March 2012 A. Introduction
IsoTek was formed in England July 2001 with the vision to create high
quality mains power distribution units that moved beyond current
conventions. Through careful market analysis and extensive research
we were able to launch products that moved power distribution
forward to be recognised as an integral part of any audio or home
theatre system. Our products continue to lead the way in power
management systems, our latest EVO3 range galvanises our
commitment to pursue excellence at every level.
We believe all products benefit from their own clean power supply,
therefore we advocated the concept of using (smaller) individual filters
on each component, with these being specifically designed for their
purpose, this dramatically reduces and stops component cross
contamination and dispels the belief that one size fits all. Every single
component used in our designs is extensively tested for quality,
reliability and purpose. Our circuit designs are extensively ‘field’ tested
before coming to market so we can guarantee the widest compatibility
with third party products.
Within the market of premium audio it is vital to offer exceptional
performance and value for money. Products must be made to the
highest of standards, be reliable and attractive. A manufacturer must
offer exceptional service, dealer training, support and undertake the
very best in promotion design and literature. If all these elements are in
place customers should experience excellence at every stage. Our
continual quest is to meet these challenges.
All of our products are professionally designed in England with deep
consideration given to both style, functionality, performance and value
for money. Our European manufacturing facility offers a multi-award
winning hand built product line.

March 2012 B. The product
The IsoTek Genesis completely re-defines the term mains re-
generation. IsoTek believe it to be the first true mains generator. The
mains sine wave is not corrected (as in other devices) but totally and
completely rebuilt, ‘generated’ from new with a T D distortion figure of
less than 0.3%. More over it has two generation engines.
The term re-generation to describe current market solutions
(competition) is somewhat misleading, and would better be described
as repairing distortions in the mains. Re-generation implies new born
which is certainly not what is happening.
The draw back of these so called re-generators is input and output
power factor. For example if the input T D is 1% then they can correct
it to 0.3% and indeed claim this, but this is very rarely the case. It is
often much worse. If the T D rises higher, for example 5%, then they
can only correct it to 1.5% as they are not really re-building a clean
mains sine wave.
Unlike and in total contrast to current products on the market classified
as mains re-generators Genesis rebuilds a completely new mains sine
wave. It is the world’s first true audiophile mains generation system
running in class AB with two 300W generation engines, giving a total
output of 600W of completely new power built from within a extremely
low distortion oscillator. This signal is then amplified by two analogue
class AB amplifiers with high quality output transformers. These have
copper foil between the primary and secondary output, this stops
distortion and noise passing through the unit. Competitor products
have no means to stop the interference of noise or distortions created
by measuring electronics (display) influencing connected electronics.
Every single output of Genesis is totally and independently isolated; no
two outputs are connected together eliminating differential mains noise
created by all connected electronics cross contaminating.

March 2012 B. The product
This sophisticated network harnesses IsoTek’s already class leading
reputation for power conditioning technology.
Genesis outputs a very stable and very precise 230V/50 z mains sine
wave, that is in no way effected by the input quality of the power line.
The output of Genesis is completely independent from the input mains
distortion. The mains can be 10% T D and Genesis will still deliver
less than 0.3%. A high, bigger T D creates bigger DC current, Genesis
totally eliminates all DC distortion so nothing can pass to the output.
Genesis also controls mains voltage, the output voltage will always be
230V +/- 2%. This is an absolute ideal as 'locking' the voltage is not
necessary, maintaining a tight tolerance is arguably better. The
European standard is 230 +/- 10%.
Genesis features 4 high quality outlets at the rear. These are grouped in
pairs, with each pair having a maximum VA loading of 300. The output
sockets are designed for ‘front end’ equipment such as CD Players,
DACs, Pre-amplifiers etc.
Power amplfiers SHOULD NOT BE CONNECTED.
The input is a high quality C20 IEC, IsoTek’s Extreme power cable is
included to power the unit. At the rear is an RCBO this needs to be
engaged prior to turning on the unit at the front.
Each Genesis is totally isolated from microphony by way of the unique
and innovative ISIS frame.
On the front of the unit is a centrally positioned power button and two
selector buttons. These turn on / turn off either of the two power
generating cells.

March 2012 B. The product
Genesis has its own dedicated built in isolation system so it is not
necessary to place it into or onto an audio rack system. owever you
should insure that Genesis is placed in a location which allows sufficient
ventilation for the internal electronics. Ventilation should not be impeded by
covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspapers, table-
cloths, curtains etc. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles
should be placed on the unit.
Other items may be placed on top of the Genesis but only with an additional
isolation platform, this is available to purchase separately. Genesis can also
be stacked in multiple units or stacked on top of Super Titan.
The apparatus must not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no
objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on top.
Should either of these events happen immediately switch off the unit at the
wall socket, wait for at least one minute, unplug all other cables and return it
to your authorised IsoTek dealer for a full service.

March 2012 C. Installation
Once Genesis is positioned, connect the unit to a mains wall socket.
Plug the supplied Extreme power cable into the right C20 IEC and then
into the wall socket. For European customers please ensure that mains
phase is correct. Genesis has 4 output sockets at the rear. Connect
equipment to these with power cables, again ensure mains phase is
correct. Each outlet can supply a maximum of 150W, if the power
consumption of the connected units exceeds this Genesis will shut
down the power generation cell.
Turn on the RCBO on the left hand side of the back panel. Now turn on
the large button on the central front panel of Genesis. You will notice
that the LED display will show a powering up sequence.
The display will now display Voltage, Distortion, Power. Below the
screen are two control buttons, with these you can turn on the two
power generation cells. Each controls two output sockets. To turn on
the cell hold the button in for 3 seconds. The screen will show
‘OUTPUT: 1&2: ON’. The screen will also update the input Voltage,
Distortion and Power, after 10 seconds the screen will display the
product name. If you wish to re-read the input and output data simply
press either of the control buttons. The left control button will show
information relating to outputs ‘1&2’, the right information about ‘3&4’.
You can also turn off the two banks of output sockets by holding down
the control button for 3 seconds.
Once the power cells are on and the output sockets are being supplied
with clean power you can turn on your connected front-end equipment
one by one.
The apparatus must be connected to an earthed mains
soc et-outlet.

March 2012 D. Troubleshooting
The front LED display does not illuminate.
Check that the 32Amp RCBO on the left hand side of the back
panel is turned on. Check that the power cable is correctly
connected to the power input socket.
Check that the mains cable is securely plugged into the wall
socket.
On rare occasions the fuse in the main distribution fuse box may
also need to be checked.
Check that the central front power on button is also turned on by
pushing full in.
The front LED display is on but I have no power to the outlets.
Check that each of the two power cells is on. These are turned on
by the two control buttons under the LED display screen. To turn
on outputs ‘1&2’ hold down the left control button for 3 seconds,
the screen will update and display this. To turn on outputs ‘3&4’
hold down the right control button for 3 seconds, the screen will
update to display this.
We would strongly recommend a simple check of mains polarity. Your
local IsoTek authorised dealer will be able to supply a product through
us to help you establish this. Mains polarity is of particular importance
in markets where European Shuko plugs are used.
Always replace fuses with the same fuse type and rating.
Please contact us by email; [email protected] if you are in
any doubt about the correct fusing or need further help with fault
finding.
