INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
INTRODUCTION
The information and procedures described in this manual are intended to assist medical
professionals in the safe and effective use, care, cleaning, and long-term maintenance of
INSURGICAL Battery Charger.
INTENDED USE
The INSURGICAL Battery Charger is intended for use with the INSURGICAL MAXLiFe battery Cat.
# 3002022 only.
WARNINGS
Only trained and experienced medical professionals should use this equipment. Failure
to comply with the INSURGICAL Battery Charger instructions for use (IFU) may result in
patient and/or medical staff injury.
Do not use if damage is apparent.
Use of eye protection is required while operating equipment.
DO NOT modify.
DO NOT use this equipment in the presence of flammable anesthetic and air, or with
oxygen or nitrous oxide.
DO NOT operate the Battery Charger with a damaged power cord or plug.
DO NOT modify the ground of the Battery Charger power cord.
Install the power cord of the Battery Charger directly into wall electrical outlet.
DO NOT disassemble or service the Battery Charger. Return to INSURGICAL for service
or repair. Failure to comply may result in electric shock or fire.
Always disconnect the power cord from the Battery Charger before performing cleaning
to reduce the risk of electric shock.
CAUTIONS:
DO NOT sterilize the Battery Charger.
DO NOT connect multiple Battery Charger units in a series.

FEATURES
Power Connection –connects and disconnects Battery Charger from facility power.
Charging Bay –accepts and charges INSURGICAL batteries (Cat. # 3002022).
INSURGICAL Battery Charger accommodates up to four (4) batteries.
Charging Bay and battery are mechanically protected, preventing incorrect introduction
of battery to charging bay.
Charging Bay Indicator Lights –provide battery status information when illuminated.

System Alert*
* Flashing yellow indicator light signals user that the battery has been charged more than 200 of
its rated 300+ charging cycles. Yellow indicator light will flash 3 times then resume normal
charging.
Overcharge Protection –terminates battery charge at 15.77 VDC.
Short Circuit Protection –prevents charger from commencing when battery has an
electrical short.

SETUP
1. Connect the female end of the power cord to the power connection receptacle on the
Battery Charger.
2. Connect the male end of the power cord to the wall outlet.
BATTERY CHARGING
1) Insert INSURGICAL battery (Cat. # 3002022) into the charging bay.
-Note: Charging bay and battery are mechanically protected, preventing incorrect introduction of
battery to charging bay.
2) Follow warnings, caution, and notes in INSURGICAL Battery Instructions for Use.
3) Charging Bay Indicator Light will indicate battery status.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
INSURGICAL recommends facilities using the Battery Charger employ a regular care regimen that
includes routine cleaning and inspection for damage.
CAUTIONS:
Follow universal cautions and protective apparel when handling and cleaning
contaminated instruments.
DO NOT immerse Battery Charger in liquids.
DO NOT use solvents, lubricants, or other chemicals to clean the Battery Charger unless
otherwise directed.
DO NOT allow water to collect on Battery Charger or its charging bays.
DO NOT sterilize the Battery Charger.
DO NOT clean the charging contacts with abrasives.

CLEANING PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the Battery Charger from the wall outlet.
2. Remove the batteries.
3. Wipe the external surfaces of the Battery Charger and charging bays with a clean lint-
free soft cloth lightly dampened with a non-abrasive hospital disinfectant.
4. Dry immediately with a clean lint-free soft cloth.
5. Clean charging contacts using a cotton swab lightly with isopropyl alcohol. DO NOT
clean the charging contacts with abrasives.
6. Ensure equipment is completely dry before reconnecting to power.
7. Inspect for damage or malfunctioning. Return damaged components to INSURGICAL.
