Lifting the machine in an awkward position or
transporting it in a poorly balanced position could
result in personal injury. When transporting the
machine, assign an adequate number of persons
to the job and ensure that each person can take a
good position of not being excessively loaded.

Note:
• This manual provides the illustrations of the
accessory parts and machine that may be
slightly different in shape from yours. In that
case, instead of the illustrations, use the
appearance of your machine to follow the
installation procedure. This does not cause any
significant change or problem with the proce-
dure.
• If none of the later steps instruct you to use the
parts including screw and cover that you
removed following the instructions described in
this manual, discard them.
<Confirmation before installation>
(1)
<FS-536SD only>
When unpacking, conduct the following proce-
dure to remove the finisher.
a) Open the shipping box, and then remove the
cushions and plastic bag on the finisher.
b) Remove the protective tape and cushion from
the right side of the finisher.
c) Lift the finisher off the cushions, holding it by
the locations shown in the illustration.
Caution:
To prevent injuries use at least two people to lift
the finisher.
(2) To move the finisher, be sure to push it in the
directions of the arrows as shown in the illustra-
tion. (Precaution against falling of the finisher.)
(3) Choose a horizontal and stable floor for installing
the machine.
(4) The packaging material should not be reused for
repacking.
(5) When installing the optional punch kit PK-520,
attach it to the finisher first, and then attach the
finisher to the main body.
Keep this bag away from babies and
children. Do not use in cribs, beds,
carriages, or playpens.
The thin film may cling to nose and
mouth and prevent breathing. This bag is
not a toy.

2. Installation procedures
(1) Turn OFF the power switch and unplug the
power cord from the power outlet.
(2) Remove the user’s guide holder from the main
body.
(3) Remove the protective tape of the relay unit.
(4) Attach the supplied mounting bracket A (front) to
the left side of the main body.
(Three supplied screws A)
(5) Attach the supplied mounting bracket B (rear).
(Three supplied screws A)
(6) Remove one knockout (front) from the lower left
side of the main body with nippers.
(7) Mount the relay unit to the main body.
(Two supplied screws A)

the model of finisher.
<When installing FS-536SD>
(8) Remove the protective tape and the protective
materials from the finisher.
(9) Open the front door of the finisher, and then
remove the protective tape from the finisher and
staple unit.
(10) Remove the screw and remove the label from
the finisher.
(11) Remove the plate from the lower right side of
the finisher. (One screw)
(12) Reattach the plate removed in step (11) in the
orientation.(One screw removed in step (11))
(13) Remove the plate. (Four screws)

(14) Slide the saddle unit out, remove the protective
tape.
(15) Slide the saddle unit into the finisher.
(16) Attach the supplied exit tray (lower) to the fin-
isher. (Two supplied screws B)
(17) Insert the supplied exit tray (upper) into the fin-
isher.
(18) Connect the relay unit connector to the connec-
tor located at the rear of the right side of the fin-
isher.
(19) Open the finisher front door and pull the lever.
(20) Move the finisher closer to the main body.

(21) Verify items ➀and ➁below.
➀The plate spring of the plate installed in step
(12) is contacted with the main body.
➁When the lever that was pulled out in step (19)
is pushed back, the finisher’s screw hole is
within the range of lever’s mounting hole.
Note:
If there are any problems after verification, con-
duct the following steps a) to i).
a) Disconnect the connector, and remove the fin-
isher from the main body.
b) Slide the saddle unit out, and remove the cover
from the caster of the finisher. (Two screws)
c) Remove the rear cover from the finisher. (Eight
screws)

d) Adjust the height of the four casters.
e) Double check the verification items ➀and ➁.
Note:
If there are any problems, go back to d) and read-
just the caster height.
f) To install the covers and other parts removed in
step b) to c), reverse the removal procedure.
g) Slide the saddle unit into the finisher.
h) Plug in the connector removed in step a).
i) Move the finisher closer to the main body.
(22) Push the lever back to its original position.
Secure the finisher to the main body. (One sup-
plied mounting screw)
(23) Close the front door of the finisher.
(24) Remove the connector cover from the back of
the main body. (One screw)
(25) Plug in the two connectors of the finisher. Fit
the head of the cable tie into the mounting hole
on the main body.
(26) Reattach the connector cover removed in step
(24). (One screw)
Note:
Be careful not to pinch the harness.
(27) Install the user’s guide holder removed in step
(2).

