Safety Warnings
The responsibility for safe installation and operation of the winch and prevention of personal injury and
property damage ultimately rests with the operator.
Always stand to the side of the line of the winch rope when it is pulling. In the unlikely event of a failure the
rope which may recoil violently back towards the winch.
Batteries contain gases which are flammable and explosive. Wear eye protection. Do not lean over with your
face close to the battery while making connections.
Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the winch drum while it is in operation. Injury will occur if your
hand or any part of your body becomes entangled in the winch drum while it is operating.
Inspect the winch rope and equipment before each use. A frayed rope with broken strands should be replaced
immediately with the same rating of rope. Periodically check all bolts are tight.
Do not attempt to disconnect the PWC if it hangs up partway down the ramp. The PWC may suddenly roll free
and the sudden tension on the line and hook may pinch and injure your hands.
Stay off the PWC when it is on the Shore Ramp as it is not designed for the additional load.
Never release the free-spool clutch when there is a load on the winch. Do not launch the PWC by releasing the
free-spool clutch.
Always disconnect the winch power leads before working in or around the winch drum.
Do not machine or weld to any part of the winch.
The winch is designed for 12VDC power. Do not connect winch to either 110 VAC house current as winch
burnout and fatal shock may occur.
Do not operate winch when under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
Do not allow children to play with or operate the winch.

Assembly
If there is a PWC stored on the Shore Ramp PWC-50, remove it
and temporarily beach or anchor it safely out of the way.
Remove the Manual Winch from the PWC-50 by removing the
two 1” bolts that secure it to the winch strut. Retain the bolts,
nuts, and washers for mounting the Electric Winch Kit. The
manual winch can be retained as a backup if desired.
Mount the Electric Winch Kit to the Winch Strut using the two
1” bolts, washers, and locking nuts through the two central
holes under the center of the winch area. The motor and
control box must extend to the port side of the ramp (left side
when viewed from the water end of the ramp). The rope must
wrap under the drum as it extends out towards the water end
of the ramp.
Battery Requirements
The Electric Winch Kit is powered by a 12v deep-cycle “marine” battery supplied by the user. A typical group 24
marine/rv battery with 85 minutes “reserve capacity” should power the winch for 50 to 100 cycles between
charges (depending on the weight and slope). Retailers who sell automotive batteries typically also carry the
marine/rv models of batteries. (Wallmart, Sears, Home Depot, Menards, etc)
The Electric Winch Kit has 5/16” ring connectors suitable for the studs on marine/rv batteries or the bolted
connections on trolling motor batteries. The necessary wing nut or bolt may be supplied with the battery or
may need to be purchased separately.
Charging the battery will require a charger (also not included). When charging is necessary and power for a
charger is not nearby, the battery can be disconnected and charged at a location where power is available
A solar charging setup is recommended as a more convenient way to keep the battery fully charged.
A battery box is recommended to keep the battery and connections out of the elements.
Connect the Battery
WARNING – Batteries contain gases which are flammable and explosive. Wear eye protection during
installation and remove all metal jewelry. Do not lean over with your face close to the battery while making
connections.
Place the battery on the ground near the winch end of the ramp within reach of the power cables (6’ long).
Directly under the winch strut is a convenient location that is not a tripping hazard.
Connect the power cables to the battery. Use the wing nuts or bolts supplied with the battery. Connect the
Yellow wire to the positive (+) terminal of the battery. Connect the Blue wire to the negative (-) terminal of the
battery.

