Dear customer,
this Digital to Analogue Audio Converter from our brand KanaaN is specially designed for
either home or professional audio signal switching. It converts Coaxial or Toslink digital audio
signals into analogue L/R audio signals and allows you to connect it to an external device
such as an amplifier via standard Cinch connector. The additional 3.5 mm headphone output
is the special feature of our KanaaN Digital to Analogue Converter. The output signal can be
regulated with an additional controller. This converter is small in size and quite easy to install.
For optimum performance, please read these instructions carefully before connecting,
operating or adjusting this product. Please keep this manual for further reference.

CONNECTION AND OPERATION
Attention: Insert/Extract cable gently.
Step 1: Please switch all devices off before connecting the converter.
Step 2: Connect the audio source device (DVD player etc.) via a TOSLINK or coaxial
cable to the converter and the analogue output with a cinch or 3.5mm jack with a suitable
amplifier.
Step 3: Connect the AV receiver or amplifier with a compatible L/R cable to the converter.
Step 4: In addition, you can use the headphone out to use the audio signal. The
headphones need a compatible 3.5mm jack. This signal is pre-amplified in the converter and
you can adjust the volume.
Step 5: To activate the headphone out just push the volume controller a few seconds.
Step 6: You may now use the converter. Connect with the charger cable to a USB (type
A) port and switch on the source device.
Notes:
To output a digital audio signal the playback device might be set to "digital audio". You may
find such instructions in the producers user's manual.
If the converter is connected to a TOSLINK and coaxial cable simultaneously, the TOSLINK
signal will be automatically preferred.

FAQ
In general, in case of technical troubles check the electrical signal connections and the power
supply (LED at converter glows) first. If this turns out to be not helpful, we arranged the
following questions and answers for you to find the cause and solve the problem.
Problem Description
Possible Cause/Possible Solution
No or just very low
audio output.
Is the volume correctly adjusted at the playback device?
Is the signal source set on digital audio?
Is the amplifier set on the right input interface?
Is the proper digital output format (PCM Audio, Stereo)
used? For the use of the converter with a Dolby Surround
device, you need to adjust the stereo out format. Otherwise
different transmission protocols may lead to very low or
even no audio signal.
Is the signal cable to long? Or even defective?
There is a supply noise
Do the cables have a proper distance to transformers or
similar devices?
Are converter and amplifier connected to different circuits
(ground loop)?
If you use the Cinch input on the digital side, ground loops may
occur, especially with source devices using a switching power
supply like notebooks. Is the supply noise still there if the
Notebook runs on battery operation?
The signal is distorted
Is the right output format PCM (Dolby Digital Audio) used?
Is the correct amplifier input used?
Some sound systems have input interfaces for record players,
which are more sensible and not suitable due to possibly
occurring distortions.
Is the volume at the playback device set to high?

SAFETY NOTES
For your own safety and for long enjoyment of our product, please follow the following safety
instructions:
Please use device as described in the manual.
To avoid damages to the video system by inrush current, please switch the amplifier/TV
off before installing the converter. Non-compliance may cause damages to TV, amplifier
system and your hearing! The amplifier is to be switched on last, after signal source
and converter are already switched on.
If the converter does not work normally, please disconnect the power adapter from the
circuit and try to find the cause.
Use original factory power adapter. Do not attempt to use the converter with other
power adapters. Despite of matching plug connectors it may still damage the converter,
the signal source and the sound system!
Warning: Power adapters with a higher voltage may damage the converter.
Do not pull on power cord when taking off the wall socket.
Turn off power when device is not in use for a longer time.
Do not open cover and do not touch inner parts.
Please keep power adapter and converter dry and just use in dry environment.
Keep away from damp, high temperature, dusty, erosive and oxidative environment.
Do not touch with wet hands.
Keep safe from being hit or falling down.
