SAFETY NOTES & GENERAL SERVICING ADVICE
1. This manual is NOT intended as a comprehensive repair/maintenance guide to the appliance.
2. It should ONLY be used by suitably qualified persons having technical competence applicable
product knowledge and suitable tools and test equipment.
3. Servicing of electrical appliances must be undertaken with the appliance disconnected
(unplugged) from the electrical supply.
4. Servicing must be preceded by Earth Continuity, Earth Resistance and Insulation Resistance
checks.
5. Personal safety precautions must be taken to protect against accidents caused by sharp edges
on metal and plastic parts.
6. After servicing the appliance must be rechecked for Electrical Safety. In the case of appliances
which are connected to a water supply (i.e.: Washing Machines, Dishwashers & Food Centres
etc.) checks must be made for leaks from seals gaskets and pipe work and rectification carried
out where necessary.
7. It can be dangerous to attempt ‘DIY’ repairs / maintenance on complex equipment and the
Company recommends that any problem with the appliance is referred to its own Service
Organisation.
8. Whilst the Company has endeavoured to ensure the accuracy of the data within this publication

INSTALLATION
Unpacking
1. Unpack the washing machine.
2. Check whether the washing machine has
been damaged during transport. If this is the
case, do not install it and contact your
retailer.
3. Remove the three protective screws and
the rubber washer with the respective
spacer, situated on the rear of the appliance
(see figure below).
4. Seal the gaps using the plastic plugs
provided.
5. Keep all the parts as they will be required
again if the washing machine needs to be
moved to another location.
Customer/Installer may remove the
WRONG bolt as both are close together
and not shown in the diagram in the user
instruction book.
The incorrect bolt is indicated below.
This bolt secures the plate in place.
Levelling
1. Install the washing machine on a flat sturdy
floor, without resting it up against walls,
cabinets etc.

compensate for any
unevenness by
tightening or
loosening the
adjustable front feet
(see figure); the
angle of inclination, measured according to
the worktop, must not
exceed 2°.
Levelling your appliance correctly will
provide it with stability and avoid any
vibrations, noise and shifting during
operation. If it is placed on a fitted or loose
carpet, adjust the feet in such a way as to
allow enough room for ventilation beneath
the machine.
Water Connections
1. Insert the seal A into the
end of the inlet hose and
screw the latter onto a
cold water tap with a 3/4"
BSP threaded
connection. See figure.

DRAINAGE CONNECTIONS
A. Connect the drain hose, without bending it,
to a draining duct or a wall drain fixed at a
height between 65 and 100 cm from the
floor.
B. Alternatively, place it over the edge of a
basin, sink or tub, fastening the hose
supplied to the tap.
The free end of the hose should not be
under water.
! We advise against the use of hose
extensions. In case of absolute need, the
extension must have the same diameter as
the original hose and must not exceed
150cm in length.
Electrical Connections
Before plugging the appliance into the
mains socket, make sure that:
- the socket is earthed and in compliance
with the applicable law.
- the socket is able to sustain the
appliance’s maximum power load.
- the supply voltage is included within the
values indicated in the Specifications page.

- the socket is compatible with the washing
machines plug. If this is not the case,
replace the socket or the plug.
Location
! The washing machine should not be
installed in an outdoor environment, not
even when the area is sheltered, because it
may be very dangerous to leave it exposed
to rain and thunderstorms.
! When the washing machine is installed, the
mains socket must be within easy reach.
! Do not use extensions or multiple sockets.
! The power supply cable must never be bent
or dangerously compressed.
! The power supply cable must only be
replaced by an authorised serviceman.
WARNING!
The company denies all liability if and when
these warnings are not respected.
The first wash cycle
Once the appliance has been installed and
before you use it for the first time, run a
wash cycle without detergent and no
laundry, setting the 'B' programme without a
pre-wash cycle.

