Owner’s Manual contains important information about Lexus Link and your Lexus
Link system. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the five Lexus Link
buttons. They are located in a panel on the overhead console of your Lexus vehicle.*
1.1 Lexus Link Basics, Buttons, and Indicator Lights
The (Services) button will connect you with a specially-trained Lexus Link
Advisor available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for assistance.
The (Emergency) button is the Lexus Link Emergency button; it is used in
cases of emergency only. The (Phone) button is used for Personal Calling, an
optional, pre-paid phone service that enables you to make and receive calls across
the U.S. and Canada and use Advanced Services.** The (Voice Keypad)
button is used with Personal Calling when you need to generate tones to interact
with a call center menu or voicemail system. And finally, the (- Vol +) button
allows you to adjust your Lexus Link system’s audio volume to a desired level.
System Status Light Indicators
Solid green indicates the Lexus Link system in the vehicle is powered on and
ready to connect with the Lexus Link call center or make and receive calls. Blinking
green indicates a call is being connected or in progress. If you notice this light
blinking while you are not on a call, press the button to speak with an Advisor
for assistance. Red signals that your Lexus Link system may not be functioning
properly. Press the button to attempt to contact a Lexus Link Advisor. If the
connection is made, the Advisor will assist you in making sure your Lexus Link
system is operating properly. If you cannot contact the Lexus Link Call Center,
please take your vehicle to your dealership for diagnosis and service.

2.1 When to press the Emergency Button
Press the (Emergency) button to contact the Lexus Link Emergency Team in
case of an emergency or life-threatening situation. Use this button only for emer-
gencies. If you press this button by mistake, please don’t end the call. Wait until an
Advisor answers so you can explain that you are not experiencing an emergency.
Otherwise, the emergency team will try to call you back to be sure you do not
need assistance and may attempt to contact emergency services if a response is
not received from you.* Please note that use of the Lexus Link system requires the
vehicle to be in Ignition On mode.
2.2 What happens when you press the Emergency Button
When you press the button, a high-priority call is sent with your current loca-
tion to a specially-trained Lexus Link Emergency Advisor. The Emergency
Advisors are trained to respond to emergency situations and work with national
and local emergency providers to get you the help you need quickly.
Emergency Advisors are standing by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to
respond to any emergency. They can be a calm and helpful voice for you in a trau-
matic situation.*
2.3 Automatic otification of Air Bag Deployment
If you are in a collision and the air bags deploy, your vehicle will automatically place
a priority call to the Lexus Link Emergency Services team. Your location, as deter-
mined by a lobal Positioning System ( PS), is sent with this call. This enables the
Lexus Link Advisor to relay your location to emergency service personnel so serv-
ices can be dispatched quickly. Prior to dispatching emergency personnel, a Lexus
Link Advisor will attempt to contact you in your vehicle. If you
do not require emergency personnel, simply tell the Advisor. If the Lexus Link
Advisor does not get a response from the vehicle, they will contact emergency
service personnel and provide your vehicle’s location.*

Personal Calling
4.0 Personal Calling*
Your Lexus Link®system is equipped to support the hands-free, voice-activated
calling service offered by the Lexus Link service provider, OEM Telematics
Services*. This Personal Calling service allows you to make and receive calls in
your vehicle. As you make and receive calls, pre-paid minutes are deducted from
your plan. It’s easy. All you need to do is to learn a few simple commands for dialing.
Your vehicle has its own phone number so your friends and family can call you when
you are in your vehicle. When someone calls you, you’ll hear a ring tone. Just press
the (Phone) button to answer the call and your radio will mute automatically.
• There are 5 ways to make a call:
1. Dialing a specific phone number
2. Dialing digit-by-digit
3. Dialing a phone number saved as a Nametag
4. Dialing the last number you called ("Redial")
5. Dialing a number a Lexus Link Advisor downloaded to your vehicle
4.1 Dialing a specific phone number
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link Ready,"
say "Dial."
2. When Lexus Link responds with "Phone number to dial please," say the entire
number you wish to dial with no pauses.
