Keyspan USB Server QuickStart
Thank you for purchasing the Keyspan USB Server. This QuickStart guide is intended to
quickly get you up and running with your new Keyspan USB Server. For more detailed
instructions, please refer to the electronic documentation on your Keyspan CD.

Hardware Installation
Connect your Keyspan USB Server to your network using a RJ45
Ethernet cable. Then connect the included power supply to your Keyspan
USB Server. You should now see lights on your Keyspan USB Server. When
the left-most (green) SYSTEM light starts blinking slowly (once every 3
seconds), proceed to the next step.
TROUBLESHOOTING
: If the do not see the left-most (green) SYSTEM light blinking
slowly, please read the detailed troubleshooting instructions located in the USB Server’s elec-
tronic user’s manual. This manual can be found on your Keyspan CD and web site.
Software Installation
Turn your computer ON. When your computer starts up, place the Keyspan
USB Server CD into the CD-ROM drive.

Finishing Up - Additional Help
You have now installed your Keyspan USB Server hardware and software as
well as learned how to use your rst USB device via your USB Server. The
instructions provided here are intended to cover the basic use of the Keyspan
USB Server using our default settings. While our default settings are suit-
able for most uses, you may want to con gure the USB Server to use differ-
ent settings depending on your needs. Please refer to our electronic user’s
manual for more information about changing your settings.
Notes About Networks And Multiple Users
By default, the Keyspan USB Server can be accessible to your computer via
a LAN (local area network) or Wireless LAN. If you want additional users
to connect to your USB Server, you will need to install the Keyspan USB
Server software on each ‘client’ computer.
Notes About Firewalls
If you have installed a software or hardware rewall, you may need to
con gure it to allow access to your USB Server. Please refer to our electronic
user’s manual for further details.

When the CD icon appears on your desktop, double click on its icon to display its contents.
Locate the Keyspan USB Server Installer icon and double click to start the installation
process. Follow the instructions on-screen.
WINDOWS

Windows will automatically open the Keyspan CD Browser window. Using the on-screen
menus, locate the Keyspan USB Server Installer selection and click it to start the installation
process. Follow the instructions on-screen.
WINDOWS Tech Note
: During and/or after the software installation, the Windows New
WINDOWS Tech Note: During and/or after the software installation, the Windows New WINDOWS Tech Note
Hardware Wizard may ask you to install software several times. Select ‘Install the software
automatically’. You may also get an additional prompt regarding logo testing, click ‘Contin-
ue Anyway’ to proceed. Please note that you may need to repeat this process up to 3 times.
Once the Keyspan installer completes, it will automatically launch the
Keyspan USB Server application. Once this window opens, proceed to the
next step.
Using Your First USB Device Via The Keyspan USB Server
Physically connect your rstUSB device (ie printer, scanner, etc) to any USB
port on the USB Server. Then open the Keyspan USB Server application.

The Keyspan USB Server application is located in your Applications folder.

The Keyspan USB Server application is located in your START menu -> PROGRAMS ->
KEYSPAN USB SERVER.
Once the Keyspan USB Server application is open, click on the
USB
Devices
tab. You will notice your USB device located under the
Other
Devices
heading.
To use your USB device, select your device by clicking on its name and then
click the
Connect
button at the bottom of the USB Devices tab. This will
move your USB device to the
My Devices
heading. You can now use your
device as if it is directly connected to your computer.
When you are nished using your USB device, select your USB device and
click the
Disconnect
button at the bottom of the USB Devices tab. This
will return your USB devices to
Other Devices
and make your device
available to other USB Server users. To use additional USB devices, repeat
this step.
