iServer MicroServer iTHX-W Quick start guide

The following steps describe downloading a new firmware into your iTHX iServer product.
1. If the model of your iServer is iTHX-W, iTHX - or iTHX-2, open the enclosure to
access the PCB board (see Figure 1).

2. You now need to use the provided cable to connect the board to your PC. Connect the
DB-25 side of the cable to the parallel port on your PC. Connect the other end of the
cable, which is a 2x4-header connector to the JTAG socket connector on the board.
ake sure that pin 1 of the header connector (labeled on the cable) is connected to the
correct pin on the socket board (see Figure 2).

3. On your C drive, create a directory called "newport" (C:\newport). You must have this
exact path in order to successfully use this program.
4. Using the Firmware Upgrade Program CD, insert the CD into your CD-RO drive and
look for a ZIP file.
5. Unzip the file into C:\newport. You will have four files extracted in that directory.
6. Double-click on "fc240.exe" file to install a program that will give you access to the
iServer through the connected cable discussed in step 2. This installation can be
completed going through screens 1, 2, and 3 shown below.
7. When you get to "Setup Type" screen, select "Custom" and click "Next".

8. At the "Select Components" screen, select the following items and click "Next".
9. At the "Triscend Default Target" screen, just click "Next" as shown below.
10. Complete the remaining installation steps and choose "Yes" to restart your PC.

11. After your PC is back up, in C:\newport directory, double-click (execute) on link.bat
file. This will execute the file and will generate the following window.
ake sure that the "status" at the bottom of the window indicates that "server is
running". You can leave this window on the screen or you can minimize it and move
to the next step ( O NOT CLOSE THIS WIN OW).
12. Go back to C:\newport directory and double-click (execute) on iload.bat file. This will
execute the file and will generate the following window.
At this time, the installation program starts sending the new firmware called
iserver2000.hex into the iServer’s flash memory. This process takes about two
minutes.

13. The following window shows the completion of firmware upgrade. ake sure not to
interrupt the process until the task is ended and the prompt is back to C:\newport.
14. You can now close the iload window. To close the link window, you need to type quit
at its prompt and then close the window. Remove the cable from the iServer JTAG
connector and place the top cover on the unit.
15. To verify the download of the new firmware, login to your iServer using a WEB
Browser and look for the firmware version on the very first screen.
16. After the firmware upgrade is completed, you need to set the iServer to factory default
using dip switch #2. ove dip switch #2 to “ON” position and reset the power on the
iServer. After the iServer is up, put the dip switch #2 back to the “OFF” position. This
will set the iServer to its factory default settings including its IP address
(128.100.101.254). Please see the product manual for details.
17. If there are more iServer units to upgrade, make sure to connect the JTAG header
according to steps 1 and 2 and then repeat steps 11 through 16.