DETERGENT DISPENSER
Good washing results depend on the correct dose of detergent: adding too much detegent won’t
necessarily make for a more efficient wash and may in fact cause build up on the interior of the
appliance and even pollute the environment.
Open the detergent dispenser and pour in the detergent and
fabric softener, as follows: -
Compartment 1: Detergent for pre-wash (powder);
Compartment 2: Detergent for the wash cycle (powder or
liquid); Liquid detergent should only be poured in immediately
prior to the wash cycle start.
Compartment 3: Additives (fabric softeners, etc.). The fabric
softener should not overflow from the grid.
!Do not use hand wash detergent because it may form too
much foam.
LEDs
The LEDs provide important information. This is what they can tell you: -

During the wash cycle, the LEDs gradually illuminate on to indicate the cycle phase under way:

FUNCTION BUTTONS
The FUNCTION BUTTONS also act like LEDs. When a function is selected, the corresponding
button is illuminated.
If the function selected is incompatible with the programme set, the button will flash and the function
will not be enabled.
If you set a function that is incompatible with another function you selected previously, only the last
one selected will be enabled.
CONTROLS
Console panel spin and model number will vary.
ON-OFF/DOOR LOCKED LED:
If this LED is on, the appliance door is locked to prevent it from being opened accidentally. To avoid
any damages, wait for the LED to flash before you open the appliance door.
!The rapid flashing of the ON-OFF/DOOR LOCKED LEd together with the flashing of at least one
other LED indicated that there is an abnormality.
SETTING THE TEMPERATURE
Turn the VARIABLE TEMPERATURE knob to set the wash temperature (see Programme Table on
page 10). The temperature can be lowered or even set to a cold wash.

FUNCTIONS
To enable a function: -
1. Press the button corresponding to the desired function, according to the table below.
2. The function is enabled when the corresponding button is illuminated.
NOTE: - The rapid flashing of the button indicates that the corresponding function cannot be
selected for the programme set.
NOTE: - To avoid excessive vibrations, before every spin cycle the machine distributes the load in a
uniform manner by continuously rotating the drum at a speed which is slightly faster than the normal
wash speed. When, despite repeated attempts, the load is still not evenly distributed, the machine
spins at a lower speed then the set frequency.
If the load is excessively unbalanced, the machine attempts to distribute it instead of spinning.
The balancing attempts may extend the total duration of the cycle, up to a maximum of 10 minutes.

STARTING & PROGRAMMES
STARTING A PROGRAMME
1. Switch the washing machine on by pressing the ON/OFF button. All the LEDs will light up or a
few seconds and the ON-OFF/DOOR LOCKED LED will begin to flash.
2. Load the laundry into the washing machine and shut the appliance door.
3. Set The WASH PROGRAMME knob to the programme required.
4. Set the wash temperature.
5. Add the detergent and any fabric softener.
6. Start the programme by pressing the START BUTTON. To cancel it, keep the START button
pressed for at least 2 seconds.
7. When the programme is finished, the ON-OFF/DOOR LOCKED LED will flash to indicate that
the appliance door can be opened. Take out the laundry and leave the appliance door ajar to
allow the drum to dry thoroughly. Turn the washing machine off by pressing the ON/OFF button.

For the anti-crease function: See Easy Iron. The information contained in the table is purely
indicative.
Special Programme
Delicates (Programme Jfor Synthetics) is designed to wash lightly soiled garments in a short
amount of time. It only lasts 30 minutes and allows savings on both time and energy. By setting this
programme (Jat 30°C), you can wash different fabrics together (except for Woollen and Silk items),
with a maximum load of 3 kg.
We recommend the use of liquid detergent.