3. Lexus Link will repeat the number and ask "Yes or No?"
4. Say "Yes" to accept or "No" to try a ain.
5. Lexus Link responds with "Dialing" (Your call will then be connected.)
*See section 5.2d – Personal Calling Limitations
LEXUS LINK GUIDE

4.2 Dialing digit-by-digit ("Digit Dial")
Digit Dial enables you to dial a phone number by individual digit. This is helpful when
there’s background noise and also improves voice recognition.
1. Press the (Phone) button. When Lexus Link®responds with "Lexus Link
Ready," say "Di it Dial."
2. When Lexus Link responds with "Digit Please,” say the first di it of the number
to be dialed and wait for it to be repeated back to you.
3. Continue one di it at a time until all di its are entered.
4. When finished, say "Dial." Lexus Link responds with "Dialing," and your
call is placed.
If you have problems storing a number (see section 4.3) using the continuous
number method, you can store numbers one digit at a time using Digit Store. Simply
follow the instructions above for Digit Dial, except say "Di it Store" in Step 1 and
"Store" in Step 4.
• Tips to help you with individual Digit Dialing
When entering numbers using Digit Dial please remember:
• If you get the error message "Slower, please," you probably said a command
before the system was ready to listen or there was substantial background
noise. Try to wait slightly longer before speaking, and try to minimize
background noise.
• The system will only recognize one digit at a time. If the system doesn’t under
stand what you say, it will respond with the error message "Pardon?"
Simply try again, speaking a little louder or more clearly.
• If the system repeats an incorrect digit, say "Clear." After the system indicates
the digit has been cleared, say the digit again.
• To differentiate pound and star from other numbers and commands, use the
commands "Pound Key" and "Star Key.”
4.3 Dialing a phone number saved as a ametag
A Nametag is a convenient way to store important or frequently-called phone
numbers for easy access at any time. To do this, choose a frequently-called
number to store. The example below uses your home telephone number.
• How to store a ametag:
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link
Ready," say "Store."
(continued on next pa e)
LEXUS LINK GUIDE Personal Call ng

• How to store a ametag: (continued)
2. When Lexus Link®responds with "Phone number to store, please," say the
entire number you wish to store, with no pauses.
Lexus Link will repeat the number and ask "Yes" or "No."
3. Say "Yes" to accept or "No" to try a ain.
4. When Lexus Link responds with "Nametag, please," say "My home.”
5. When Lexus Link responds with "About to store my home. Does that sound
OK?"
say "Yes" to accept or "No" to try a ain.
6. Lexus Link responds with "Storing my home.”
• Helpful Hints
• The system can store up to 20 Nametags
• Try to use multi-syllable Nametags such as "my home," and "the office"
• Try to avoid similar-sounding Nametags like "Tim" and "Kim"
Note: when using the Dial and Store commands, the system will recognize
7-,10-, and 11-digit phone numbers. When dialing or storing a phone number,
you can say "zero" or "oh" for 0.
How to place a call using a stored ametag:
The following example uses “my home” Nametag from the previous example.
1. Press the (Phone) button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link
Ready,” say "Call."
2. When Lexus Link responds with "Nametag, please", say "My home.”
3. Lexus Link responds with "Calling my home."
How to hear a list of your stored ametags:
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link Ready,"
say "Directory."
2. Lexus Link will list your Nametags.
How to delete a nametag:
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link Ready,"
say "Delete."
2. When Lexus Link responds with “Nametag, please” say the Nametag
you wish to delete, for example, “My home.”
3. The system will respond “Delete my home. Yes or No?” If that is correct, say
“Yes,” otherwise say “No.”
4. Say “Yes,” and the system will confirm “Deleting my home.”
LEXUS LINK GUIDE Personal Call ng

4.5 Dialing a number a Lexus Link Advisor downloaded to your
vehicle
Directions Plan customers can request that Lexus Link Advisors download a
phone number from their database to dial later using Personal Calling.
After the number has been downloaded:
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link
Ready," say "Number Recall."
