configure the 2677e, but can be used whenever a firmware update is to be applied or if a
configuration file is to be saved and pushed to this or another unit.) Both methods are
described in the following pages.

Configure the 2677e using Local Setup

process and display the ProEdge Connection Manager.

3. Run the I-O Configuration Utility by clicking on Start | Programs, navigate to the I-O

Configuration Utility’s List of Devices screen.
6. Using the Configuration Utility, you will be able to see what is on the 2677e screen. Follow the
configuration instructions on the previous page using the Local Setup Instructions.
Tips for Optimizing your 2677e
From the Connection Manager screen, Press F2 for Settings options.
1. Selecting the 122-Key Keyboard: Checking the Enable 122-Key Support will enable functions
of the IBM 5250 style122 key Keyboard.
2. Date/Time: Allows you to modify the date and time shown in the lower right corner of the
screen.
3. Display: Allows you to select between a couple of Background screens, Appearance of your
desktop and Display resolution. The default resolution of the 2677e is 640 x 480 which may be
a little difficult to read the text on some screens. Increasing the resolution to 800 x 600 or
1024 x 768 will greatly increase the clarity of the characters.
a. Display Emulation: Screen clarity can be enhanced after setting the display resolution
by starting the session, click on Settings, Attributes, and check the box for Use Bold Font
in Preferences. Make sure you save your settings by clicking on File, Save Session.
(If using Bold Font, a resolution of 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 gives the best results).
4. Network and Dial-Up Connections: The 2677e has Dhcp set as default, but if you would like
to set a static IP Address, select the PCI network connection or make a new connection and
select Specify an IP address and enter the address information.
5. Network Utilities: This is a utility for troubleshooting network issues. Allows you to ping an
address, check the IP address of the 2677e and network statistics.
6. Password: Allows you to password protect the 2677e to prevent users from adding or
changing devices and settings.
7. Regional Settings: Customize will allow you to modify the Number, Currency, Time and Date
format.
8. System: Allows you to Restore Factory Defaults or change the Device Name or Description.
9. USB Storage: Allows you to enable or disable the use of USB Storage Devices.

Note:
When connecting a Printer to the 2677e, you may get an Unidentified USB Device window that
pops up. Since Windows CE does not write to flash, you will not be able to enter a Device Driver,
click on the X to cancel the window.
If you get a printer session error when connecting your printer and host, you may need to restore
factory defaults and reconfigure the display and printer sessions. From the Management
Console, press F2 to get to the Control Panel, select System and Reset the terminal to factory-
default.
IV. Operational Notes:
•
To rotate through the active sessions, press the ALT- ESC key sequence.
•
If the monitor is in power save mode, touch any key like the SPACE BAR to redisplay the
screen.
•
To stop using the 2677e, logoff all sessions. Then you may either power off the monitor or
allow the power saver mode to activate and automatically dim the monitor. The 2677e is
designed not to be powered off.
Note: If you desire to turn the power off on the 2677e, make certain you have signed off all
display and printer sessions, then click File and Exit, or click on the X to properly
disconnect each session from the host. Press the power button and hold for 4 seconds,
power will turn off when the button is released.
•
To reconnect any session that is not currently active, select the Display session on the
Connection Manager and either double click on the session or click on the Connect button
to cause the 2677e to contact the host.
•
If power to the 2677e is turned off and back on without ending a session, TeemTalk will
post a message; ‘The Host has closed the connection’, it will be necessary to vary off, then
vary on the display and printer devices before the Reconnect will reacquire a connection.
To vary off a device on the AS/400, at a command line, enter “wrkdevd [device name]”,
press ENTER. Select the work with status option, vary off, and then vary on the device.
Click on the Reconnect button and the session will go active.
