Operatingthereceiveroutsideofitscabinetorwithitsbackremovedinvolvesa shockhazard. Workon these
modelsshouldonlybe performedbythose whoare thoroughlyfamiliarwithprecautionsnecessarywhenworkingon
highvoltageequipment.
Exercise carewhenservicing thischassiswithpowerapplied. ifcarelesslycontacted,cancause seriousshockor
resultindamage tothechassis. Maintaininterconnectinggroundleadconnectionsbetweenchassis, escutcheon, picture
tubedagandtunerwhenoperating chassis.
Whenit isnecessarytomakemeasurementsortestswithACpowerappliedtothe receiverchassis,anIsolation
Transformermustbeusedasasafetyprecautionand topreventpossibledamage totransistors. TheIsolation
Transformershouldbeconnectedbetweenthe TVlinecordplugand theACpoweroutlet.
Itisimportanttomaintainspecifiedvaluesofallcomponentsand anywhere elseinthe receivedthatcouldcause
a rise inoperatingsupplyvoltages.Nochangesshouldbemade totheoriginaldesignofthe receiver.
Componentsshownintheshadedareason theschematicdiagramand/oridentifiedbyinthe replacementparts
listshouldbereplacedonlywithexactfactoryrecommendedreplacementparts.The useofunauthorizedsubstitute
partsmancreatesmaycreate shock, fire,orotherhazards.
Before returningthereceivertotheuser, performthefollowingsafetychecks:
1.Inspectallleaddress tomake certainthatleadsarenotpinchedorthathardware isnotlodgedbetweenthe chassis
andothermetalpartsinthe receiver.
2.Replace allprotectivedevicessuchasnon-metallic controlknobs,insulatingfishpapers,cabinetbacks, adjustment
andcompartmentcoversofshields,isolationresistor-capacitornetworks,mechanicalinsulatorsetc.
3.Tobe sure thatnotshockhazardexists,a checkforthepresenceofleakage currentshouldbemade ateachexposed
metalparthavingareturnpathtothechassis(antenna, cabinetmetal, screwheadsknobsand/orshafts, escutcheon,
etc.)inthefollowingmanner.
Plug the AClinecorddirectlyintoa 110V/220V/240V,ACreceptacle. (DonotuseanIsolation Transformer
duringthesechecks.)All checksmustberepeatedwiththe ACline cordplug connection reversed.(Ifnecessary,a
non-polarizedadapterplug mustbeusedonlyforthe purposeofcompleting thesechecks.)
PLEASEREADBEFORE ATTEMPTING SERVICE
1.Use anIsolationTransformerwhenperforming anyserviceonthischassis.
2.Neverdisconnectanyleadswhilereceiverisinoperation.
3.Disconnectallpowerbefore attempting anyrepairs.
4.Donotshortanypositionofthecircuitwhilethe powerison.
5.Forsafetyreasons, replace componentsanywithidenticalreplacementparts(SEE PARTSLIST).
6.Before alignment,warmupthe TVforatleast30 minutes.
7.Whenremovinga PCB orrelatedcomponent, afterunfasteningorchangingawire, besuretoputthe
wire backinitsoriginalposition.
8.Inferiorsilicon grease candamageIC'sandtransistors.Whenreplacing IC'sandtransistors,useonly
specifiedsilicon grease.Remove alloldsilicon whenapplyingnewsilicon.
9.Before removingthe anode cap, dischargeeletricitybecauseit containshigh voltage.