Test that the control switch runs the winch in the correct direction. When the switch is toggled towards the
water, the winch should let the rope out. When the switch is toggled upland, the winch should pull the rope in.
If the winch does not operate, or turns in the incorrect direction, check the connections (and check the rope is
wrapped in the correct direction).
Wrap the Rope Tightly On the Drum Before First Use
To avoid problems with the outer wraps of the rope “sinking” and wedging into the inner layers under load, it is
necessary to wrap the entire length of the rope tightly and evenly on the winch drum.
Turn the clutch control to “free-spool” and then by hand, pull all but the last layer of rope out of the winch.
Re-engage the winch free-spool knob back to the “Engage” position.
WARNING – Keep hands well away from the winch drum while it is in operation.
With the assistance of a 2nd person, manually keep firm tension on the end of the rope while powering the
winch in. From a safe distance, guide the rope onto the spool evenly and tightly.
Loading a Watercraft onto the Shore Ramp with the Electric Winch:
Use the frees-pool clutch or power out enough of the winch line to reach a couple feet past the end of the ramp.
Float the watercraft by hand to the front of the ramp. Attach the winch rope hook to the bow loop.
Toggle the control switch up, winching the front of the watercraft to the first set of rollers. Guide the watercraft
so that it remains centered and aligned with the ramp (in windy conditions this may be easier with two people).
As the watercraft comes up and over the first roller, confirm the watercraft is not rubbing on the Shore Ramp.
Hold the switch until the watercraft is pulled all the way up the ramp. Stop winching before the front of the
watercraft runs into the winch.
WARNING: Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing well away from the winch drum while it is in operation.
Injury may occur if your hand or any part of your body becomes entangled in the winch drum while it is
operating.
CAUTION: Do not use the Shore Ramp if any part of the ramp, winch, or winch rope is damaged, worn, or
malfunctioning.
CAUTION: Always stand to the side of the line of the winch rope when it is pulling. In the unlikely event of a
failure the rope may recoil violently and propel metal hardware back towards the winch.
IMPORTANT: Stop winching immediately if the winch stalls due to an obstruction or overloading.
IMPORTANT: Do not winch the watercraft too far such that it is damaged by hitting the winch.
IMPORTANT: Stay off the watercraft when it is on the Shore Ramp to avoid tipping.
IMPORTANT: Do not operate your watercraft in the shallows or attempt to power it up the ramp as the
impeller will be damaged by rocks pulled in from the bottom. Always float it to the ramp by hand.

Launching a Watercraft from the Shore Ramp with the Electric Winch Kit:
Toggle the control switch downwards to power out the winch rope, lowering the PWC slowly.
When the watercraft is completely off the ramp and floating in the water with slack in the rope, unhook the
rope.
For convenience of loading the PWC back on the ramp later, do not winch the empty rope back up. Leave the
rope laying on the shore ramp with the hook near the water end.
Float your watercraft by hand to the minimum safe operating depth before starting the engine.
IMPORTANT: Do not operate your watercraft in the shallows as the PWC’s impeller will be damaged by sand
and rocks pulled in from the bottom. Always float your watercraft to deeper water by hand. Consult your
PWC owner’s manual for the minimum safe operating depth.
WARNING: Never attempt to disconnect the hook if the PWC hangs up partway down and is not completely in
the water off the ramp. The PWC may suddenly roll free and the sudden tension on the line and hook may
pinch and injure your hands.
IMPORTANT: Stay off the PWC when it is on the Shore Ramp to avoid tipping.
IMPORTANT: Never release the free-spool clutch when there is a load on the winch. Do not launch the PWC
by releasing the free-spool clutch.
One Year Limited Warranty
LAKESIDE RECREATION products are warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for one (1) year
from the date of purchase. Within this period we will provide a replacement for any component that fails in normal use. Such
replacement will be made at no charge to you, provided that you shall be responsible for any shipping charges and labor for
replacement of the component. Replacement products or components may be new or refurbished at the sole discretion of
LAKESIDE RECREATION.
This warranty does not apply to: (a) cosmetic damage, such as scratches, nicks, stains and dents; (b) damage or loss caused
by accident, abuse, misuse, or other acts of nature or external causes; (c) damage or failure due to improper assembly,
improper installation, overloading beyond rated capacity, or use for purposes not intended; (d) damage to a product resulting
from modification or alteration. Determination that damage or failure is not due to defects in material or workmanship and is
therefore not covered under this warranty shall be at the sole discretion of LAKESIDE RECREATION.
To make a warranty claim, contact LAKESIDE RECREATION via the warranty claim link on www.lakesiderecreation.com
and provide a description of the failed component and your contact and shipping information. LAKESIDE RECREATION at
its sole discretion may require photographic documentation of the failed component; require the failed component to be
returned for inspection; and/or require the failed component to be returned in exchange for the replacement component.
Returned components shall be become the property of LAKESIDE RECREATION when a replacement component is
provided. Please do not return any products or components without prior authorization. LAKESIDE RECREATION shall
not be responsible for any shipping charges for any component or product returned to us, nor for any shipping charges to
return back to you any component or product.
THE WARRANTIES AND REMEDIES CONTAINED HEREIN ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY LIABILITY ARISING UNDER ANY
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, STATUTORY OR
OTHERWISE. Subject to applicable law, in no event shall our liability exceed the purchase price of the product.
