Dear customer,
La Plancha, is a cast iron enameled hotplate appliance, ideal for healthy cooking of any type of food: sea food, fish, meat,
vegetables… It has been used for a few years by the most famous “chefs”, and is now available in three sizes, 17.7" (45 cm),
23.6" (60 cm) and 29.5" (75 cm), to go along with your relaxing moments with family and friends.
In order to fulfill your expectations, we have designed this item to be operated on Propane gas cylinders or from a connection
to natural gas. A special Natural gas kit is available, please contact your retailer.
For your comfort, we have designed a specific and elegant range of trolleys, as well a large range of accessories to help
cooking with a greater confort. Please ask your retailer for more details.
We ensure a two year warranty for parts and labor, starting from the purchasing date. The cast iron plate enameled and the
burners are guaranteed 10 years from the purchase date. Our After Sales department commits to ensure availability of parts
during 5 years minimum after your purchase. However, we recommend that you strictly follow our technical instructions for use
and maintenance. Not respecting these instructions can be dangerous or can cause serious damage to your appliance and/or
body injury. We guarantee our cast-iron hotplate when this one is used with the right accessories furnished by la Plancha.
For your safety, we remind you that La Plancha is for outdoor use only and that no flammable material must be in a radius of
a 20" (50cm) around, beneath or above the product. We also recommend not to store any flammable liquids or vapors next to
the product. If you notice a smell of gas, you must shut off the valve on the gas cylinder or the wall connection to natural gas.
When La Plancha is not in use, you must shut off the gas cylinder valve or the wall connection valve to natural gas.

1) LEGAL CONDITIONS
La PLANCHA CAN ONLY BE INSTALLED OUTDOORS
La Plancha must NOT be used in a building, garage or any other enclosed area.
La Plancha must NOT be used under extended awnings.
La Plancha must NOT be installed inside a house, a boat or a recreational vehicle.
La Plancha is NOT equipped with a pipe or system for evacuation of combustion by-products.
La Plancha must be installed and connected according to current local legal installation standards.
A special attention must be paid to rule about air ventilation. An input of 15mᶾ/h of fresh air is required for the feeding in
combustion air.
Failure to comply could result in a fire or personal injury.
CAREFUL:
-Accessible parts can be very warm, keep young children away.
-This appliance must be kept away from flammable materials during use.
-Keep any electrical supply cord and the fuel supply hose away from any heated surfaces.
-The parts protected by the manufacturer must not be manipulated by the user.
-It is recommended to use heat protection gloves when necessary to touch warm parts.
-The appliance must not be moved during usage.
-Pressure regulator and hose assembly supplied with the appliance must be used.
-Before use be sure that you have the proper orifices for the type of gas you wish to use.
-Propane factory fitted orifices (natural gas kit available from your retailer)
-We advice to use 9Kg gas cylinders (Propane) along with the regulator
and hose supplied with this appliance. La Plancha can also operate
with natural gas (Ask your retailer for the natural gas kit which
includes orifices)
-The length of the hose that connects the appliance to the bottle of gas
or to the natural gas connection must not be any longer than 31.5"
(0,80m).
-After use, shut off the gas valve on the cylinder of gas or on the Natural
gas connection. Place dust cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the
cylinder is not in use. Only install the type of dust cap on the cylinder
valve outlet that is provided with the cylinder valve. Other types of caps
or plugs may result in leakage of propane.
-Do not use an adjustable regulator.
-The drip tray must be manipulated only when cold.
-Wait until the appliance is cold before cleaning with Plancha Cleaner.
-Do not modify the appliance.
2) CHOOSING GAS
Your Plancha is adjusted in our factory for propane use, according to information on the data badge. In case of use with
natural gas, ask advice from your retailer or contact our after sales service to order the Natural gas kit.
CAREFUL: IN CASE OF USE OF NATURAL GAS, IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO PUT YOUR
PLANCHA ON A MOBILE TABLE OR A TROLLEY. YOUR PRODUCT MUST BE ON A FIXED
SUPPORT AND LINKED TO YOUR LOCAL GAS NETWORK BY A PROFESSIONAL.
The heat output of your Plancha is such that the support of your appliance must be made of an inflammable material: concrete,
fire-proof bricks or ceramics.
The gas cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with the Specifications for LP-Gas Cylinders of the U.S.
Department of Transportation (D.O.T) or the Standard for Cylinders, spheres and Tubes for Transportation of Dangerous
Goods; and Commission, CAN/CSA-B339, as applicable.
The cylinder must be provided with a listed overfilling prevention device. It must also be provided with a cylinder connection
device compatible with the connection for outdoor cooking appliances.

