AS2 ALTERNATING RELAY MANUAL
Features
ŸAlternating and Duplexing.
ŸIsolated 10A output contacts.
ŸIsolated input control, intrisically safe.
ŸIsolated input voltage.
ŸOmit switch.
ŸLEDs indicate operation.
ŸDual Voltage 120/220 VAC.
ŸSurface mounting or 35 mm DIN rail.
Duplex Alternating Relay AS2 is used in special
applications where the optimization of load usage is
required by equalizing the run time of two loads. A
control switch initiates this alternating action. A
control switch can be: a oat, manual, or pressure
switch, a timing relay, or any other isolated contact.
Each time the initiating switch is closed, the output
relay contacts will change state, thus alternating the
two loads. Two LED indicators show the status of each
output relay.
The AS2 relay can also be used where additional
ca pacit y is requi red in case of excess load
requirements. Not only it will alternate between two
lo ads, but it also al lows both lo ads to r un
simultaneously when the lead and lag switches are
closed, thus providing a way for both loads to operate
when running just one does not provide enough
capacity.
This version has a three-position selector switch that
allows the unit to alternate the two loads normally, or
omit the relay to one load or the other. By locking the
Alternating Relay to one load, the other load can be
removed for service without rewiring the rst load,
allowing continuous operation.
Description
Operation
Alternating: When the switch is in the “Normal”
position, alternating operation of Load B1 and Load B2
ocure each time the contact S1 LEAD is closed. The
LEDs indicate which load is operating.
Simultaneous operation: When the switch is in the
“Normal” position, both loads run simultaneously
when the S1 and S2 LAG switches are closed.
To operate only one load, place the switch on position
“Omit B1” in order to lock Load B2 or “Omit B2” in order
to lock Load B1.

Control switch inputs are low voltage / low current and
are electronically isolated from the input voltage and
output contacts.
The dual input voltage 120/220 VAC and the output
relays are also isolated.
DO NOT APPLY VOLTAGE BETWEEN TERMINALS TC, A,
AND S SINCE THE ALTERNATING RELAY CAN BE
DAMAGED