ADDITIONAL ERROR CODE DETAILS
F01: Motor Triac short circuit
Check continuity of motor (field coil pins 3-5, split field pins 3-4 and armature pins 1-2).
Check efficiency of module connector block J9, motor terminal block, and wiring between motor
and edge connector J9.
If all above are correct change module or eeprom as required.
For motor resistance readings see machine specifications page.
F02: Motor jammed or tacho short or open circuit
Check motor is not seized and check edge connector J9 on module.
Check Tacho continuity = 177 ohms from motor block.
Remove edge connector J9 on module check wiring and contacts at positions 1 and 2 on
connector J9.
If all above are correct change module, eeprom or motor as required.
F03: Heater thermistor open or short circuit, heater relay stuck
Check edge connector J8 has secure connections on module.
Check thermistor and wiring.
Remove edge connector J8 from module check wiring and contacts at positions 11 and 12 on
connector J8.
Remove plug from the thermistor. The resistance at room temperature (20°C) is approximately
20K ohms - for other temperatures see chart on previous page.
If all above are correct change module or eeprom as required.
F04: Pressure switch stuck on empty
Machine continually fills until it reaches overfill safety level (half way up door glass).
Drain pump is then started by overflow contacts in pressure switch.
Check efficiency of edge connector J3 on module.
Check efficiency of pressure switch connection.
Check pressure chamber / tube is not blocked with sludge.
Check wiring between pressure switch and edge connector J3 on module.
If all above OK replace pressure switch, module or eeprom as required.
F05: Machine will not empty or pressure switch stuck in full position
Check pump is not jammed or faulty (165 ohms approximately).
Check the pressure chamber/tube is not blocked with sludge.
Check efficiency on edge connector J9 on module and wiring to pump.
Replace module, pressure switch or eeprom as required if all above are OK.
F07: Heater relay stuck or element open circuit
This fault is only signalled when pressure switch is in empty position.
Check the efficiency of edge connector J3 on module.
Check wiring to heater and continuity of element (30 ohms approximately).
Check the efficiency of pressure switch connections and correct operation of pressure switch,
and the pressure chamber is not blocked with sludge.
Remove edge connector J3 and check wiring and contacts at positions 2, 3 and 4 on J3.
If all above OK replace pressure switch, module or eeprom as required.

F08: Heater relay stuck on or pressure switch stuck on full
Check wiring to heater and continuity of element (31 ohms approximately).
Check operation of pressure switch (water levels normal etc.), and efficiency of pressure switch
wiring and connections.
Check pressure chamber is not blocked with sludge.
Check efficiency of module edge connector J3 and associated wiring.
Remove edge connector J3 and check wiring and contacts at positions 2, 3 and 4.
If all above are OK, replace module, eeprom or pressure switch as required.
F09: Machine set up error
Check if module has a soldered eeprom replace module and eeprom
Check if module has a plug-in eeprom, check eeprom is correctly connected to socket on
module.
If all above are OK replace module or eeprom as required.
F10: No full or empty signal from pressure switch
If machine will allow you to. Check water levels are correct.
Check efficiency of module edge connector J3.
Remove module edge connector J3 check wiring and contacts at positions 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Check efficiency of wiring and connection plug on pressure switch.
If all the above are OK replace pressure switch, module or wiring as required.
F11: Drain pump disconnected
Check that the pump connection plug is connected to pump securely.
Test continuity of pump windings (165 ohms).
Check efficiency of module edge connectors J9.
Remove module edge connector J9 and check wiring and contacts at positions 8 and 9.
If all above are OK replace module or eeprom as required.
F12: No communication between Console Board and Power Module
Check efficiency of edge connector J11 and edge connector on control panel.
Remove module edge connector J11 and check wiring and contacts.
Remove edge connector on control board check wiring and contacts.
If all above OK replace control board, power module or eeprom as required.
F13: High Temperature Rise in Drying
Reduced air flow through dryer heater assembly
Check operation of fan motor
Check dryer filter for blockage
F14: No Heat in Drying
Check one shot thermostat
Check heater, valve and fan motor module connections, edge connector J10
F15: No Drying
Possible dryer relay open circuit

Check door closed and efficiency of door catch.

EEPROMS
There are two versions of Eeprom EVO1 and EVO2 and they are not interchangeable.
They match the version of software fitted on production to an appliance.
Before programming a blank Eeprom via E-mit identify the correct Eeprom before fitting to the
Power Board.
(Note: All Display Eeproms are EVO 1 and cannot be programmed via Emit.)
There are two types of EVO1 Eeprom. The original one manufactured by Fairchild, is no longer in
production. Eeproms manufactured by ST are used on current production and for spare part
requirements.
Both types have the above numbers stamped on them to identify and must not be fitted to EVO2
machines.
EVO2 Eeproms are manufactured by ST. These also have a unique identification number as shown.
These Eeproms must not be fitted to EVO1 machines.

EEPROMS & DIAGNOSTICS
Three variations of Eeprom can be found or used on Power Boards:
1. Production Power Boards have a soldered Eeprom and is not replaceable.
2. Service Power Boards have a socket and the Eeprom is a separate part.
3. Blank Eeproms.
All types can be programmed or re-programmed via Emit, using a USB lead, Hardware Key and the

also require an Adapter fitted between the Hardware Key and the Power Board.

