Terminology:
The following technical terms are used in these instructions:
Permeate: Demineralised water produced by the RO-unit which is fed into the integrated
storage tank
Concentrate: Water containing the salts and minerals extracted from the raw water.
Raw water: Water from the mains drinking water supply
Treated water: Demineralised water produced by the RO-unit (permeate).
TDS: Total Dissolved Solids
µS/cm: Term describing the conductivity of the water. The lower the number is, the bet-
ter the water quality is.

Location of the RO-unit:
!
The RO-unit must be installed in a location with open floor drain



Install the RO-unit in a frost-free location.
Install the RO-unit on an even horizontal surface, otherwise the storage
tank of the RO-unit may overflow.
The surface must be capable of withstanding a weight of approx.
76 kg –RO-Compact1
125 kg –RO-Compact2
138 kg –RO-Compact3
If you install the RO-unit under a work surface, allow a clearance height
of 101 cm for removing the cover. If sufficient space is not available, the
RO-unit can also be pulled out forwards for servicing. In this case, a
flexible hose must be used for the water connection.
Make room behind the RO-unit for the water in- and outlet installations.
It is important that the drain hose does not fold!
Sufficient space must be allowed to the sides and rear of the RO-unit to
avoid blocking the ventilation grids of the integrated pumps.
The location has an open gully
Frost-free, even and horizontal surface
Surface is capable of withstanding a weight of approx. 76 - 138 kg.
Sufficient place is allowed to the sides and the rear of the RO-unit for in- and
outlet installation and ventilation.

Plumbing:
!
The water connections for the RO-unit must meet the requirements of all
present regulations
The RO-unit must be connected to the cold water supply (max 25o).
Install a water shut-off valve and a water meter in the raw water inlet.
Maximum hardness of inlet water 25odh.( compact 1)
10odh.( compact 2 & 3)
The water inlet must be sufficiently large (at least ½”)



We recommend the installation of a pressure gauge before the RO-unit to be
able to monitor the water pressure.
!
To protect the RO-unit from dirt the enclosed ¾” micro filter must be
installed between the inlet hose and the inlet of the RO-unit.
This micro filter must be removed and cleaned every 6th month at a minimum
or if the plumbing of the building is being repaired.
The raw water meets all requirements of present regulations
Correctly connected to cold water
Diameter of inlet hose is ½” at least
Install the filter strainer before the RO-unit
Maximum hardness of inlet water 25odh.( compact1)
10odh.( compact 2 & 3)

Water quality:
!
The raw water, which will be treated in the RO-unit, must be of drinking water
quality and must not contain more than up to 1000 mg/l TDS as CACO3.
In addition to this the raw water must not exceed these limit values for chemi-
cal substances:
Fe: 0,05 mg/l
Mg: 0,02 mg/l
Chlorine, free: 0,1 mg/l
NTU, max: 1,0
Silt index SDI: < 3,0
Temp. Max: 25oC
KmnO4, max: 10,0 mg/l
Water pressure: 2 –7 bar



In case of doubts about the chemical substances of the raw water a water
analysis must be performed.
The raw water is of drinking water quality
The feed water to the RO-unit does not exceed the limit values above.

Wiring:

The electrical connection must be done in accordance with all local rules and
regulations.




Colour-codes for connection cable wires:
Conductor, blue: 0
Conductor, brown: Live

Connecting the RO-unit:
Connect the feed water with a ¾” flexible water connection tube to the micro filter and
the water inlet of the RO-unit (connection point 1).
Mount a ¾” flexible water connection tube to the outlet connection point of the RO-
unit (connection point 2) and connect the other end to the user application.
!
The connections must be made with a corrosion-resistant tube or pipe made of
stainless steel, plastic or pressure-proof rubber material to food-safe stand-
ards, for example. Fully demineralised water can cause other materials to de-
compose.
The user application must have a minimum water usages of 1 l/m.
Mount the supplied 10 mm. plastic tube at the drain connection (connection point 3).

The drain tube is correctly connected when it cannot be pulled out without ac-
tuating the lock ring.
Connect the opposite end of the drain tube to an open floor drain.
!
Ensure that the drain tube is without kinks and not blocked in any way as this
will ruin the membranes.
Use a ½” tube to connect the overflow at the back of the unit to an open floor drain.
Cannot be connected to the drain tube with a Tee.
This is a system safety, and the connection should be made to as a part of a proper
installation. If an error occurs at the level control of the RO-unit, excess permeate will
be led to drain.

Start-up the RO-Unit:
!
Before start-up check that all plumbing and wiring has been done in
accordance with all local rules and regulations.
Open the water shot-off valve.
Check that all water connections are tight.
Insert the main plug
Switch on the RO-unit with the toggle switch.
The “No Water Alarm” light flashes approx. 30 times and 3 horizontal lines appear in
the display.
After approx. 7 seconds, the high-pressure pump switches on in order to produce
permeate in the storage tank.
For venting the RO-unit, turn off the unit 3-4 times at the on/off switch.
The RO-unit is equipped with 3 level sensors. As soon as the midway level is
reached in the storage tank, the 3 horizontal lines start to flash.
Once the upper level is reached in the storage tank, the output in litres per hour ap-
pears at the display.
NOTE: If there is water used before it is finished, the display will still show the 3 hori-
zontal lines in the display. Because the count was interrupted.
Check the temperature of the raw water.

As soon as approx. 9 –11 litres of permeate have been removed, the high-pressure
pump switches on to start permeate production. The time taken depends on the tem-
perature of the raw water, but should average around 3 to 4 minutes.
„No Water“ message lights up, once the RO-unit switches to „By-Pass“
If the permeate output per hour is too low the „Membrane Alarm“ message lights up.
If the permeate output per hour is too high the „Membrane Alarm“ message lights up.
!
Check that the RO-unit shuts of automatically in case of too low raw water
pressure or missing water supply.
This can be done by closing the water shut-off valve while the unit is running.
Once the inlet water pressure drops below 1 bar, the RO-unit will shut-off itself.
When the water shut-off valve is opened again and the pressure exceeds 1 bar,
the RO-unit will run again automatically.
Slowly close the water shut-off while the RO-unit is still running. As soon as the water
supply has been completely turned off, the RO-unit must automatically turn it self off.
Slowly open the water shut-off again. As soon as the water supply is back to normal
the RO-unit must be running by itself.
The RO-unit is now running and producing permeate. Wait for the level control to stop
the production, the storage tank will be filled with permeate after approximately 15-
17. Minutes. Hereafter the user application can be used with permeate water.

Providing that the power is not turned off, the unit will continuously flush the
concentrate side of the membranes with permeate during non-operation peri-
ods. This is to prevent dissolved mineral salts to move to the permeate side of
the membranes. It will ensure a permanently high quality of permeate and a
lengthened longevity of the membranes.
