channels per section or one UHD channel per section. The input can be SDI or IP. If the input is IP, the
output can be SDI and IP concurrently. If the input is SDI, the output can only be IP.

(Dual) Conversion Personality
The video conversion personality includes video format conversion and color processor. Associated
audio and data streams are delayed, processed and synchronized with the output video.

UHD-2SI can be carried via 2SI-SDI, 12G-SDI or IP-2110. HD can be carried via SDI or IP-2110 or IP-2022-
6.
IP Output and SDI Output are available concurrently. If SQD-SDI output is enabled, then IP Output (UHD-
2110) will not be available. Associated audio and data streams are delayed, processed and synchronized
with the output video.
Remap Personality
The Remap personality is similar to the Sync personality but adds the ability to transcode to and from
the SQD format.
SQD is only available on the SDI inputs or outputs.
When in this mode, each processor handles two UHD channels. This mode is not for HD or 3G signals.
Processing includes a Color Processor (color space conversion, dynamic range conversion) and Test
Signal Generator (TSG).

Hardware
SNP is currently available in two flavors: SNP-GW-3GX32 with standard fans and power supplies and
SNP-GW-3GX32-HS-QF, with dual hot swappable power supplies and quiet fans.
Controls are on the front panel, and connections are on the back panel. See the following topics:

Front Panel
The SNP front panel contains controls to configure and manage the device. It is a replaceable
component of the product. See Front Panel Assembly (on page 138) for more information.
The front panel comes in two varieties:
SNP-GW-3GX32 with Standard Fans and Power Supplies
SNP-GW-3GX32-HS-QF with Hot-Swappable Power Supplies
As you can see in the figures above, the SNP-GW-3GX32 has a front panel that is removable as a single
piece, as described in Removing the Front Panel (on page 139). The SNP-GW-3GX32-HS-QF can also be
removed as a single unit following the same instructions, or just the access plate at the right can be
removed to access one of the two (hot-swappable) power supplies while the SNP remains in operation.

Turns off and on the SNP.
Control knob
Scrolls through parameters or options at the selected level.
Enter
Selects or "takes" an option or value in a parameter.
Exit
Exits from one level in the parameter tree to a higher level in the tree.
Default
When browsing the parameter list, this button flashes to indicate that a parameter
is set to the default value. If a parameter is not at the default value, press and hold
the Default button for more than one second to reset the parameter to its default
value.

For future use.
Status
For future use.
Help
When the front panel Menu is navigated to a parameter setting, press to display a
description of the parameter.
Reset
This recessed button is located in a hole below and to the right of the LEDs on the
front panel. It can be pressed using a paper clip.

BNC Ports
BNC ports are divided in groups of four. BNCs are hard-coded so that the first four are assigned to
Processor A Section1, the next four (numbers 5, 6, 7, and 8) are assigned to Processor A Section 2, etc.
Note that the first numbered port in each group is labeled with an inverse square. This port is the 12G
capable port for that group. Ports in each group are numbered in a clockwise fashion. For example, the
left-most port on the chassis is port 2, not port 1.
