Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

Do not use appliance for other than intended use, which is brewing coffee.
Scalding may occur if the lid of the coffee maker is removed or the filter holder is opened during

This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into the polarized outlet only one way. If the plug
does not properly fit into the outlet at first, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled
in, or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
The electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least that of the appliance. If the
electrical rating of the extension cord is too low, it could overheat and burn.
The resulting extended cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or
tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Before the first use
When you use your appliance for the first time, pour fresh water into the water tank (without
coffee) and switch on the appliance.
Once all the water has passed through, switch off the appliance and let it cool down. When
it is cold enough repeat the process 3 times with fresh water.
6
Preparation of coffee
Open the lid (1) of the water reservoir (2) and pour the desired volume of water in it. The
water level can be read off the water level indicator. Never exceed the maximum level
indicated, corresponding to 4 cups of coffee (20 Fl.Oz. or 600 ml).
Never forget to close the water tank lid before switching on the coffee maker.
Swing out the filter holder (7) to open it.
Insert a paper filter, or the permanent filter (8) supplied, into the filter holder; add the
desired quantity of ground coffee in the filter using the provided scoop (9).
Put the glass jug (6) with its lid (3) closed on the heating plate.
Plug in the coffee maker in a wall outlet.
Press the ON/OFF switch (4) once. The red light will illuminate, indicating that your
appliance is in use and the coffee will start brewing.
Wait until the brewing process is finished and the filter holder does not release any coffee
before removing the carafe.

Note: always use a filter in the filter holder for brewing coffee!
Thanks to the keep warm function, your coffee will be kept warm until the coffee maker
gets switched off.
To shut off your coffee maker, simply press the ON/OFF switch, so that the light is off.
Once coffee is brewed, pour the coffee slowly into a coffee cup. Pouring slowly will avoid
coffee dripping from the jug.
•
•
•
Note: Your coffee maker is equipped with a “Pause-and-Serve” also called drip stop mechanism
(6), which means that when you remove the carafe from the appliance, a non-drip valve will
automatically operate to stop any drops of coffee falling onto the keep warm plate. When you
put the carafe back into place, the non-drip valve opens automatically and allows the remaining
coffee to filter through, into the jug.

6
Descaling and cleaning
Before any cleaning, switch the appliance off and unplug it. Let it cool down before cleaning
or storage.
The filter holder, the permanent filter, the carafe and the lid of the carafe can be cleaned in
warm soapy water. Do not clean in the dishwasher.
Note: The filter holder is removable for cleaning, by simply lifting it away when open.
The coffee maker body and the non-stick coated keep-warm plate can be cleaned with a
damp, non-abrasive, cloth or sponge.
Removing lime scale / mineral deposits in your coffee maker, on a regular basis, will greatly
prolong its life span. For decalcification, only use products especially formulated for the
descaling of coffee makers and follow their instruction manual carefully. Do not use vinegar
as it may damage the internal pipes. We recommend decalcifying your coffee maker after
every 40 uses or so, or around once a month if you have hard water.
Never put any part of the appliance in the dishwasher. Clean the carafe with soapy water
and rinse it with clear water.

Problem: You notice that the coffee making process is longer than it should be.
Solution: It is probably time to decalcify the appliance. Do not wait for the situation to get
worse. The decalcifying frequency depends on the hardness of the water and therefore can
be different from one household to another. Therefore it is important to pay attention to this.
A good maintenance of your appliance will prolong its lifespan. Guarantee claims will not be
accepted for the replacement of a heating element full of mineral deposit.
Problem: There is still coffee left in the filter holder after just after brewing.
Solution: When the water tank is empty, wait a couple minutes longer before removing the
carafe, as some water might still drip out of the filter holder.
Problem: My water is very hard.
Solution: We highly recommend the use of water filters since they not only improve the
coffee taste significantly, but also reduce the water hardness considerably. We also suggest
you decalcify your coffee maker more frequently, at least once a month.
