Adult size notes:
- Example layout above with two 1x10x8' boards. All material is 3/4" thick.
15 total slats at 19-1/2" long and 2" wide, except for the captured seat slat. It
is installed last and cut to the same width as the seat assembly.
- Sixty 1-1/4" wood screws are needed. Use outdoor rated screws if you plan
on using it outdoors.
- Drill pilot holes for all screws to prevent splitting.
- All slats receive a 1/4" roundover on all long edges.

Children's size notes:
- Example layout above with one 1x10x10' board. All material is 3/4" thick.
13 total slats at 14" long and 2" wide, except for the captured seat slat. It is
installed last and cut to the same width as the seat assembly. The diagram
shows room for 16 slats but only 13 are necessary.
- 52 1-1/4" wood screws are needed. Use outdoor rated screws if you plan
on using it outdoors.
- Drill pilot holes for all screws to prevent splitting.
- All slats receive a 1/4" roundover on all long edges.

Step 1
Start with the back assembly. Clamp the lowest front slat
in place with a 1/4" overhang. Then hold the second
highest slat in place, drill pilot holes, and secure with
screws. With the first slat clamped and the second slat
screwed in place the assembly becomes rigid.
Step 2
Install the rest of the slats the same way making sure to
maintain a 1/4" overhang. The top slat only has one
reference side so it should be installed last in this sequence.
The top screws on the top slat needs to be angled in to
prevent splitting of the end of the side pieces.
Step 4
Clamp the seat sides INSIDE the back assembly and use
either nails or 1/16" drill bits as spacers between the seat
and back sides. Secure the seat slats making sure to
maintain the same 1/4" overhang from the back assembly.
Step 5
Remove the seat assembly and install the captured slat.
This slat needs to be cut flush with the side of the seat
sides. Drill pilot holes and secure with screws from the
bottom side of the seat sides.
Step 3
Remove the clamps and secure the last
slat on the back assembly.
NOTE:
While the sides have a slightly different number of slats and slat locations for the children's
version vs. the adult version the assembly is the exact same. These diagrams show assembly for
the adult version but it is the exact same process for the children's version.
