Introduction
With InFocus Wireless DisplayLink and a DisplayLink-enabled projector, you can project
wirelessly from your Windows computer.
InFocus Wireless DisplayLink consists of a Computer Adapter that plugs into your PC, a
Projector Adapter that plugs into your Display-Link enabled projector, and the software you need
to use these adapters.
Wireless Range
The maximum distance between the Computer Adapter and Projector Adapter is 30 feet / 10
meters. However, depending on conditions at your location, the adapters may need to be closer
together for maximum performance and reliability.
System Requirements
Windows Vista SP1 or Windows XP SP2 (32-bit).
1.2GHz CPU and 512MB memory*, USB 2.0
* 1.8GHz CPU and 1GB memory recommended for best performance.

Other Adapter Details
The connector on both adapters can swivel 180 degrees to make it easier to position the
adapter. Don‘t try to force the rotation any further.
The Computer Adapter includes a slide-out flash drive labeled INSTALL which contains
setup software. See Software Installation and First Time Use below for more information.
The Projector Adapter includes a pre-attached USB A to mini-B converter* to allow it to
connect to the projector‘s DisplayLink port. Keep this converter connected to the adapter.
The Projector Adapter has a small recessed switch on its side*. For correct operation, this
switch must stay pushed towards the USB connector end of the adapter.
* Converter should only be removed, and switch position should only be changed, while updating adapter firmware.
Any applicable firmware updates and instructions can be downloaded from www.infocus.com/support/displaylink
Do you have more than one pair? Adapters are sold as matching pairs which can only
communicate with each other. To avoid mix-ups, use the included blank labels to identify
which adapters go together.

What’s the difference between Wireless DisplayLink and
DisplayLink Manager Software?
They work together to allow you to project wirelessly:
InFocus Wireless DisplayLink creates and manages the wireless connection between your
projector and computer. The setup software for Wireless DisplayLink is included on the flash
drive that slides out of the Computer Adapter (labeled INSTALL).
InFocus DisplayLink Manager Software sends your computer‘s display to the projector
over a wired (USB cable) or wireless DisplayLink connection. The setup software for
DisplayLink Manager is built into DisplayLink-enabled projectors.
Note: The above software (and related instructions) can also be downloaded from
www.infocus.com/support/displaylink

Software Installation and First Time Use
This section describes how to install the required software and how to start projecting wirelessly.
1. Plug the Flash Drive into your Computer
The Computer Adapter includes a retractable USB flash drive (labeled INSTALL) which
contains the required software. Extend this flash drive and plug it into a USB port on your
computer:
Skip to Step 5 below if you’re not installing from the flash drive.
If you‘re installing software you downloaded, then when you open the downloaded file, start
at step 5 below.
DON’T PLUG IN THE COMPUTER ADAPTER YET!
Follow the steps below –don‘t plug in the computer adapter until you are asked to do so.

8
2. Start Setup
A window will open showing choices. Select Start Setup, then click OK.
3. Install the Software
In the Setup window, click Install InFocus Wireless DisplayLink Software:
If you don’t see the above window after you plug in the flash drive…
If you see any messages from Windows asking if software should run, you must allow
the software to run to be able to install.
If instead of the above window, a folder opens containing files, open the
InFocusAutoRun program in that folder (then go to step 3 below).
Click Start, then click My Computer (or open the My Computer shortcut). If you see an
item named InFocus Wireless DisplayLink, open it. Then in that folder, open the
InFocusAutoRun program (then go to step 3 below).
If you don‘t see the InFocus Wireless DisplayLink item in the My Computer folder,
you may have plugged in the flash drive in the wrong way around. Unplug the flash
drive, turn it over, and plug it in again.

9
4. Select the Install Method
There are two ways to install:
Option 1: Install now from this flash drive
If you choose this option, install will start immediately. Use this option if you don‘t have an
Internet connection.
Option 2: Download the latest version from the InFocus web site
If you choose this option, you will be taken to the InFocus web site where you can download
InFocus Wireless DisplayLink software (which may be more up-to-date than the version on the
flash drive). After you finish the download, open the file you downloaded to start the installation.
5. Review the License Agreement
Read the license agreement. You must accept the agreement and click Next > to continue install.

10
6. Choose your Location
Choose your geographic location to comply with your local radio regulations (if needed, you can
change this later, after install has finished –see Advanced Settings below).
7. Install in Progress
Follow the on-screen instructions to continue with installation. Click Next > when prompted to
move through each installation step.

11
8. Install Completed
When setup is done, you‘ll see a screen titled Setup Complete:
You‘ll also see a new gray Wireless DisplayLink icon in the taskbar (near the clock):
Click Finish to exit install.
Note: If the setup window is still open, click Return to Main Menu (if you see it), then
click Exit.
Note: If you were installing from the flash drive, disconnect and retract the flash drive now
(see the instructions in the screen above).

12
9. Plug the Computer Adapter into your Computer
Plug the Computer Adapter‘s swivel connector into a USB port on your computer. If needed,
Windows will automatically install the drivers for the adapter:
Windows Vista
Windows XP

Install in progress:
Install finished:
When driver installation is finished, the Wireless DisplayLink taskbar icon will turn red to show that the
Computer Adapter (Host) is ready to connect to the Projector Adapter:
Note: If the icon doesn‘t turn red, see Troubleshooting for possible solutions.

