Safety information
This guide contains important operating and maintenance
instructions for your safety.
• Do not install the speakers where they may be subjected to
excessive heat, moisture, or dust. Do not install the speakers
where they may be kicked or bumped.
• Before mounting and connecting the wires, make sure that the
negative terminal on the vehicle battery is disconnected. If you
do not disconnect the negative terminal, a short circuit may
cause a fire.
• To prevent a short circuit, never put or leave any metal objects,
such as coins or metal tools, inside the speaker housing.
• Make sure that the terminals for the speakers are connected to
the correct outputs from the music source.
• Never run the wiring on the outside or bottom of the vehicle
where it can be damaged by road hazards or moving vehicle
parts. Use existing wire channels, sills, panels, and molding
strips inside the vehicle to protect the wiring.
• When using the speakers, gradually increase the volume to
avoid damaging the speakers.

• Do not use the speakers beyond nominal power handling
capacity.
• Keep recorded tapes, watches, and credit cards away from the
speakers Magnets inside the speakers can damage these
items.
• If you cannot determine the appropriate mounting location, see
your vehicle dealer.
Warning
Use extreme caution when working near the gas tank, gas
lines, brake lines, hydraulic lines, or electrical wiring.

Installing the speakers
To cut mounting holes:
1Make sure that the negative terminal on the vehicle battery is
disconnected.
2Select a mounting location that has enough depth to
accommodate the speakers.
3Use a included template to mark the cutting area. The template
diameter should be 8.62" × 5.87" inches (219 × 149 mm). Screw
hole diameters should be 5 mm.
4Remove the vehicle panel that must be cut, then cut the hole in the
panel.
NoteInstallation kits are available from your dealer or local stereo
shop to help make your installation easier. These kits also
give your installation a clean, custom appearance. If you
have questions about installations methods, see a
professional auto sound dealer or installer for help.

5If you have to cut steel behind the vehicle panel, reinstall the
vehicle panel, then use the hole in the vehicle panel as a template
for the hole you need to cut in the steel.
6Mark the locations for the speaker mounting screws, then remove
the panel and drill the screw holes.
7Reinstall the panel.
8Inspect the mounting areas for any metal burrs or rough edges.
File any area that may interfere with the mounting of the speaker,
and clean any metal shavings from the mounting location.
9Check the mounting location for areas where water or other liquids
may enter the speaker hole. Treat these areas with a water
sealant.
To mount the speakers:
1Make sure that the negative terminal on the vehicle battery is
disconnected.
2Insert the speaker into the mounting hole to make sure that the
speaker fits correctly in the hole, then remove the speaker.
NoteWhen you wire the speakers, connect the large terminal to
an anode connector in the car wiring harness and the small
terminal to a cathode connector in the car wiring harness.

3Slide the screw clips over the screw holes so the holes in the clips
align with the screws holes in the vehicle panel.
4Insert the speaker into the hole, then align the screw holes in the
speaker with the screw holes in the vehicle panel.
5Insert the screws into the screw holes.
6Gradually tighten the screws. Make sure that you tighten the
screws evenly so you do not warp the speaker frame.
To test the speakers:
1Reconnect the negative terminal on the vehicle battery, then turn
on the vehicle.
2Make sure that the volume on your audio system is turned down,
then turn on your audio system.
3Gradually increase the volume.
To install the speaker grills:
1Place the speaker grill over the speaker so the screws holes in the
grill align with the screw holes in the speaker frame. Make sure
that the grill fits securely against the speaker frame. There should
not be any gaps or holes between the grill and the frame.
2Insert screws into the screws on the grill, then carefully tighten the
screws.

1-year limited warranty
Insignia Products (“Insignia”) warrants to you, the original purchaser of this new
NS-S6900 (“Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original
manufacture of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date
of your purchase of the Product (“Warranty Period”). This Product must be purchased
from an authorized dealer of Insignia brand products and packaged with this warranty
statement. This warranty does not cover refurbished Product. If you notify Insignia
during the Warranty Period of a defect covered by this warranty that requires service,
terms of this warranty apply.
How long does the coverage last?
The Warranty Period lasts for 1 year (365 days) from the date you purchased the
Product. The purchase date is printed on the receipt you received with the Product.
What does this warranty cover?
During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material or workmanship
of the Product is determined to be defective by an authorized Insignia repair center or
store personnel, Insignia will (at its sole option): (1) repair the Product with new or
rebuilt parts; or (2) replace the Product at no charge with new or rebuilt comparable
products or parts. Products and parts replaced under this warranty become the
property of Insignia and are not returned to you. If service of Products or parts are
required after the Warranty Period expires, you must pay all labor and parts charges.
This warranty lasts as long as you own your Insignia Product during the Warranty
Period. Warranty coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer the Product.
How to obtain warranty service?
If you purchased the Product at a retail store location, take your original receipt and the
Product to the store you purchased it from. Make sure that you place the Product in its
original packaging or packaging that provides the same amount of protection as the
original packaging. If you purchased the Product from an online web site, mail your
original receipt and the Product to the address listed on the web site. Make sure that
you put the Product in its original packaging or packaging that provides the same
amount of protection as the original packaging.
Where is the warranty valid?
This warranty is valid only to the original purchaser of the product in the United States
and Canada.
What does the warranty not cover?
This warranty does not cover:
• Customer instruction
• Installation
• Set up adjustments

