HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
For your personal safety, this appliance must be grounded. This appliance is equipped with a power
supply cord having a 3-prong grounding plug. To minimize possible shock hazard, the cord must be
plugged into a mating 3-prong, grounding type, wall receptacle, grounded in accordance with the
National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70 latest edition and all local codes and ordinances. If a mating
wall receptacle is not available, it is the personal responsibility and obligation of the customer to have a
properly grounded, 3-prong, wall receptacle installed by a qualified electrician.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in, or
tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
The electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least that of the appliance. If the electrical rating
of the extension cord is too low, it could overheat and burn.
The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can
be pulled on by children or tripped over. The extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord.

Assembly
Temperature settings
Before the first use
Place the base of the appliance (5) on a stable surface. Seat the metallic grease collector
or drip tray (4) in the base. This grease collector can be used with or without water inside.
Position the grill plate (2) on the base (5).
Make sure the temperature controller is in the “OFF” position. Plug the temperature controller
(6) into the receptacle on the side of the cooking plate (2), by inserting its plug into the
connection inlet on the appliance as deeply as possible.
The temperature guide below is indicative:
POSITION 1: 150˚F +/- 70˚F
POSITION 2: 220˚F +/- 70˚F
POSITION 3: 290˚F +/- 70˚F
POSITION 4: 360˚F +/- 70˚F
POSITION 5: 430˚F +/- 70˚F
Clean the grill and all the accessories (Cf. “Cleaning and care”). It is recommended to heat up
the grill for about 10 minutes without any food in order to eliminate the grease that may have
adhered during manufacture, and the “new” smell.
Ventilate the room during this period.

Apply a little oil on the cooking plate (2). Turn the knob of the temperature controller (6) to the
desired temperature level (align the temperature level with the indicator light representing an
arrow).
Preheat the grill (for about 5 minutes) to reach the ideal cooking temperature. When the
appliance reaches the desired temperature, the indicator light on the temperature controller
will go out.

Operation 9

6
Frozen food should always be thawed before it is grilled.
To grill meat, put the thermostat in its maximum position and preheat the grill. For other
ingredients, choose the temperature accordingly.
If you grill vegetables, fish or lean meat, spray the grilling surface with a cooking spray. If you
are grilling meat with any amount of fat, or if the food has been marinated, there is no need to
treat the grill prior to cooking.
You can use the glass lid (1) during or after cooking, to speed up the cooking process or keep
the food warm.
The grease collector can be used without water in it, or with a little bit of water. With water, the
cleaning is much easier, and the cooking is smokeless.
Before cleaning, put the thermostat in the “OFF” position and make sure that the plug has been
removed from the mains supply socket.
Allow the grill to cool down thoroughly and unplug the thermostat from the appliance before you
carefully dispose of any grease residue in the drip tray.
Never immerse the probe, thermostat or plug in water or any other liquid. However,
should there be water on the electric connection, wait until the appliance is completely dry
before operating again.
The drip tray, the tempered glass lid and the cooking surface are dishwasher safe and can be
immersed in water. They can therefore also be washed in warm, soapy water.
The base can be cleaned with a damp cloth or be washed in warm
water using a mild detergent and a soft sponge.
Wipe the outer surfaces of the thermostat control with a damp cloth and dry afterwards.
Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners as these might damage the non-stick coating or the finish
of the appliance.

Practical hints
Cleaning and care
10
11
Place the food on the grill side or on the griddle side, depending on the results to be achieved.
Note: The cooking fat will be discarded better when using the grill part to cook.
Use a wooden spatula to stir the food. Do not use sharp, plastic or metallic utensils to place,
remove or stir food as these can damage the non-stick surface of the cooking plate.
You may vary the setting of the control knob at any time during operation and the power
indicator light will go on and off, like with any thermostatically controlled appliance.
The grilling times vary according to the nature of the food and to your personal taste.
When grilling is finished, turn the temperature controller (6) to OFF. Unplug from wall outlet and
wait until the appliance has completely cooled down before then removing the temperature
control probe from the cooking plate.
Do not remove the cooking plate from the frame during use. Use the frame to carry or move the
unit, and remove the cooking plate (2) or drip tray (4) only after letting them cool for at least 30
minutes.
