inspection. If your packing materials are in good condition, please keep them. If you ever need to return
the unit to INKEL PA or an authorized service center, you should use only the original factory packing.

This lightening flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the

be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
This exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence
of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instruction in the literature accompanying the
products.

Safety Instruction
1. Read these instructions.

5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including
amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one
wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third
prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for
replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the
point where they exit from the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus.
When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in
any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the
apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

These symbols on the products, packaging, and/or accompanying documents mean that used electrical

Features
* Speaker line control can easily be achieved by connecting the IRM-816 speaker control terminals to
IPX-8116 Matrix unit.
* Four tone pre-announcement chime, activated by push button chime switch.
* Eight LED bar-graphs on the front panel that indicates instantaneous signal output level of IRM-816.
* Easy to use, highly sensitive condenser type MIC for clear broadcasting.
* Auxiliary signal input for cassette deck player or tuner makes IRM-816 an ideal remote piece of equipment for
broadcasting background music.
Operation
1. Switch on IRM-816 with a power switch.
The power LED will be illuminated.
2. If announcement is to be broadcasted to one of the sixteen loudspeaker zones, press a corresponding channel
switch. The selected channel switch LED will be illuminated.
3. If announcement is to be broadcasted to all sixteen loudspeaker zones, press ALL call switch.
The ALL call switch LED will be illuminated.
4. Press a CHIME switch for pre-announcement chime, if required.
5. You can now use MIC for broadcasting.
6. Adjust the volume to its required level using the relevant MIC, CHIME or AUX control.
7. When announcement is finished, turn off all channel switches (CH1~CH16) and ALL call switch to ensure that normal
broadcasting can take place. The sixteen channel switch LEDs and the ALL call switch LED will be extinguished.

1. MICROPHONE INPUT
This is a jack to input microphone.
Input sensitivity of MIC is -60dB.
2. SPEAKER CONTROL SWITCH AND LED
This switch selects and controls the speaker in the area where you want to announce.
To recognize speaker location in the area, green LED is illuminated.
(Only LED in the area where speaker control switch is pressed is illuminated)
3. OUTPUT LEVEL METER
This level meter indicates the output of this unit and it has wide range of output level from -30dB to +6dB.
4. POWER LED
It indicates power supply condition of this unit and if power is supplied, this LED is illuminated while
if power is blocked, it is out.
(If power switch of No.5 is turned on, this LED is illuminated while if it is turned off, then LED is out.)
5. POWER ON/OFF SWITCH
This switch turns the power of this unit and its power source is DC +24V.
6. CHIME VOLUME
This volume controls CHIME level, if you turn it clockwise, the volume is increased while if
you turn it contrarily, the volume is decreased.
7. AUX VOLUME
This volume controls AUX level, if you turn it clockwise; the volume is increased while if you turn it contrarily, the
volume is decreased.
8. MIC VOLUME
This volume controls MIC level, if you turn it clockwise; the volume is increased while if you turn it contrarily,
the volume is decreased.

9. ALL SWITCH AND LED
If you control 16 speakers at a time, this ALL switch helps to do it easily.
If press ALL switch, LED(AMBER) of this switch is illuminated and also LED(GREEN) of 16 speakers is illuminated.
10. CHIME SWITCH AND LED
Before announcement, you can notice it with pre-announcement (‘do-mi-sol-do’)
Only when chime switch has been pressing, LED (GREEN) is illuminated.
11. TALK SWITCH AND LED
This switch is used when you can use to microphone
Only when you want to announce, press this switch so that unnecessary noise is not occurred.
When the switch is on, LED (GREEN) is illuminated.

1. SPEAKER CONTROL TERMINAL (HOT & COM)
These terminal controls zone speaker.
It is connected to remote 1, remote 2 terminal of MATRIX (our model, IPX-8116) or
EMERGENCY CONBINATION (our model, IEC-8216).
2. LINE OUTPUT TERMINAL
As output signal terminal of this unit, it is connected to remote input jack of EMERGENCY PANEL
(our model, IEP-8251).
3. AUX INPUT TERMINAL
This terminal connects external device, such as cassette desk or CD player.
Input level is -20dB
4. DC +24V INPUT TERMINAL
It is connected to DC +24V output terminal of POWER DISTRIBUTOR (our model, IPD-8329).

Precaution for RACK Installation
●Turn off the power on the right side and connect or install it.
●Avoid moisture and install it on the place where has good ventilation.
●If use other MIC model not offered MIC by ours, use only PHANTOM over than +18V DC.
●Be sure about +, - polarity before connecting DC power.
●Be sure about HOT, COLD, and GND before connecting LINE OUT of this unit.
