RAlthoughwell shielded, the KAV-250cd
shouldnot beplacednear humsensi-
tive componentssuchas preamplifier
phonostagesor turntables. Thepower
supply maycreate interference and
inducehum.
TheKAV-250cdincorporates an ad-
vancedsuspension system and does
not requireadditionalmasscouplingor
isolation. Youmayexperimentwith feet
or conesaslongastheyarenot perma-
nentlyaffixedto thechassis.Anyunau-
thorizedmodificationsto the electronics
or chassiswill voidthewarranty.

TheKAV-3OOcdremoteusestwo AAAsize
1.5volt batteries.
1. Removethe backplateto exposethe bat-
teries.
2. Removethe old batteries.
mInstall the newbatteries, followingthe
batterypositiondiagramonthe plastic
batteryreceptacle.
4. Re-installthebackpanel.
5. Checkto makesurethe remotecontrolis
functioningproperly.

Connectingthe
KAV-250cdto Your
System
WARNING
Whenmakingconnectionsto this compo-
nent or anyother, makesure the power
amplifieris off andthepreamplifieris in the
muteor stand-bymode.Makesureall cable
terminationsareof thehighestquality, free
fromfrayed ends,shorts, or cold solder
joints.
1. Plug the KAV-250cdinto a standard
wallACreceptacle.Thestand-byledwill
illuminate.
2. Connectthe KAV-250cdoutput to the
appropriatepreamplifierinput.
3. To activate the KAV-250cdfrom the
front panel,pushthe pwrbutton(1).
activate the KAV-250cdfrom the re-
mote,first pressthe CDkey(15)onthe
remote,thenpresstheredpwrkey(16).
Whenthe powerled (2) onthe compact
disc playerilluminates, the KAV-250cd
is readyfor operation.
TheKAV-250cdis equippedwith two ana-
log outputconfigurations:Single-endedvia
RCAconnectors, and balanced via XLR
connectors.Krell®recommendsthe useof
balancedinterconnects.Balancedintercon-
nectsnot onlyhavethe ability to minimize
sonic loss but also have immunity to
inducednoise,especiallyfor installations
usinglongcablelengths.Balancedconnec-
tions have6dBmoregain than single-
endedconnections.Whenlevel matchingis
critical, keepthis specificationin mind.

Track Programming
Thetrack programmingfunction of the re-
motecontrolgivesyoutheability to select
specifictracksor rearrangetheentire play
sequenceof a compactdisc. Programming
mustbeperformedin the stop mode.The
following keysonthe remotecontrol are
usedin track programming.

andlocka selectedtrack into yourprogram.
21 Direct NumberAccessPad
Usethis padto keyin thetracksyouwould
like tohear.
Note
Youmayprogramtrack numberseither by
pressing the track numberonthe direct
numberaccesspad (18) or by pressing
the track keys(26).
23Clr (Clear) Key
Usethis keyto deletethelast entryselect-
ed in a programmedsequence.
Note
TrackForward,TrackBack,Repeat,and
Pausefunction normallywithin a program-
medsequence.
HOWTO WRITE A PROGRAM
Pressthe prog key (19) onthe KAV-
250cdremotecontrol. PROGRAMwill
appearin the displaywindow(1).
mUsethe direct numberaccesspad(18)
or thetrackkeys(26)to selecttracksfor
a desiredsequence.Pressthe progkey
(20)to storetheselectedtrack. Thedis-
playwindow(7) will indicate01for the
first programmedtrack. Thedisplaywill
thenflash 02until youselect the next
track andpressprog.Repeatthis proce-
durefor eachof the tracksyouwantto
store. Amaximumof 20tracks maybe
programmed.Oncethe play key (23)
pausekey(22)is pressed,thetrackswill
playin programorder.
CHECKING, CHANGING AND
CLEARING A PROGRAMMED
SEQUENCE
Eachtimeyoupressthe progkey(20), the
track numberandit’s programpositionwill
appearin thedisplaywindow(7). Addtracks
to theprogrambypressingprogafter select-
ing the track youwantto add.Cleartracks
individuallybypressingtheclr key(19)after
selectingthe track youwantto delete. To
automaticallyclear a programmedsequence,
pressthepwrkey(16)to turn theKAV-250cd
off.

Krell®warrantsthis productto befreefrom
defects in material or workmanshipfor a
periodof five yearsfor circuitry andthree
yearsfor all mechanicalcomponentsfrom
the original dateof purchase.Shouldthis
productfail to performat anytimeduring

will repairit at nocostto
theowner,exceptassetforth in this warran-
ty. Transferof warrantyto a secondowner
occursautomatically.PleasecontactKrell® to
havethe nameon the warranty changed.
Transferof warrantydoesnot extendthe
durationof theoriginalwarrantyperiod.
Note
This warranty doesnot apply to damage
causedbyacts of Godor nature.
Thewarrantyperiod beginsonthe date of
retail purchaseasnotedonthe retail sales
slip providedbyanauthorizedKrell® dealer
or distributor,oronthewarrantyregistration
cardsentto Krell®.In theeventthatanade-
quateproofof purchasedateis unavailable,
the warrantyperiodwill beginonthe date