Informations sur la sécurité
Ce manuel contient d’importantes instructions sur le fonctionnement
et la maintenance pour une meilleure sécurité.
• Ne pas installer les haut-parleurs dans un emplacement où ils
seraient exposés à une chaleur, une humidité ou une
poussière excessives. Ne pas installer les haut-parleurs dans
un emplacement où ils pourraient être soumis à des coups de
pieds ou à des chocs.
• Avant d'installer et de connecter les câbles, vérifier que la
borne négative de la batterie du véhicule est déconnectée. Si
la borne négative n'est pas déconnectée, un incendie peut être
provoqué par un court-circuit.
• Pour éviter un court-circuit, ne jamais introduire d'objets
métalliques, telle que des pièces de monnaie ou des outils
métalliques à l'intérieur de l'enceinte du haut-parleur.
• Vérifier que les bornes des haut-parleurs sont connectées aux
sorties correctes de la source de musique.

• Ne jamais acheminer les câbles à l'extérieur ou en dessous du
véhicule, car ils pourraient être endommagé par les obstacles
sur la route où les parties en mouvement du véhicule. Utiliser
les emplacements prévus pour les câbles, les bas de caisse,
les panneaux et les garnitures moulées à l'intérieur du véhicule
pour protéger le câblage.
• Lors de l'utilisation des haut-parleurs, augmenter le volume
graduellement pour éviter de les endommager.
• Ne pas utiliser les haut-parleurs au-delà de leur puissance
nominale.
• Conserver les cassettes enregistrées, les montres et les cartes
de crédit à l'écart des haut-parleurs, car ils pourraient être
endommagés par les aimants de ces derniers.
• En cas de difficultés pour déterminer l'emplacement approprié
pour l'installation, consulter le concessionnaire automobile.

Installation des haut-parleurs
Pour découper les orifices de montage :
1Vérifier que la borne négative de la batterie du véhicule est
déconnectée.
2Pour le montage, sélectionner un emplacement avec
suffisamment d'espace pour y insérer les haut-parleurs.
3Utiliser le gabarit inclus pour tracer la zone à découper. Le
diamètre du gabarit doit être de 8,62 × 5,87 po (219 × 149 mm).
Le diamètre des orifices pour les vis doit être de 5 mm.
4Retirer le panneau du véhicule dans lequel doit être découpé
l’orifice.
Remarque
Des trousses d'installation sont disponibles auprès du
revendeur ou de magasins d'équipements stéréo pour
faciliter le montage. Ses trousses permettent d'effectuer une
installation de type professionnel. En cas de questions sur
les méthodes d'installation, consulter un revendeur
spécialisé sur le son pour l'auto ou un installateur.

5Si de l'acier doit être découpé à l'arrière du panneau du véhicule,
réinstaller le panneau et utiliser l'orifice comme guide pour la
partie à découper dans l'acier.
6Marquer les emplacements des vis de montage du haut-parleur,
puis retirer le panneau afin de percer les orifices pour les vis.
7Réinstaller le panneau.
8Inspecter les zones de montage afin de détecter les ébarbures ou
bordures rugueuses éventuelles. Limer toute zone qui peut gêner
le montage du haut-parleur et nettoyer les copeaux métalliques
dans l'emplacement de montage.
9Vérifier qu'aucune zone de l'emplacement de montage ne permet
la pénétration d'eau ou d'autres liquides par l'orifice du
haut-parleur. Enduire ces zones d'un produit d'étanchéité.
Pour monter les haut-parleurs :
1Vérifier que la borne négative de la batterie du véhicule est
déconnectée.
2Insérer le haut-parleur dans l'orifice de montage afin de vérifier
qu'il s'adapte correctement, puis retirer le haut-parleur.
Remarque
Lors du câblage de haut-parleur, connecter la borne la plus
large à un circuit d’anode du faisceau de câbles du véhicule
et la borne la plus petite au connecteur cathode.