13
10. Plug the Projector Adapter into your Projector
Make sure your projector is plugged into AC power, then turn it on.
Plug the Projector Adapter into your projector‘s DisplayLink connector (on some projectors this
connector is labeled Computer 1 DisplayLink).
The projector status indicator should light up (if it doesn‘t, make sure the projector is connected
to a live electrical outlet).
Wait for the Wireless DisplayLink taskbar icon to turn green which shows that the projector and
Computer Adapters are wirelessly connected:
Note: If the icon doesn‘t turn green, see Troubleshooting for possible solutions.
Note: The first time you connect your computer to the Projector Adapter, Windows may
automatically install more drivers, see step 9 above for example screens. After drivers are
installed, additional software installation may start, see step 11 below.
Note: If the Projector Adapter is already plugged into the projector, you can leave it
plugged in.

14
11. Install DisplayLink Manager Software (if Needed)
Congratulations!
Your projector and computer are now wirelessly connected.
What happens the first time there is a wireless connection?
It depends on whether or not InFocus DisplayLink Manager software was already installed on your
computer (if you previously used DisplayLink with a USB cable, then DisplayLink Manager software is
already installed).
If DisplayLink Manager software was already installed on your computer:
Your computer is ready to project wirelessly. Whenever the Computer Adapter and Projector
Adapter are wirelessly connected, DisplayLink Manager software will work the same as it did before
–except now you don‘t need a USB cable.
If DisplayLink Manager software was not already installed on your computer:
DisplayLink Manager software installation will start automatically. When installation is
finished, your computer will be ready to project wirelessly. Follow the on-screen instructions to
install. After DisplayLink Manager has been installed, then whenever your projector is wirelessly
connected to your computer, your computer‘s screen will be projected, and the DisplayLink Manager
taskbar icon will be visible near the clock:
Right-click this icon for DisplayLink controls and options (for detailed instructions, see the
DisplayLink User‘s Guide – download it at www.infocus.com/support/displaylink).
What’s Next?
See Regular Use below for details on how to disconnect (and re-connect) the adapters, and how
to share a projector between multiple computers. See InFocus Wireless DisplayLink Control
Panel below for detailed information about using the Wireless DisplayLink control panel
software.
Note: If DisplayLink Manager software installation doesn‘t automatically start (and it‘s not already
installed on your computer), see the DisplayLink User‘s Guide for instructions, or download it and
DisplayLink software at: www.infocus.com/support/displaylink

15
Regular Use
This section explains how to use the Computer Adapter and Projector Adapter after you have completed
first-time installation.
How to Disconnect (End the Wireless Connection)
To end the wireless connection at any time, unplug the Computer Adapter from your computer.
(you can also unplug the Projector Adapter from the projector, but it‘s not required).
Unplug the Computer Adapter
After the Computer Adapter is unplugged, the Wireless DisplayLink taskbar icon (near the
clock) will turn gray:

16
How to Re-Connect (Restore the Wireless Connection)
Whenever you would like to project wirelessly, plug the Computer Adapter into your computer,
and then plug the Projector Adapter into the projector (if it wasn‘t already plugged into the
projector):
First, plug in the Computer Adapter:
Then, plug in the Projector Adapter (if needed):
When the Computer Adapter is detected, the Wireless DisplayLink taskbar icon should turn red,
and then when the Projector Adapter is detected, the icon should turn green:
Note: If the icon won‘t turn green, see Troubleshooting for possible solutions.

17
Sharing a Projector
You can easily share a single projector between several computers, using a single pair of
adapters. Follow these steps:
1. Plug the Projector Adapter into the projector you want to share. For convenience, you can
leave this adapter plugged into that projector at all times.
2. For each computer that will be sharing this projector, follow all the steps in Installation and
First Time Use above, using the same Computer Adapter each time (if you have more than
one pair of adapters, make sure it‘s the Computer Adapter that matches the above Projector
Adapter –adapters are sold as matching pairs that can only communicate with each other).
Tip: To save meeting time, you can do this ahead of time, before anyone actually needs to
use the projector.
3. When you‘re in a meeting where you need to share the projector, just pass around the same
Computer Adapter –plug it into present, then unplug it and pass it on to the next person
when you‘re done presenting.
Using the Wireless Connection for Presentation Control and
Mouse Functions
When your projector and computer are wirelessly connected, you can press and on your
projector‘s remote control to move through your presentation slides (see your projector‘s
instructions for details –a USB cable connection is not required). The wireless DisplayLink
connection also supports mouse functions available on some InFocus accessory remote controls
–purchase accessories at www.infocus.com/store or from your InFocus dealer.
If You Have More than One Pair of Adapters
Adapters are sold as matching pairs which can only communicate with each other. To avoid mix-
ups, use the included blank labels to identify which adapters go together.
Note: If you lose or damage your Computer Adapter or Projector Adapter, you must
replace both adapters.
Note: The above instructions only apply to sharing a single projector. To share multiple
projectors with one or more computers, you need a separate pair of adapters for each
projector (to switch projectors, just plug a different Computer Adapter into your computer).
