ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS MUST BE DONE BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN
SERIOUS INJURY! ALL ADJUSTMENTS OR REPAIRS MUST BE DONE WITH THIS POWER TOOL DISCONNECTED FROM THE
POWER SOURCE. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY!
POWER SUPPLY
WARNING: YOUR HEDGE TRIMMER IS WIRED AT THE FACTORY FOR 110-120V OPERATION,
IT MUST BE CONNECTED TO A 110-120V/15-AMP. TIME DELAY FUSE OR CIRCUIT BREAKER.
FAILURE TO CONNECT IN THIS WAY CAN RESULT IN INJURY FROM SHOCK OR FIRE. The
hedge trimmer power cord (A) Fig.1 is intended for use with a polarized 2 wire or 3 wire extension
cord (B) as illustrated in Fig.1.
SAFETY WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS: POLARIZED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this hedge trimmer comes with a polarized 120V plug (one
blade is wider than the other). It must be used with a suitable polarized 2 wire or 3 wire extension
cord. Polarized connections will fit together only one way. Make sure that the receptacle end of the
extension cord has large and small blade slot widths. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension
cord, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, obtain a suitable extension cord. If the extension cord does not fit fully in the outlet, contact a
qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not modify the tool plug or extension cord in any way.
USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD
Make sure the extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one
heavy enough to carry the current your tool will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line
voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. See Fig.2 for table showing correct size to use
depending on the cord lenght and the nameplate amperage rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier
gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord. Always use U.L. or CSA listed extension
cords rated for outdoor use.
WARNING: Replace damaged cords immediately.Use of damaged cords can shock, burn or
electrocute.
CONNECTING THE POWER CORD TOEXTENSION CORD
Secure the extension cord (A) Fig.3 to the extension cord lock (B) on the motor
housing. First bend the end of the extension cord and then pass it through the cord lock
opening (C). Then slip the extension cord around the “T” notch cord lock (B) and pull
on the extension cord to get a tight fit. This will prevent accidental unplugging of the
extension cord during use. Then plug the female end of the extension cord (D) into the
tool’s polarized plug (E).
WARNING! Toreduce risk of electric shock, do not expose to rain, do not use on wet
surfaces. Store indoors.

ASSEMBLY
This hedge trimmer has been shipped completely assembled. Inspect your
tool and make sure no damage has occurred during transport. If any parts are
damaged, do not operate this tool until the parts are replaced or the tool is
repaired. Do not attempt to modify this tool, this could lead to hazardous
working condition and could cause serious personal injury.
OPERATION
STARTING AND STOPPING
Refer to the Electrical Information page for the installation and connection of
the power cord.
Warning! To avoid serious personal injury, always wear safety glasses,
appropriate clothing such as boots, gloves, long pants and long-sleeved shirt.
As a safety feature, this hedge trimmer comes with a two-handed multi-grip
switch system. If you only squeeze one trigger, the hedge trimmer will not turn
On. Toturn the hedge trimmer On, squeeze both triggers (A &B) Fig.4 at the
same time. Trigger (B) can be activated by pressing in three different
directions as indicated by the arrows in Fig.4. To turn the hedge trimmer Off,
simply release one or both triggers.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
Trimming instructions-
Extension cord- Always keep the extension cord behind the hedge trimmer
and away from the shearing blade. Never place it over a hedge being trimmed.
If you cut or damage the extension cord, unplug it immediately from the
electrical outlet before inspecting or repairing extension cord.
Working position- Maintain proper footing and balance at all times, do not
overreach. Always wear safety glasses and gloves when trimming. Hold the
tool firmly with both hands, depress both triggers to turn trimmer On as shown
in Fig.5. Make sure you have one hand on the body handle and the other on
the front handle. Never hold the trimmer by the hand safety guard.
Trimming/cutting new growth- Using a wide sweeping motion, feeding the
shearing blade teeth through the leaves and twigs is the most effective method
of trimming. A slight downward tilt of the shearing blade, in the direction of
motion will produce the best cutting results.
Trimming/cutting old growth- Old growth will have thicker stems and will be
trimmed easiest by using a sawing motion.
Leveling hedges- To obtain perfectly level hedges, we recommend using a
piece of string as a guide along the length of the hedges.
Trimming the sides of hedges- Hold the trimmer sideways and begin the
trimming operation at the bottom of the hedge and sweep upwards as shown
in Fig.6.
Warning! Never use the hedge trimmer near power lines, fences, posts or
building. Never use the hedge trimmer after hitting a hard object without first
inspecting the blade for damage. Do not use if blade damage is found.

MAINTENANCE
MAINTENENCE
WARNING: For your own safety, remove extension cord plug from power source outlet before cleaning or servicing your hedge trimmer.
WARNING: All repairs, electrical or mechanical, should be attempted only by trained repairmen. Contact the nearest King Canada Service
Center. Use only identical replacement parts, any other may create a hazard. If the power cord is worn or cut, or damaged in any way, have it
replaced immediately.
INSPECTION
If you drop the trimmer, carefully inspect it for damage. If the blade is bent, housing cracked, or handles broken or if you see any other condition
that may affect the trimmer’s operation contact an authorized service center for repairs before putting it back into use.
BLADE LUBRICATION
For easier operation and longer blade life, lubricate the shearing blade before and after each use.
Apply light machine oil (3-in-1 oil) along the edge of the blade as shown in Fig.7.
BLADE SHARPENING
The cutting blades are made from high quality, hardened steel and with normal usage, they will not
require resharpening. However, if you accidentally hit a wire fence, stones, glass or other hard
objects, you may put a nick in the blade. There is no need to remove this nick as long as it does not
interfere with the movement of the blade. If it does interfere, unplug unit and use a fine toothed file
or sharpening stone to remove the nick. Slide the file or stone down the length of each blade until
you reach the pointed end. Hold your fine toothed file or sharpening stone in such a way to
maintain the factory ground angle on the blade. If unsure of the sharpening steps, take your hedge
trimmer to a professional to get sharpened.
CLEANING AND STORAGE-UNPLUG TOOL! (Unplug extension cord at power source.)
CAUTION: DO NOT POUR OR SPRAY WATER ON THE TOOL IN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAN. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never
immerse any part of the tool into a liquid. Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals. Such storage can cause rapid corrosion
of the metal parts.
Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool.
WARNING: Certain cleaning agents and solvents can damage plastic parts. Some of these are: gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated
cleaning solvents, ammonia and household detergents which contain ammonia. Avoiding use of these and other types of cleaning agents will
minimize the possibility of damage.