DIAGNOSTICS
Two versions of a diagnostic programme are available to use after an Eeprom has been replaced or
programmed and for general fault finding. Connection to the appliance is the same as for Eeprom
Writer.
1. Washing Machine Doctor 1 for Evo 1 based appliances.
2. Washing Machine Doctor 2 for Evo 2 based appliances.
Information can be found in Service Manuals 5407180 (C00221229) and 5407182 (C00221231)
respectively.
Note: This version of the Hardware Key, Eeprom Writer and Washing Machine Doctor
programmes are only available to Indesit Company Engineers.
Pre-programmed Eeproms and Service socket boards are available for repairs and Spare

DISMANTLING INSTRUCTIONS
Safety Notes:
Ensure that the appliance is disconnected from the Electricity Supply before
commencing any work.
Beware of sharp edges on metal or plastic parts - wear safety gloves.
Refer to the Safety Notes at the beginning of this publication.
A. Top Cover
1. Remove the 2 screws securing the top panel.
2. Lift clear.
B. Back Panel
1. Remove the 6 screws securing the panel.
2. Lift the panel clear.
C. Control Panel
1. Remove the top cover (A).
2. Open the dispenser drawer fully, gently lift slightly on the right hand side, grip draw front and pull
to remove dispenser.
3. Remove the dispenser front hinge pin and lift clear.
4. Remove the wash programme selector knob and variable temperature knob by pulling away from
the control panel.
5. Release the two screws, one each end on top corner of the control panel and two screws on upper
edge of dispenser drawer area.
6. Release the 2 clips holding the control panel to the cabinet, gently ease the control panel upwards
to disengage the lugs from the front panel.
7. Disconnect the wiring and lift clear.
Note: - When refitting, ensure the control panel is screwed and secured into the dispenser body.
This is easier to check with the dispenser draw removed.
D. Control Card & Selectors
1. Remove the top cover (A).
2. Release the wiring block from the back of the card.
3. Remove 4 crosshead screws fixing the PCB to the control panel and lift away.
4. Remove the programme and variable temperature knobs using switch removal tool (Part Number
5600126), disconnect the wiring and lift clear.
E. Top Counterweight
1. Remove the top cover (A).
2. Remove the tank / drum assembly (O).
3. Remove the 4 screws securing the cabinet support bar.
4. Remove 3 x 10 mm bolts securing the weight to the outer drum and lift clear.

F. Detergent Drawer
1. Open the dispenser drawer fully, gently lift slightly on the right hand
side, grip draw front and pull to remove dispenser.
G. Dispenser Hopper
1. Remove the top cover (A).
2. Remove the drawer (F).
3. Remove the 2 screws securing the dispenser to the control panel.
4. Remove the valve support screw and valve wiring.
5. Unhook the dispenser outlet hose from the dispenser.
6. Remove the valve support plate screws from back panel
7. Lift the dispenser hopper clear
H. Valve Assembly
1. Remove the top cover (A).
2. Remove the dispenser hopper (G).
3. Remove the screws securing the valve to the dispenser.
4. Remove the valve ensuring the seals are replaced in the hopper.
I. Door Seal Retainer to Outer Case
1. The door seal is fixed to the cabinet front panel by a wire clamp and a small spring.
2. The spring is usually at the bottom of the door.
3. Carefully attach a small screwdriver to one of the ears of the spring, by stretching the spring the
wire can be removed.
J. Door Seal
1. Remove the washing machine top cover (A).
2. Remove the outer wire clamp attaching the seal to the cabinet.
3. Release the door seal from the cabinet.
4. Remove the door seal from the tank front. The seal is fixed to the tank front by a sprung ring.
K. Door
1. Open the door.
2. Unscrew the 4 x 8 mm bolts securing the door to the cabinet front.
3. Support the door whilst removing the securing bolts.
L. Door Interlock Assembly
1. Remove the top cover (A).
2. Remove the 2 x T15 torx screws, release the wiring in the cabinet clip and disconnect the wiring
from the interlock.