2. Lexus Link will respond with "Connecting to Number Recall.”
4.6 How to retrieve your phone number
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link
Ready,” say "My number.”
2. Lexus Link responds with "Your number is [ # ].”
Note: If the system responds with "Personal Calling unavailable,” this means your
Personal Calling feature is not yet active; this takes a few days from vehicle
delivery. Or it could mean that Personal Calling service is not available in your
area. Press the (Services) button to check with an Advisor. Now that you
have your number, take a moment to practice by making your first call to your
home phone. Remember, the system recognizes numbers better when you say
them quickly.
• General tips for interacting with the system
umbers:
• When inputting a phone number, the system listens for a continuous string of
digits. It can recognize a string of 7-, 10-, and 11-digit numbers as well as the
sequence 911. To ensure your calls are connected everywhere you go, always dial
and store 11-digit phone numbers using a "1" and the area code. The system does
not recognize words such as "hundred,” "thousand" or "twenty." Instead, you
should say each digit separately and continuously. For example, the phone
number "1-800-555-2030" is pronounced, "one-eight-zero-zero-five-five-five-
two-zero-three-zero”.
4.4 Dialing the last number you called ("Redial"):
You can dial the last number you called by using the "redial" feature:
1. Press the (Phone) button. When Lexus Link®responds with "Lexus Link
Ready," say "Redial.”
2. Lexus Link will respond with "Redialing [#].”
LEXUS LINK GUIDE Personal Call ng
13
• Accessing Automated Phone Systems
Once you have dialed into a phone system, Lexus Link®allows you to dial numbers
for phone extensions, dial numbers in Voice Mail systems and navigate through the
"PRESS 1" or "PRESS 2" functions of a business phone system. The following
example should give you the idea how to dial numbers into automated systems.
1. Press the (Phone) button. When Lexus Link responds with "Lexus Link
Ready," dial the number you wish to call. (See section 4.1)
2. Once you reach the automated system, such as your voice mail, and you
need to enter a string (sequence) of digits, or dial the star key or pound key,
press the (Voice Keypad) button.
3. When Lexus Link responds with "First digit to send please," say a number 0-9,
"star key" or "pound key.” Wait for the system to repeat the di it back to you
before speakin the next di it. When you’ve spoken all the digits say "Dial."
and Lexus Link will send all the digit tones.
Remember: you must press the button each time you need Lexus Link’s voice
recognition software to create the tone(s). After you’ve told Lexus Link which digit
or digits to send, you’ll hear the system make the tone(s) and Lexus Link will switch
back to normal mode. If you need to send another digit or group of digits, press the
button to repeat the process. To differentiate the pound and star keys from
other numbers and commands, you must say "Pound Key" and "Star Key."
4.7 Common voice commands
Now that you have dialed a phone number, stored a phone number and made a
call using a stored nametag, you get the idea that after you press the phone button
and Lexus Link responds "Lexus Link Ready" the system is muted and is waiting for
you to speak a voice command. Your Lexus Link system can do lots of other
functions for you.
Here is a list of all the voice commands you can say and what they do for you:
• "My Number"–to hear your vehicle’s phone number.
• "Dial" (or "Dial Number" ) – to dial phone numbers.
• "Store"– to store numbers with Nametags.
• "Call" (or "Call Nametag") – to dial using stored Nametags.
• "Redial"– to dial the last phone number you called.
• "Help"– for a list of all commands.
• "Directory"– plays all your stored Nametags.
• "Units"– then say "Verify" to hear how many Personal Calling minutes you
have left, or say "Add" to purchase more minutes.
(continued on next pa e)
LEXUS LINK GUIDE Personal Call ng
14
4.7 Common voice commands (continued )
• "Advanced Services"– to access traffic, weather and stock quotes
(see section 4.12).
• “Digit Dial"– to dial phone one digit at a time.
• "Digit Store”– to store numbers one digit at a time.
• “Delete Nametag”– to delete a stored Nametag.
• "Cancel"– If you spoke a command and the system misheard you, this
command takes you from the current function back to the "Lexus Link Ready"
prompt. If the last response from the system was "Lexus Link Ready",’ when
you give the "Cancel" command you will exit Personal Calling.
