Maintenance
Maintenance of base plate
Once KAT Shoes match the materials of the KAT WALK base plate, there will be a fixed friction coefficient, which is the
balance point for the best experience. Thus, abrasion to the base plate will influence the product experience and the
service life of the base plate. In view of that, please note the following before the use:
Health Warnings
The following health warnings will be updated on an irregular basis for accuracy and
completeness
Instructions for daily maintenance of three-in-one cable and sensors power supply cable
It is necessary to carry out the daily maintenance of the three-in-one cable and the sensors power supply cable to
prevent them from being damaged due to entanglement. Check if the three-in-one cable and the sensors power supply
cable have any tangling every day by following the steps below:
Instructions for regular examination of girdle
When a customer weighing beyond the limit (>100kg) or with an overly sized waist, please duly check if the girdle set
has deformed. It is advised to conduct a regular examination on the girdle set every other week, mainly checking if the
bolt at the connection on the back of the girdle set has loosened, if the washer at the bolt bottom has come off, and if
the girdle set has deformed. Any problem of the girdle set may cause safety issues. As it is a component that is prone to
wear and tear, the warranty period for it is three months from the issuance of the invoice. Please immediately contact
the after sales service by dialing the KAT hotline if any of the above situations occur.
Step one: entanglement of the three-in-one cable and the sensors power supply cable (tangling): based on the
tangling direction, rotate the connecting rod in a reverse direction until the three-in-one cable is separated from
the sensors power supply cable.
Step two: twisting of the three-in-one cable (twisting, and marked wrinkles can be seen on the outside): take off
the head-mounted display, and based on the twisting direction, rotate the display in a reverse direction until the
cable returns to the smooth state with no twist.
Prevent the base plate from contacting with non KAT Shoes or any other object.
Make sure the base plate is clean without any dirt before using the machine every day. If necessary, please apply a
drop of the complimentary equipment dedicated maintenance oil (only one drop is needed).
Check if there is any dirt on the sole sliders and wheels of KAT Shoes.
Please read the User Manual before using the product and follow the instructions to do the settings. Incorrect
settings may increase the risk of discomfort.
Pregnant women, the elderly, or those with visual disorder, having a medical history of mental illness or were once
affected by serious medical conditions such as heart disease, are advised to consult a doctor before using the
product.
As different people have different constitutions, use of the product for a long time is not recommended in case of
any discomfort, such as giddiness, dizziness or headache. If you feel any discomfort, please immediately stop using
it and do not engage in any activities that may involve danger (such as driving), until all the symptoms are gone. If
the symptoms persist, please do not continue to use the product without consulting to a doctor.
If the user has a medical history of epilepsy or photosensitive epilepsy, please consult a doctor before watching
such VR contents as flashing light sources or fast image sequences.
Children should use the product under their parents’ administration to prevent any of the above mentioned
discomfort. As the visual system of children under 13 years old is not fully developed, they are not advised to use
the product.
It is not advised to use the product for too long for the first time (limit it within a few minutes). The duration should
be increased bit by bit only after the gradual adaption to the virtual reality.
A comfortable VR experience requires intact sense of movement and balance. Thus, if users who are tired, need
sleep, are affected by alcohol or drugs, are under hangover, nervousness or anxiety, or have a headache or earache,

WALK produces the foot curves and the displacement in human’s walking through a constant rolling friction, and with
the support of the base plate, creates the moving track of legs and feet. As a result, KAT SHOES become the key balance

Installation Instructions
Caution
As there are quite many cable ports, please prepare at least one three-hole plug and four
two-hole plugs, and as the adapter is big, please make sure there is sufficient space between
plugs.

1. Place the base plate on a flat and open floor and use the spanner to adjust the base plate holder to prevent the plate
from sliding.
2. Turn the metal hinges on the baste plate towards outside.

3. Unscrew the two bolts on the support pillar.

12 Starting Installation
4. At least two persons lift the support pillar and place it at the location on the base plate as shown in the figure. Turn
the hinges to direct the holes on the hinges at the screw holes on the support pillar, and re-install the bolts unscrewed
at the last step.
5. One person holds the pillar to prevent it from toppling, while the other one place a 20cm foam pad (included in the
packing box) at the location where the pillar lies.
6. Place the pillar down with caution.
7. Insert the girder into the support pillar with the flanges closely contacting with each other.

8. One person holds the support pillar, while two other persons turn the girder so that it rotates from a lying position
(position 1) to a 90° angle (position 2). Place the bolt at the connection between the girder and the support pillar in the
washer and fasten it.
9. As shown in the figure, insert the telescopic stick into the round hole at the front of the equipment, and slot the spring
pallet and the spring into the stick; then screw the safety nut onto the stick and the M5 set screws (two) to the side of
the stick; screw the round nut into the stick, and use the hook spanner to tighten it; finally slot the nylon nut into the
upper end of the stick and tighten it.

19. Loosen the base plate holder, move the KAT WALK to an appropriate position, re-fix the holder to prevent the KAT WALK
from sliding, and finish the installation.
20. Installing the pedals: As the upper surface of the KAT WALK base plate is concave and to enable users to better use our
equipment, pedals that perfectly match the base plate are added under the support of the railings on the upper end of the
girder. There is no need to install the pedals, which can be matched directly with the base plate. They are fixed onto the
plate through their own weight with no connection between them and the plate.

Instructions for the Base Plate Holder
18 Starting Installation
Caution
1. The proper and steady installation of the support pillar structure allows the user to have a good experience,
and thus, please check if the support pillar is correctly and steadily installed.
2. During the installation, avoid putting any items on the base plate and do not randomly step on the base
plate in case of any damage to it, which spoils users’ experience.
3. After the installation, check if all the bolts and nuts are fastened.
4. Please turn off the power and make sure all the circuits are power off to avoid potential risks before
installing the circuits.
5. As the length of the three-in-one cable for the head-mounted display is limited, please watch out for the
length of the remaining cable when connecting the circuit on the girder.
6. As there are quite many circuits, please differentiate the connection at all the interfaces.
7. If a bolt is not fully concentric with its hole during the installation, please slightly turn the component to
make them concentric.
There is an upper nut and a lower nut on the base plate holder, with the lower one adjusting the holder, while the upper
one fixing it. Please do tighten the two nuts when fixing the KAT WALK.
1. When moving the KAT WALK, turn the upper nut on the base plate holder clockwise to move the nut down,
and turn the lower nut counter clockwise to move the nut up. With the base plate holder shortened, the KAT
WALK can be moved.
2. When fixing the KAT WALK, turn the lower nut on the base plate holder clockwise to move the nut down,
and turn the lower nut counter clockwise to move the nut up.

Installation of KAT WALK Magnetic Side Plates
Our product is equipped with the KAT WALK magnetic Side Plates for aesthetics and protection for the mechanical
structure. Install the magnets to the installation surface on the left and the right of the base plate.
Soft magnet Installation surface
As the side plate is magnetic, we only need to
put the magnet close to the installation surface
as shown in the figure, and it will be attracted
towards the surface. Adjust it so that it is in the
center of the surface.
