This warranty covers manufacturer’s defects including electrical and mechanical defects provided the
appliance is correctly assembled, operated and maintained according to the supplied instructions. It does not
cover damage caused by accident, misuse or abuse including overheating, unauthorized repairs or
alterations, or use with a voltage converter or aftermarket accessories, and it does not apply to scratches,
stains, discoloration or other surface damage that does not impair the product function. This warranty is void
if the appliance is ever used for purposes other than private household use.

When using your Kenmore Smooth-Edge Electric Can Opener, basic safety precautions
should always be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
2. Before using the appliance for the rst time, remove any packaging material, promo-
tional labels, and stickers. Safely dispose of plastic bags or small pieces that could
present a suocation or choking hazard to young children.
3. Before using, check that the voltage of the wall outlet corresponds to the one shown
on the rating plate. Do not attempt to use the appliance with a voltage converter.
4. POLARIZED PLUG: This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is
wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will t in a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still
does not t, contact a qualied electrician. DO NOT attempt to alter the plug in any way
to make it t.
5. Do not attempt to operate the appliance if there is damage to the cord or plug, after
it has malfunctioned or been dropped or damaged in any way, or if it is not operating
properly. Contact Koolatron Customer Assistance for information on repair and warran-
ty options.
6. Always unplug the appliance from the power source when not in use, before assem-
bling or disassembling, and before cleaning. To unplug, grasp plug and pull it from the
electrical outlet; never unplug the appliance by pulling on the power cord.

electrical plug in any liquid. If the appliance falls into or accidentally becomes immersed
in water, immediately unplug it from the wall outlet. DO NOT REACH INTO THE WATER.

surfaces, such as the stovetop or cooking pot.
9. This appliance is recommended for indoor household use only and not for commer-
cial or industrial use. Do not use outdoors. Using this appliance for anything other than
its intended use will void your warranty.

19. Do not use the can opener to open cans weighing more than 50 oz (1420 g). When
opening a can weighing 30-50 oz (850-1420g), it is necessary to hold down the can
opener to prevent it from overturning.
20. Do not attempt to operate the appliance by any method other than those described
in this manual. Aftermarket attachments or accessories not recommended by Kenmore
will void your warranty and may cause re, electrical shock, or injury.

USING YOUR CAN OPENER
OFF POSITION OPEN CAN CAN RELEASE
1. Read these instructions thoroughly and save for future reference.
2. Carefully unpack the appliance from its packaging and check that all parts are present. Remove
any promotional labels or stickers and safely dispose of plastic bags or small pieces that could
present a suocation or choking hazard.
3. Wipe the can opener base and cutting mechanism with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dirt
or dust. Do not immerse any part of the can opener, power cord, or electrical plug in any liquid. Do
not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads.
1. Place the can opener on a at, dry surface. Check that the control switch on top is in the OFF
position and then plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
NOTE - You can pause operation at any time without releasing the can at any time by pressing
lightly on the CAN RELEASE icon. Press the OPEN CAN icon again to restart.
NOTE - The can opener WILL NOT stop automatically when the can is open. Do not leave the can
opener unattended while operating.
2. Position the top of the can under the guide
bar with the rim on the lid rest, making sure
the can is aligned with the cutting mecha-
nism.
3. Press down on the OPEN CAN icon on the
control switch to start the can opening opera-
tion. The drive wheel will start rotating
counterclockwise and move inwards to grip
the can (Figure 1). Once the drive wheel stops
moving inwards (2-3 seconds) you no longer
need to hold the can.
4. When the can has completed one full
rotation, hold it rmly with one hand and
press and hold the CAN RELEASE icon with the
other hand. The drive wheel will rotate
clockwise and move outwards to release the
can (Figure 2). Release the control switch to
return it to the OFF position.
5. Carefully lift the lid to remove it from the
can.

Lorsque vous utilisez votre ouvre-boîte électrique Kenmore, des précautions de sécurité
de base doivent toujours être suivies, notamment les suivantes :

2. Avant d’utiliser l’appareil pour la première fois, retirez tout matériel d’emballage,
étiquettes promotionnelles et autocollantes. Jetez en toute sécurité les sacs en
plastique ou les petits morceaux qui pourraient présenter un risque de suocation ou
d’étouement pour les jeunes enfants.
3. Avant d’utiliser le mélangeur, vériez que la tension de la prise murale correspond à
celle indiquée sur la plaque signalétique. N’essayez pas d’utiliser l’appareil avec un
convertisseur de tension.
4. FICHE POLARISÉE : Cet appareil est équipé d’une che polarisée (une broche est plus
large que l’autre). Pour réduire le risque de choc électrique, cette che ne peut être
insérée dans une prise polarisée que dans un seul sens. Si la che n’entre pas dans la
prise, inversez la che dans l’autre sens. Si elle ne s’insère toujours pas, veuillez prendre
contact avec un électricien qualié. N’essayez PAS de modier la che de quelque
manière que ce soit pour l’adapter.
5. N’essayez pas de faire fonctionner l’appareil si le cordon ou la che est endommagé,
après qu’il a mal fonctionné ou qu’il a tombé ou a été endommagé de quelque manière
que ce soit, ou s’il ne fonctionne pas correctement. Contactez le service à la clientèle de

6. Débranchez toujours l’appareil de la source d’alimentation lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé,
avant de l’assembler ou de le désassembler et avant de le nettoyer. Pour débrancher,
saisissez la che et retirez-la de la prise électrique; ne débranchez jamais l’appareil en
tirant sur le cordon d’alimentation.
7. Pour vous protéger contre les chocs électriques, ne plongez pas la base de l’appareil,
le cordon d’alimentation ou la che électrique dans du liquide. Si l’appareil tombe ou

• This can opener will easily open all standard-size cans, including non-circular cans, and cans with
pop-top lids.
• It is not suitable for opening rimless cans, cans with angled corners, cans with a diameter less
than 2.1 in (5.5 cm) or height greater than 7 in (17.7 cm), or cans weighing over 50 oz (1420g).
• If there is a bump, dent, or heavy seam in the rim of the can, start the cutting action just beyond
the area.
• When opening a can weighing 30-50 oz. (850-1420g), it is necessary to hold down the can
opener to prevent it from overturning.
• Do not hold the can while the can is being opened.
• Do hold the can rmly when releasing to avoid dropping it.
• Listen to the can opener motor; when the sound shifts to a higher pitch, the can is open.
• Stop the can opener after one rotation; continuing after one rotation can increase the risk of
metal slivers.
• This smooth-edge can opener cuts around the side of the can, leaving the rim on the lid to
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
1. Unplug the can opener from its power source.
