North American emissions compliance
United States
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with
the limits for a Class A digital device pursuant to Part 15
of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference when
this equipment is operated in a commercial environment.
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instruction manual, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. Operation
of this equipment in a residential area may cause harmful
interference, in which case the users will be required to
correct the interference at their own expense.
Warning (Part 15.21)
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the
party responsible for compliance could void the user’s
authority to operate the equipment.
Canada
This Class (A) digital apparatus meets all the requirements
of the Canadian Interference-Causing Equipment
Regulations.

les exigences du Règlement sur le matériel brouilleur du
Canada.
Industry Canada Statement(s)
This device complies with Industry Canada licence-exempt
RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two
conditions:
1. This device may not cause interference, and
2. This device must accept any interference, including
interference that may cause undesired operation of
the device.

Installation
NOTICE
Risk of Property Damage
Ensure that the power source conforms to the
requirements of the equipment. Failure to use a
correct power source may result in permanent damage
to the equipment.
NOTICE
Risque de dégâts matériels
S'assurer que la source d'alimentation électrique
est conforme aux spécifications de l'équipement.
L'utilisation d'une source d'alimentation électrique
inappropriée risque d'endommager irrémédiablement
l'équipement.
Important: The NSD1380 Nurses Station Display
must be wired to 24 VAC only. Wiring the unit to 110
VAC will cause serious damage to the unit and void
the warranty.

Mounting
• Select the mounting location of the NSD1380 Nurses
Station Display (NSD). The construction plans normally
show the mounting location. If no location is specified,
then the unit is typically installed near the nurses’
station desk.
• Install a triple-gang, standard-depth electrical box (6 in.
x 4 in. [152 mm x 102 mm]). The electrical box must be
installed level and flush with the wall surface.
• Insert and tighten screws to secure the NSD to the
electrical box (Figure 1).

Wiring
Important: Do not apply voltage to the RS-485
output, BACnet® output, analog output, or control
output. Severe damage may occur to the unit if
voltage is applied.
Important: Do not connect more than 24 VAC to any
terminal.
Important: Use copper conductors only. Make
all wiring in accordance with local, national, and
regional regulations.
Important: Do not exceed the unit’s electrical
ratings. Exceeding the unit’s electrical ratings can
result in permanent damage to the modules and void
any warranty.
Important: Run all low-voltage wiring and cables
separate from all high-voltage wiring. Shielded
cable is strongly recommended for input (sensor)
and analog output cables that are exposed to high
electromagnetic or radio frequency noise.
Important: Electrostatic discharge can damage
the unit. Use proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
precautions during installation and servicing to avoid
damaging the unit.
Important: Do not connect supply power to the unit
before checking all wiring connections. Short circuits
or improperly connected wires can result in damage
to the unit and void any warranty.
Wiring Recommendations
Use 18 to 22 AWG (1.0 to 0.6 mm diameter) stranded wire.
Follow good wiring practices:
• Control cables should cross power cables at a 90-degree
angle.
• Use a consistent color code to maintain polarity.
• Use a series configuration (daisy-chain wiring) for
connecting the NSD to room pressure monitors and
controllers.
Wiring Procedure
1. Remove the connectors from the back of the NSD.
2. See Figure 2 for proper wiring installation. If
additional options need to be wired, refer to
building prints for the proper wiring diagram.

RPM1600 Series Room Pressure Monitors,RPC1611 Room
Pressure Controllers, and NSD1380 Nurses Station Display
Important: Wire the NSD exactly as the wiring
diagram shows. Making modifications to the
wiring may severely damage the unit.
Important: Use MS-BACEOL-0 end-of-line (EOL)
terminations if the installed device is the last
device in the communications chain. The 100
Ohm reference resistors are optional.
3. Plug the connectors back into the NSD.
4. Carefully push the wires into the electrical box and
mount the NSD. Install four screws to hold the NSD
firmly to the base.
5. Press the cover plate onto the NSD1380 Nurses
Station Display.
