PORTABLE RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICE (PRCD)
High power requires high safety! This reel features a PRCD which offers a
level of protection that ordinary fuses and circuit breakers cannot provide.
A PRCD is a lifesaving safety device designed to prevent fatal electric shock,
when the user is exposed to ‘live’ elements such a bare wires and can also
provide some protection against electrical res.

CABLE REEL RETRACTABLE
130.001 POWER CABLE
RETRACTABLE WITH PRCD

PORTABLE RCDS
A portable RCD plugs directly into any standard sock outlet, allowing the
appliance to then be plugged into the RCD. Useful when neither xed nor
socket-outlet RCDs are available, they provide protection to the user in
contact with the equipment.
MAINTENANCE
This cable reel is not designed to be serviced however regular inspection of
the cable and case is necessary to ensure the device works as intended. Do
not try and repair this device unless you are an accredited electrician. This
device use mains current and is high voltage.
Models with PRCD require the RCD to be tested every time you use it. Once
the PRCD is connected to the mains power, press the ‘RESET’ button to turn
the device on. Press the ‘TEST’ button to ensure RCD is working correctly. If
pressing the ‘TEST’ button does not work as intended, do not attempt to x or
use the device until you consult an authorized electrician.
WARNING
DO NOT operate unless cable is fully unwound from the cable drum.
Position cable reel carefully to avoid accidents.
DO NOT attempt to repair this cable reel unless you are an authorized
electrician.
DO NOT attempt to use items that draw power beyond the maximum
total load.
DO NOT let the cable retract un-assisted, doing so may result in
damage or injury.
DO NOT try to open the inner drum
assembly. It contains a spring under
pressure and may cause injury or damage.
DO NOT allow heavy equipment to hang unsupported from the cable or
sockets.
MUST NOT EXCEED RATING TOTAL LOAD CONNECTED
DO NOT USE if supply cord is damaged
PRCD models:
DO NOT attempt to use this device if the PRCD TEST button fails.
Press RESET button: indicator should be “on”
Press TEST button: indicator should be “off”

OPERATION
The 130.001 cable reel is designed as a portable power outlet, using the
male plug on the outlet cable.
The 130.078 and 130.089 models are designed as a portable extension lead,
with mains power needed after the cable has been extracted.
EXTRACTING THE CABLE
Ensure the ‘POWER’ switch is in the ‘OFF’ position.
Holding with one hand, slowly pull the cable ensuring it locks into position
each time before pulling the next length. The lock position is easily
recognised by a clicking noise. Alternatively, the cable reel can be placed
on the ground on its rubber feet. To extract whilst the reel is on the ground,
place one foot on the reel while using both hands to extract the cable, also
ensuring that the cable locks into position as each length is pulled.
DO NOT retract the cable past the rst warning sticker displayed on the
cable.
Once all cable is retracted, place the male plug into mains power, the
appliance being used into the female plug of the reel and switch the ‘POWER’
to the ‘ON’ position.
For PRCD models, the ‘RESET’ button must be pushed to enable power
supply to the cable reel.
RETRACTING THE CABLE
Pull the cable slightly past the last clicking noise, then let the cable slowly
retract. DO NOT allow the cable to retract unassisted, as this may cause
damage to the cable or injury to the user.
USING THE RETRACT LOCK OFF
The retract lock off ensures the cable will not retract while work is being
conducted. To use the retract lock off, simply push the retract lock off switch
into position. To disengage, simply retract the cable as per normal.
RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICE
A Residual Current Device (RCD) is a life-saving safety device designed to
prevent potentially fatal electric shock, when the user is exposed to ‘live’
elements such as bare wires. It can lso provide some protection against
electrical res. RCDs offer a level of protection that ordinary fuses and
circuit-breakers cannot provide.
WHAT DOES AN RCD DO?
An RCD is a sensitive safety device that switches off electricity automatically
if there is a fault. An RCD is designed to protect against the risks of
electrocution and re caused by earth faults. For example, if you cut through
the cable when mowing the lawn and accidentally touched the exposed live
wires or a faulty appliance overheats causing electric current to ow to earth.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
An RCD constantly monitors the electric current owing through one or more
circuits it is used to protect. If the RCD detects electricity owing down an
unintended path, the unit will switch the circuit off suddenly, signicantly
reducing the risk of death or serious injury.