• "Security Code"– to turn your personal calling security code Off/On.
• "Advisor Playback"– to replay Advisor directions that you recorded.
Remember whenever you dial a call or call Advanced Services you are using
minutes. The commands "My Number," "Store," "Help," "Directory," "Units," “Advisor
Playback” and “Delete Nametag” do not use minutes. These are commands between
you and your Lexus Link®system.
4.8 Voice command recognition
The Lexus Link system uses technology that’s designed to understand a wide range
of speakers of American English. But the technology may not work equally well
across all regional and ethnic accents under all noise conditions. For this reason,
the Lexus Link voice recognition system may not recognize all commands from all
voices. Of course, there’s no one "right" way to speak English. The system works
best when users try to modify their pronunciation in response to system errors.
Tips found in this guide are designed to help users who may be experiencing
difficulty with the system.
• Voice Command Error Messages
"Pardon"
When dialing phone numbers, this usually means the system did not hear you say a
7-, 10-, or 11-digit number. Just try again. Or the system has not been able to match
your command with a word that it knows. Repeating the command as clearly as you
can should fix the problem. After the third time this happens, the system will try to
guess the command you are requesting. If correct, say "Yes." If not, say "No," and the
system will prompt you with its next-best guess.
"Slower, please"
This response normally happens if you say a command before the system is ready to
listen or if there is substantial background noise. Try to wait slightly longer before
speaking and try to minimize background noise.
LEXUS LINK GUIDE Personal Call ng
15
• Voice Recognition Tips
• Be sure to articulate each sound in the word. The voice recognition system can
have trouble recognizing a word when final consonants are not pronounced. It
may be helpful to emphasize the final consonant.
• Avoid "clipping" short words and syllables. Instead, try lengthening the short
words and syllables, and slow down your overall speech rate. Try lengthening
different syllables of the word.
• Try speaking louder. When there is a lot of background noise, the system has
more trouble hearing your speech. If, however, you find that you are speaking
so loudly that you are straining your voice, speak a little more quietly but with
clearer pronunciation.
• The system may recognize your commands better if you try a different pitch.
Try using a higher or lower pitch, You can also try speaking faster or slower, or
try varying the volume of your voice—speaking louder or softer.
4.9 Maintaining your Personal Calling Account and Purchasing
Minutes*
To use Personal Calling, all you need is a package of calling minutes. Your Lexus
Link system keeps track of your minutes. You can purchase packages of minutes
from OEM Telematics Services simply by contacting a Lexus Link Advisor.
Minutes are easily billed to a credit card that you can choose to keep on file with
the Lexus Link service provider to expedite future purchases of Personal Calling
minutes. Your credit card information is secure, protected, and used only for
replenishment of minutes or other services that you approve.
• How To Verify Remaining Units/Minutes
When you make or receive personal calls or use Advanced Services you use
minutes. The Lexus Link system calls them "Units." Your Lexus Link system will
notify you when you have 10 or fewer calling minutes remaining. This will occur at
the beginning of a call or in the middle of a call, and will tell you "You Have Less
Than 10 Units Remaining." You can check how many minutes you have remaining
by following these steps:
(continued on next pa e)
*See section 5.2d – Personal Calling Limitations

How To Verify Remaining Units/Minutes (continued)
1. Press the (Phone) button. When Lexus Link®responds with "Lexus Link
Ready,” say "Units.”
2. When Lexus Link responds with "Verify or add," say "Verify."
3. Lexus Link responds with "You have [#] units remaining."
4. Lexus Link returns to main menu and says, “Lexus Link Ready."
• How to purchase more minutes
Press the phone button to be connected to an Advisor who can assist you in
purchasing more minutes. If you run out of minutes during a call, your call will be
automatically terminated and you will be connected to replenish your minutes.
1. Press the button. When Lexus Link responds with “Lexus Link Ready,"
say "Units.”
2. When Lexus Link responds with "Verify or add," say "Add.”