3) GAS CONNECTION
La Plancha is fitted at the back of the appliance in factory. List of spare parts is available at the end of this booklet.
To ensure a proper set up, avoid twisting or curving the rubber gas tube. Do not obstruct the flow of combustion for any
reason.
Changing gas cylinders must never be undertaken in the presence of a naked flame.
The installation must be conform to local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with either the National Fuel Gas Code
(ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54) Natural Gas or Propane Installation Code (CSA B149.1) or Propane Storage and Handling Code
(B149.2) as applicable.
a) For Propane Gas
The regulator and the hose that are included with La Plancha must be used.
The hose must be visible on its whole length (From the cylinder to the appliance) it must also be easy to reach.
The tightness of all connections must be checked prior to use. Apply a soapy water solution to all connections and check
for leaks before attempting to light the grill. (Bubbles indicate a leak). If a leak is found, turn tank valve off and tighten the
connections and check again.
DANGER:
- Never check tightness with a flame.
- Do not store a spare gas cylinder underneath or near this appliance.
- Never fill the cylinder beyond 80% full.
- A fire causing death or serious injury may occur if these precautions are not respected.
b) FOR NATURAL GAS
For Natural gas, it is strictly forbidden to use a Propane gas connector.
The orifices for natural gas must be ordered from our retailer or directly from our after sales department.
The hose must be visible on its whole length (From the wall valve to the appliance), and easy to reach.
The tightness of all connections must be checked prior to use. Apply a soapy water solution to all connections and check
for leaks before attempting to light the grill. (Bubbles indicate a leak). If a leak is found, turn wall valve off and tighten the
connections and check again.
The natural gas connection must be setup by a professional.
DANGER:
- NEVER CHECK FOR A LEAK WITH A FLAME.
4) BEFORE USE
Read instructions before lighting!
If ignition does not occur within 5
seconds, turn the burner control
knob off, wait 5 minutes, then
repeat the lighting procedure.
-Move the grill to an open area.
-The cover / lid must be open/removed before lighting. Do not cover La Plancha during cooking. For steam cooking the
stainless steel cooking dome must be used.
-Set the slope of the grill according to the type of cooking, with the adjustable feet that are at the back of the appliance.
-Inspect the gas hose before each use. Check the tightness of the connection, if you notice a leakage, turn off the gas inlet.
-If the hose shows marks of abrasion or wear, or if the hose is cut, it must be replaced prior to use.
-Check that the hose cannot be in contact with any part of La Plancha that can become warm.
-If you are using a trolley be sure that La Plancha is centered on the trolley. The trolley must have a non combustible surface.
-Before the first use, it is recommended to run La Plancha empty during 15 minutes. A slight smell may be noticed for a while.
-Before each use, preheat La Plancha during 10 minutes (Turn knobs to the bigger flame position)
-The grease tray must be handled when cold.

5) TURNING ON YOUR PLANCHA
The burner is equipped with a safety valve and a thermocouple for each burner, a control knob and an igniter.
The control knob bears an indication of the valve position. (Off position, small flame and big flame)
-Open the propane cylinder or wall valve if using natural gas.
-Your product is equipped with a safety valve in the off position (Clearly marked with a full circle) giving total security.
-Press the knob and rotate it towards the ignition position. Then operate the ignition system : a click must be heard and the spark
ignites the burner, keep the knob pressed during 5 seconds to activate the security. Check that the burner is well ignited.
-Release the knob. If the burner does not remain ignited, wait 5 minutes and start the operation again. Then adjust the height
of the flame by rotating the knob towards the small flame symbol. To turn off La Plancha, turn the knob towards the off
position (full circle)
-Keep your outdoor cooking area clear of combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids.

6) HOW TO REPLACE THE BATTERY
-Unscrew battery support cap –at the front of the appliance –in an anti-clockwise direction, replace 1,5V battery (AA type of
good quality). See diagram on the front of the appliance.
-Re-assemble by proceeding in the reverse order.
-If you do not use your appliance for a long period, it is recommended to remove the battery.