(28) Place the supplied folding exit tray on the fin-
isher.
(29) Go to “3. Adjustment procedures” on page E-
12.
<When installing FS-536>
(8) Remove the protective tape and the protective
materials from the finisher.
(9) Open the front door of the finisher.
(10) Remove the protective tape from the staple
unit.
(11) Remove the protective tape.
(12) Remove the screw and remove the label from
the finisher.
(13) Remove the plate from the lower right side of
the finisher. (One screw)

(14) Reattach the plate removed in step (13) in the
orientation.(One screw removed in step (13))
(15) Attach the supplied exit tray (lower) to the fin-
isher. (Two supplied screws B)
(16) Insert the supplied exit tray (upper) into the fin-
isher.
(17) Connect the relay unit connector to the connec-
tor located at the rear of the right side of the fin-
isher.
(18) Open the finisher front door and pull the lever.
(19) Move the finisher closer to the main body.

(20) Verify items ➀and ➁below.
➀The plate spring of the plate installed in step
(14) is contacted with the main body.
➁When the lever that was pulled out in step (18)
is pushed back, the finisher’s screw hole is
within the range of lever’s mounting hole.
Note:
If there are any problems after verification, con-
duct the following steps a) to h).
a) Disconnect the connector, and remove the fin-
isher from the main body.
b) Remove the cover from the caster of the fin-
isher. (Two screws)
c) Remove the rear cover from the finisher. (Eight
screws)

d) Adjust the height of the four casters.

(21) Push the lever back to its original position.
Secure the finisher to the main body.

(22) Close the front door of the finisher.
(23) Remove the connector cover from the back of
the main body. (One screw)
(24) Plug in the two connectors of the finisher. Fit
the head of the cable tie into the mounting hole
on the main body.
(25) Reattach the connector cover removed in step
(23). (One screw)
Note:
Be careful not to pinch the harness.
(26) Install the user’s guide holder removed in step
(2).

3. Adjustment procedures
Note:
Perform this adjustment only when the Finisher
FS-536SD is installed.
(1) Plug the power cord into the power outlet and
turn ON the power switch.
(2) Select Finishing →Fold/Bind.
(3) Make copies in finisher mode and check the sta-
tus of the Half-Fold, Center Staple & Fold and
Tri-fold.
Note:
When copying in the Center Staple & Fold mode, 5
originals need to be set on the document feeding
tray.
<Half-fold skew adjustment>
(1) Unfold the paper that exits the machine and lay
the paper with the ridge facing up.
(2) Check the crease for deviation
(Measure width A1 and A2).
Reference: A1 - A2 = 0 ± 1.0 mm
(3) Insert a screwdriver into the holes on the right
side of the saddle unit shown below to loosen the
two screws.
Note:
The screws do not line up exactly with the holes.
Instead, they are located slightly higher than the
holes, so access the screws by pointing the screw-
driver slightly upward when inserting it.
(4) Push up the lever unit on the left side of the sad-
dle unit, and loosen the two screws shown in the
illustration.
If each mode are out of specifications,
make the following adjustments.

(5) Incline the guide plate assy shown in the illustra-
tion and adjust the skew.
Note:
Incline the guide plate assy forward or backward
according to the deviation of the crease.

(6) Tighten the four screws loosen in steps (3) and
(4).
<Half-fold position adjustment>
(1) Unfold the paper that exits the machine and lay
the paper with the ridge facing up.
(2) Fold the paper shown in step (1) in half and
unfold it again.
(3) Check the crease for deviation
(Measure width A).
Reference: 0 ± 1.0 mm

(4) Display the Service Mode screen.

(5) Touch “Finisher.”
(6) Touch “FS-FN adjustment.”
(7) Touch “Half-Fold Position.”
(8) Touch “ALL.”

screen.
(15) Touch “OK” twice.
(16) Touch “Exit” on the Service Mode screen.
<Center staple position adjustment>
(1) Unfold the paper that exits the machine and lay
the paper with the ridge facing up.
(2) Check the staple position for deviation from the
crease (Measure width A).
Reference: 0 ± 1.0 mm
(3) Display the Service Mode screen.
(For details of how to display the Service Mode
screen, see the Service Manual.)
(4) Touch “Finisher.”
(5) Touch “FS-FN adjustment.”
(6) Touch “Center Staple Position.”
(7) Check that “ALL” is displayed in reversed.

(1) Check the width of the first fold position “a.”

(3) Touch “Finisher.”
(4) Touch “FS-FN adjustment.”
(5) Touch “1st Tri-Fold Adjustment.”
(6) Check that “ALL” is displayed in reversed.
(7) Enter a value with or key.
• To make width a greater: Enter the value of

(8) Touch “Test Copy.”
(9) Select the tray loading paper for the test copy.
(10) Touch “3.”
(11) Touch “Tri-Fold”, and press the start key.
(12) Check the first fold positions deviate.
(13) Touch “END” to return to the adjustment
screen.
(14) Touch “OK” twice.
(15) Touch “Exit” on the Service Mode screen.
