TYPICAL INSTALLATION
Introduction
The Labgear EM1000 converts the signal from your HDMI source into
a digital format that can be distributed around your TV system
and received on all of your DTT receivers, PVR’s and TVs.
It preserves the High Denition quality of the original
source up to 1080p and allows you to set up the new
signal so that every TV receives it on your choice of LCN
channel number. You can also give the new channel a
name that is visible when selected by any TV connected.
If desired more than one EM1000 can be connected
into your system giving a wider choice of HD channels for
entertainment, information or security applications.
.
Signal sources
Any HD signal source up to 1080p resolution that uses an
HDMI output can be converted and distributed via the EM1000 including:
Blu-ray players, satellite receivers, terrestrial receivers and PVR’s, cameras, PC’s etc.
Safety
• Always use the 12VDC power supply provided. Using a higher voltage will damage the unit
and invalidate the warranty
• Do not connect the device to the power if the power cord is damaged
• Do not connect the unit to the mains until all cables have been connected correctly
• Do not cut the power cord
• Do not cover the ventilation slots,
the recommended clearances and
other precautions given in these
instructions must be observed to
prevent overheating. In addition,
units should not be positioned where
they are likely to become covered by
curtains, fabric or insulating material.
The unit should not be left resting on
a carpet
• This appliance is not waterproof, it is
intended for indoor use only and must
not be positioned where they could
be exposed to dripping or splashing
water. Objects containing liquids
should not be placed on or near the
amplier
• To prevent re, make sure the unit
and attached cabling is installed
well away from naked ames
• If the unit has been stored in cold
conditions allow it to warm to room
temperature before connecting to the
mains.
• NOTE: Multi dwelling systems must
be earth bonded using a minimum
4mm copper cable in accordance
with the CAI Standard.

Installing multiple units onto a TV system
The EM1000 has a low-loss combiner between the RF IN and RF-OUT and it is therefore possible
to not only
combine the off-air signals with your new channel but to “daisy chain” a number of units to add
more signals. With more than 2 units on a system you may get a better signal balance if you
combine all units and the aerial using a low loss combiner splitter like the 4-way FJU704.

Mounting and Installation
Best mounted in on a vertical surface with the connectors at the bottom. Use the keyhole slots
on the side of the casing to screw the unit onto a stable surface and allow at least 10cm space
around the unit for free ventilation.
Before commencing set-up check what channels or frequencies are being used for local off-air
transmissions and any other devices on the system and decide which unused channel you are
going to use.
• Connect the HDMI
• Connect the RF OUT to the input to the TV system (e.g. distribution amplier) directly or via a
wideband combiner
• Connect the aerial to the RF IN (unless if you are using a wideband combiner)
• Plug the power supply into the mains socket and switch ON
The encoder will power up and display the factory pre-set output channel and frequency.
