How Induction Hobs work
An Induction Hob heats in a dynamically new
way. A very strong magnetic field is created
by electricity running through an electrical
coil positioned under a ceramic plate. The
‘induction current’, created by the magnetic
field, generates heat in any magnetic cookware,
when standing on the ceramic plate.
Suitable cookware for
Induction Hob use
Only pans that are MAGNETIC can be used on
Induction Hobs. Most recent Judge, Judge, and
Horwood cookware is induction-ready, and
is described as ‘Suitable for ALL Hobs’. Some
cookware, although made of non-magnetic
materials, has special Bases which allow
efficient working on Induction Hobs. It is easy
to see if your current cookware is suitable for
use on an Induction Hob - just see if a fridge
magnet will stick to the Base of the pans. If it
does, the pan is magnetic and will heat on an
Induction Hob.
SUITABLE PANS
◆Enamel Coated Steel, with or
without a non-stick coating.
◆Cast Iron cookware, with or without
an enamel-coated base.
◆Stainless Steel cookware specially designed
for Induction Hob use - described on
Judge, Judge and Horwood packaging
as ‘Suitable for ALL hob types’.
◆Aluminium and ‘Hard Anodised’
cookware, ONLY if it has bases specially
constructed for Induction Hob Use.
UNSUITABLE PANS
◆Glass, Ceramic, Earthenware, Aluminium,
Copper, unless the pans are fitted with
special Induction Hob Bases. Suitability
for Induction Hob use is usually made
clear on current cookware packaging.
◆Any pan with a Base diameter of less than 12cm.
Features
The Judge Portable ‘Touch
Control’ Dual Zone Induction
Hob has many advantages:
◆Safe: Only the pans are
heated - the ceramic plate
remains relatively cool.
◆Clean: Because the ceramic
plate stays relatively cool, spilt
food will not burn-on to the
surface, and can be simply
wiped off at the end of cooking.
◆Energy Efficient: Induction
Hobs consume less electricity.
◆Controllable: Hob temperatures
can be set in 8 steps -
◆Please note these temperature
settings are approximate
and must be used as a guide
only. Temperatures will vary
+ or - 10° depending upon
the type of cookware used
◆Cooking temperatures are
reached in seconds: then
heat can be reduced from a
fast boil to a gentle simmer
extremely quickly compared
to conventional hobs.
◆Easy to use: sensitive ‘touch
control’ switches - positive
and easy to clean.

How to use the Hob
1. Plug-in the Hob to a socket.
2. A “beep” will sound to
confirm connection.
3. Place suitable cookware on one
or both heating zones / .
4. Touch the power switch .
Then for each zone:
5. Touch and the heating
zone will heat to Level 5.
6. The heat level can then be adjusted
by touching the and controls.
7. Pressing the control will lock
the heat setting - until the is
touched and held to unlock.
8. After a heating zone / has been
heated, the cooling fan will operate
for one extra minute to cool the device.
Timer
◆You can set the timer for one of
the two heating zones / , or both
zones to the same time. Simply operate
the plus or minus controls for Timer.
◆Settings may be locked by pressing the
control. Times can be set from
0 - 99 minutes.
Heating levels shown in power levels.
Hob temperatures can be set in 8 steps
◆Turn off the device by touching
the power switch .
How to clean the hob
The hob must be disconnected from
mains supply and completely cooled
down before cleaning.
◆Hob Plate: Clean with a warm
soapy damp cloth, or occasionally
a proprietary Hob Cleaner.
◆Casing: Clean with a warm
soapy damp cloth.
◆Air Circulation Ports: Wipe
surfaces with a cotton bud, or
warm soapy damp cloth.
◆DO NOT immerse the
Induction Hob in water.
Error messages
◆If a heating level is set when there is no
cookware or unsuitable cookware on the
heating zone, the display will flash ‘E’.
◆E0: Cookware not present, is not
suitable for use with induction hobs
or has an induction base less than
12cm diameter; hob powers off and
“beeps” - use compatible cookware.
If the following messages are shown on
the display, please contact Judge at the
address given in the Warranty section.
◆E1: Overheating of IGBT or
damage to thermal resistor
◆E2 or E5: Damage to temperature
sensor/ dry boiling protection
◆E3: Too high or too low supply voltage

Fitting into a worktop
The portable induction hob can be inset into
a typical kitchen worktop, so long as the
following guides are considered:
◆Aperture required is 27cm x 50cm
◆Allow adequate space/ventilation (well vented
15cm gap) to the underside all round, special
consideration must also be given to the North
and South side air vents 10 If cutting into a
work surface, ensure the angle is cut at 45°
to maximise the air flow. See Diagram A.
◆Ensure no ferrous (magnetic) metal is
placed within 15cm under the hob.
◆We do not advice using a silicone
mastic to seal the hob in place, simply
allow gravity to hold it in place.

Please retain your Purchase
Receipt.
Check that the Electrical
Supply ratings of the
appliance are correct for your
home (see Specication).
The Induction Hob must
be tted to an Earthed
Socket, which should have
an individually rated load of
above 10A. The plug must be
fully pushed into the socket.
Overheating could occur
if a socket is shared and
overloaded.
Do not insert plug with wet
hands.
Do not operate this device
using a Timer/Controller, or
