CARE &
INSTALLATION
Please, look after your
furniture!
All furniture made by Ingrain Designs We use only
the highest quality of furniture grade timbers.
Combining traditional craftsmanship and modern
technology, we aim to make furniture that will last a
lifetime when used as intended.
Proper handling and care for each product is
essential to guarantee longevity, no product should
ever be dragged or stood on.
Natural environmental factors will affect the
condition of furniture which can lead to cupping,
timber splitting, shrinkage, expansion and timber
finish discolouration. If this occurs, please refer to
our your warranty.
Caring for timber furniture.
At Ingrain Designs, we design and build products to
last, and with appropriate care each piece will stand
the test of time. We always recommend that our
furniture only ever be used for its intended purpose.
When assembling and disassembling furniture
always follow the instructions provided by Ingrain
Designs. If ever moving furniture, please do so with
assistance and using appropriate lifting techniques.
Please never drag or push furniture, and we do not
recommend ever standing on our furniture.
To avoid natural environmental damage to occur
including discolouration of timber finish we always
recommend keeping furniture out of direct sunlight
for long periods of time. If this is unavoidable, refer
to the maintenance kit provided with your product
Oil & wax finish.
We use OSMO PolyX on all our products – a natural
oil and wax that is hard-wearing for high traffic
areas. It is available in a natural satin finish or a raw
satin finish. It is derived from natural oils and waxes
and has been manufactured by specialists in this
area for over 100 years. The oil protects the timber
by penetrating deep within the open pores and the
wax creates an elastic, microporous surface which
acts as another protective barrier from moisture and
abrasion.
Although naturally resistant to spills and liquids,
it is recommended not to place hot cups or bowls
directly onto the timber and to ensure spills and
liquids are cleaned immediately by wiping down
with a damp cloth.
It is also recommended to not leave the product in
direct sunlight as over time this may alter the colour
of the finish. Regularly wipe down the surface with
a dry cloth to remove any dust or dirt particles. If
stains or finish fading does occur and removal is
desired, we suggest you get in touch with the team
at Ingrain Designs to re-finish the surface or gain
assistance in doing so.

Installation.
1. Carefully remove cabinet drawer(s) and/or
door(s) and cover runners before installation to
avoid damage. If top has not been fixed to vanity
(unit with corian), remove it from vanity.
2. Using a hole saw, drill holes for water supply
pipes, wastes etc.
3. Carefully move cabinet into place. Pack vanity
to required height ensuring vanity top is level from
side to side and front to back. Packers may be
required behind the unit to ensure top is level and to
prevent unit from twisting.
4. Once the vanity is level, fasten it to the wall
using screws, bolts or fixings supplied by Ingrain.
Washers may be needed. It is the installer’s
responsibility to determine what extra fixing
materials are needed. Fixings should be made as
high as possible on the unit, with more emphasis
placed on the top fixings.

5. Detach the chocks (melamine feet) from the
underside of the vanity (if applicable). They are
simply pinned into the carcass and may be removed
with a chisel and pliers.
6. Sweep debris from interior of unit and remove
bubble wrap/plastic from drawer runners (if
applicable). Replace door(s) and/or drawer(s) and
adjust hinges if necessary.
7. If the top was removed in step 1, replace this on
the unit ensuring the front and ends of the top line
up with front and ends of the unit. This may leave
gaps between top and wall. Fix top to vanity with
silicone.
8. The unit must be sealed (along the back edge
of top and down the sides) against the wall with
bathroom quality silicone. The best method of
applying silicone is to cut the appropriate sized tip
at a 65° angle and to evenly run a bead around the
unit ensuring all gaps are filled. Seal around the
cabinet with silicone.
9. Spray soapy water on the silicone joint (between
the wall and top) to stop silicone sticking to wall,
then wipe off excess silicone and soapy water.
10. Pipes can now be connected. The basin must
be siliconed to the vanity to ensure a water tight
seal under it, restricting any water leak under the
basin, into vanity. Basins must be sealed completely
around the join.
Important notes.
1. Ingrain Designs’ vanities are made from
Moisture Resistant (MR) materials but are not
waterproof. Care must be taken to dry spillages or
leakage of water that may gain access to cabinetry.
Accurate sealing of the cabinet and kickboard
(where applicable) is vital for proper maintenance of
the product and ensuring longevity.
2. Wall Hung Vanities: When fixing vanity unit to
wall, use adequate fixings, and washers if needed
around the top fixing positions. This will decrease
pressure applied to the screw head. In situations
where a wall is out of square, the installer may
be required to use packers behind the vanity to
ensure the unit does not become twisted during
installation.
3. Under no circumstances should vanities and/
or tops be tiled into the wall. Ingrain vanities and
basin/tops must be fitted to finished/completed
wall coverings e.g., tile, masonry or other cladding
method deemed acceptable, as per the building
code (of Australia) 2013. The Ingrain Warranty does
not cover any vanity and/or top and/or basin that
has been tiled ‘into’ a wall. i.e., cutting or fixing a
vanity to a wall and tiling around it, and/or tiling
down and/or around the vanity and top/basin.
4. It is the responsibility of the installer to adjust
the door(s) and/or drawer(s) after installation.
5. Vanities must be screwed to walls using
fixings provided as a minimum. Use of silicon and
other glues is strictly prohibited.
6. We recommend Plastec Microtraps with all
vanities.
All products must be opened
and inspected upon delivery, and
Ingrain Designs to be notified of
any manufacturing faults within
24 hours of delivery.
